Welcome to Misplaced Pages!

Ahlan wa Sahlan Yamanam! Whatever help you need, I'd be more than happy to lend a hand. Just let me know what it is that you are working on specifically and I'll pitch right in. Unfortunately, I won't be able to write at the Arabic Misplaced Pages (my fusha sucks actually :) But however else I can be assistance, it would be my pleasure. By the way, if you are celebrating Ramadan, Kol sinni wa inta salam. Il ilaqa. Tiamut 14:55, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Re:Urgent request

I just took a quick look at the article and from what I could see there's no ref that describes the book except the book itself. You should find a neutral reference that reviews the book and summarizes it. Don't worry we'll try to keep it from being deleted. First find that source. --Al Ameer son (talk) 19:24, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

NPOV editing

If you wish me to review the your edits for a trial period, then I will do so - but please don't think that because I found them to be within WP:CIVIL or similar that they cannot be challenged/changed by anyone (and neither that anyone who does challenge/change them is a Zionist, etc.); this is a wiki. The best person, though, to police your edits is yourself; you could try a role reversal trick, which is to substitute Israel for Palestine, Palestine for Israel, Israeli for Arab/Palestinian and Palestinian/Arab for Israeli and review your proposed edit and see if you would be happy with it. If you are, change the key words around and post it - and if you don't like it reword it until you do. Always try to take the moral high ground by making your edits the most neutral and best referenced it is possible to be, for those are the edits that will last. If, however, you feel outside review is best let me know on my talkpage and I will go through your most recent contributions at that time. LessHeard vanU (talk) 21:39, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Gaza solidarity

As Salaam-u-Alaikum Yamanam. Please see Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Palestine#Gaza Devotion period. --Al Ameer son (talk) 04:37, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm really sorry for my late response, and am also sorry and ashamed to say that I cannot read or write Arabic, only speak it. Regards, brother. --Al Ameer son (talk) 03:16, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm delighted the reaction about the Gaza Devotion Period on Wiki Arabic was so positive! Just to give you a note on the progress here... the Great Mosque of Gaza is now a Good article, the articles on the neighborhoods of Rimal, Shuja'iyya, and Tel al-Hawa have been created, an article on Said al-Shawa has been started, the articles on the destroyed villages of Barbara, Yas'ur, al-Jiyya, and al-Jura have been expanded and as for the article on Gaza City, I've expanded it by roughly 30,000 KB and virtually all of it is referenced. Hopefully it will be ready for Good article status soon! I hope you and the Wi-Ar editors keep up the great work and please always drop by Wiki English. Salamat y'akhi! --Al Ameer son (talk) 02:42, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Arabic Misplaced Pages

Assalamu alaikum, I noticed that the Arabic article doesn't have the picture I added of the destroyed orphan centers. Why was it removed? Thanks for fixing the reference section on the Zeitoun article, feel free to continue editing the article. I hope to add information on the Samouni family tonight, insha'allah. --Falastine fee Qalby (talk) 20:02, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

RE:Ethnic cleansing of Palestine and other stuff

First off, was that article merged with the one on the book? Secondly, it might be difficult to keep that article from being deleted, unless more sources are found and much more text added such as, sections on specific examples of ethnic cleansing as well as a section on criticisms of the term. With an article on this particular subject, we must stress to keep it as NPOV as possible throughout since it has the potential to attract a lot of heat from many users. As long as we add the necessary information above, I am confident the article will not be deleted even with opposition. Lately, as you know, I've been working on the Gaza topic and once Gaza becomes a Good article, I might be temporarily migrating from the Palestine subject area to work on the Gamal Abdel Nasser article, Damascus or the Umayyad Mosque. I want to finally contribute to pan-Arab articles as I had stated I wanted too a long time ago. Compared to other Arab-related articles on Wiki, WP Palestine is the most successful. --Al Ameer son (talk) 03:53, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

P.S. In addition to Gaza City, Shuja'iyya has been expanded to include a History section and I recently created the articles on al-Shifa Hospital and the destroyed village of Burayr north of Gaza. Salaamat y'akhi. --Al Ameer son (talk) 03:53, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

I suggest you open a discussion section at WP:PALESTINE for this topic. I think you are right that an article on the subject itself would be appropriate, but it would be good to get feedback there first. Tiamut 13:19, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

ArbCom Enforcement

Misplaced Pages:Administrators'_noticeboard/Arbitration_enforcement#User:Yamanam_provocative_non-neutral.2C_non-discussed.2C_inflammatory_page_move_in_WP:ARBPIA_article. This is a courtesy notification. I do not wish to address this matter in your talk page.--Cerejota (talk) 13:19, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Notification

As a result of an arbitration case, the Arbitration committee has acknowledged long-term and persistent problems in the editing of articles related to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, broadly understood. As a result, the Committee has enacted broad editing restrictions, described here and below.

  • Any uninvolved administrator may, on his or her own discretion, impose sanctions on any editor working in the area of conflict if, despite being warned, that editor repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Misplaced Pages, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process.
  • The sanctions imposed may include blocks of up to one year in length; bans from editing any page or set of pages within the area of conflict; bans on any editing related to the topic or its closely related topics; restrictions on reverts or other specified behaviors; or any other measures which the imposing administrator believes are reasonably necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of the project.
  • Prior to any sanctions being imposed, the editor in question shall be given a warning with a link to this decision; and, where appropriate, should be counseled on specific steps that he or she can take to improve his or her editing in accordance with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Discretionary sanctions imposed under the provisions of this decision may be appealed to the imposing administrator, the appropriate administrators' noticeboard (currently WP:AE), or the Committee.

These editing restrictions may be applied to any editor for cause, provided the editor has been previously informed of the case. This message is to so inform you. This message does not necessarily mean that your current editing has been deemed a problem; this is a template message crafted to make it easier to notify any user who has edited the topic of the existence of these sanctions.

Generally, the next step, if an administrator feels your conduct on pages in this topic area is disruptive, would be a warning, to be followed by the imposition of sanctions (although in cases of serious disruption, the warning may be omitted). Hopefully no such action will be necessary.

This notice is only effective if given by an administrator and logged here. PhilKnight (talk) 17:04, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Editing advice

Firstly, if you want to move a page, in circumstances where the page move is likely to be contentious, you should follow the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves. Secondly, when editing articles relating to the Palestine-Israel conflict, I suggest you develop consensus on the talk page, prior to making changes that alter the balance of the article. If you continue to be disruptive, then you could be banned from editing the topic. PhilKnight (talk) 18:46, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of 2009 Hamas reprisal attacks against traitors

Please do not move pages to nonsensical titles. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to learn more about moving pages, please see the guidelines on this subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Misplaced Pages. Thank you.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Holiest sites in Islam (Shia)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Holiest sites in Islam (Shia), and it appears to be very similar to another Misplaced Pages page: Holiest sites in Islam. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Misplaced Pages:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 10:02, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
