Speedy deletion of Image:Earthquake Protector.pdf

A tag has been placed on Image:Earthquake Protector.pdf requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section I10 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file that is not an image, sound file or video clip that has no encyclopedic use.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on ] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you.

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:EP-6.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Misplaced Pages:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:18, 22 June 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 21:18, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

You are right. The file is mine but it may be deleted. Thanks, Shustov (talk) 00:04, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Main article tags

You've been adding main article tags pointing to Earthquake engineering. In many cases, the tags are not appropriate, as the article itself is the main article. Pages about specific earthquakes are good examples of how this isn't the right template to add to a page. The earthquake is about what happened, not about engineering. Your link to "earthquake engineering" should usually be down in the "See also" section. Binksternet (talk) 19:44, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Now, there are no inappropriate tags to Earthquake engineering. At least, I could not find any. Shustov (talk) 00:00, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Citing Sources

Hi! It looks like you're doing a great job improving and creating articles related to earthquakes. I've noticed that you seem to be adding sources for the information, which is also great. There is one problem though. You seem to be adding external links inline in the text of the article like this "". Please read the article on how to cite sources. It should help you edit more effectively and help improve the formatting of the article you create. There is a tool that you can enable in your preference that will make it very easy to use the reference templates.

There are some more links in the welcome message above that also may prove helpful. Again, you are doing a great job.
Thanks so much for your efforts. ./zro (⠠⠵) 17:33, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. I will do my best in the New Year. Sincerely, Shustov (talk) 00:00, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

USGS info in Earthquake engineering

Shustov, I think you were the editor who added a lot of the content related to the section Earthquake engineering#Failure modes. It appears that there are blocks of text there which are direct copies of USGS documents. Could you go through your work in that section (and anywhere else in the article) and properly quote and cite material which you've brought in from elsewhere?

It's very important to cite our sources, both to keep Misplaced Pages reliable and trustworthy, and to give credit where it is due. There are hardworking people who deserve to be acknowledged for their efforts. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 16:46, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Will you identify those blocks and the particular USGS documents, please? I am always happy to credit any appropriate source, you bet! Shustov (talk) 00:00, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
