Dude - wtf?!

I started the article ] and LITERALLY got up to take a leak, came back and you had DELETED it already. The article was saved at 20:57 and Deleted by you at 20:58. WTF!?

This isn't the first time that you have done this to me - and from the looks of your Talk: page here it seems to be how you spend your time here as an administrator.

I am going to take up the issue of your overaggressive deletions through the proper channels here.

I am recreating the article. Stay away.

Thanks, everyone. I may be cutting this break rather short after all. I appreciate the support you have all shown and I promise to thank each of you personally. - Lucky 6.9 07:28, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

Reason for deletion??

I don't understand why you deleted this page --
There was more content than you've referenced in the log, it was intended to grow as the community (and I) decided to add more folks, etc. If you're going to delete, shouldn't you at least give a reason? -Jcbarr 20:40, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

Don't leave!

WikiLove

I really hope you decide to stay. You're an invaluable part of Misplaced Pages, and the work you do is important. A WikiBreak can do a world of good, so perhaps you'll consider that instead. --Cyberjunkie | Talk 07:23, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Re: your user page comment

Lucky, I just saw your user page edit. There are plenty of tasks for you to do on Misplaced Pages without speedily deleting stubs. Even among administrative tasks, you can help out at WP:CP, or WP:AFD, and so on. Don't leave. I know that you have a lower threshold for deletion than most people; you can easily help out in other areas, and you are a very valuable contributor. — Knowledge Seeker 07:24, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Problems & WikiBreak

Hi Lucky 6.9,

Do you need help? I see that you're really feeling the heat of neck-breaking WikiStress. If you have too many problems to deal with, you can try referring them to other admins (such as myself).

A Wikibreak does help in cooling yourself from the heat, but be sure to come back! I'm sure you'll feel refreshed and better when you return from real life. =)

- Cheers, Mailer Diablo 07:25, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I'd like to second Mailer's offer. If you need any help, I'd be more than happy to assist - even though I'm pretty stressed myself. Keep the love, --Cyberjunkie | Talk 07:30, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
I'd also like to offer you my help in any way possible. Lucky, you're one of the people who gives me a really warm feeling about the Misplaced Pages community. There's lots of people here doing really great work, but you go beyond that with your assistance to other users.
I suggest you consider dropping some of the activities which cause you stress, in particular new pages patrol. Someone else will pick up that duty.-gadfium 07:55, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Whoa!

Extant text was added as a vocab-stub, but it has plenty of room for expanding. All I was asking was for you to take it to AfD! I might point out that MDAC started life as one external link and is now a monster of an article. Anyway, please don't leave! - Ta bu shi da yu 11:44, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

North Shore, California

Hi Lucky 6.9,

Ahhh, I see why now.

Let the case be handled by me then.

I'd assume good faith and see if I can turn the user for the better. He/She seems to be more like a new editor that hasn't understand how policies here work.

I think it's perfectly alright to pass it through AfD and eventually be closed as 'keep'. It actually vindicates the fact your article is useful, and hopefully the new editor actually learns something from this. =)

- Cheers & Best Regards, Mailer Diablo 18:06, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

I bestow the PSI Award to polite, courteous, and helpful users. It is to be used in good mental health or to combat wiki-stress!

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O, Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Thanks for your reply. I hope that my comments were not part of the "static" that you mention on your user page. I understand that copyvio material needs to be pulled from the project. The posting was not made by me, but on discovering the text dump, I set to work paraphrasing. I guess that what I should have done would have been to copy&paste the text elsewhere, then send the copyvio for speedy delete. Nonetheless, no real harm done. It looks like you are a valued member of the WP community, and although it can feel at times like your work is unappreciated, it still makes a difference. Thanks! Gaff 19:57, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

North Shore, CA

Wow you are leaving because of me? Well I assure you that my recommendation wasn't a prank. I google searched it and it had no results relevent to the article you wrote. However the north shore link that you clicked on in MY article was actually for a neigboring town that is home to 9,865 people. I couldn't find it online and so i voted to ABSTAIN OUT OF TRUST OF YOUR ARTICLE. By the way, your friend sent me a message. Just so you know if you stay (I hope you do because i feel bad) i am a he, i am fluent in spanish and english and my intrests are included on my page (user:BPRoy). Please stay, im sorry i was the last straw.

There have been a number of last straws, my friend. I am truly overwhelmed by the outpouring having wandered in to see what was going on, but the kind of true idiocy that rolls in here on a daily basis and irreversibly clogs the servers is taking all the fun out of this site. I just permanently blocked some utter moron simply because I still can, at least for the time being. It was this same outpouring that made me decide to pull the trigger on this jackass and reconsider maybe just taking an extended wikibreak. We'll see. - Lucky 6.9 23:08, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Bum days

I've had those days too mate, when you're trying to do your best and yet all you get in return is complaints and picking at what you're doing. I think it is an admin thing to have to put up with occassionally, and every now and again someone nice will come along and make your day on your user talk page. Don't go for good mate, make it a wikibreak, but most importantly have a break, and come back rejuvinated and raring to go. Enjoy your rest! -- Francs2000 23:11, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Here, feel free to use this if you need to. And thanks for your message. -- Francs2000 23:20, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

sorry for deleting your page

i posted my comments in the wrong place, how did you get it back though because i have also had a page deleted and need to know how to add it back Perrymason 00:34, 1 November 2005 (UTC)sorry i forget to add my name again

Why did you delete Cloudland?

The article was just being started. Is there a policy which means that sub-stubs should be deleted? If so, I will re-add the article when I have more information. Brisvegas 11:30, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Deleting Stubs

My complaint with your deleting my stub was not related to the fact that you deleted a stub, it was related to the fact that you did so within the first hour of the article's existence. If it had been up there a week like that, I would have expected it to be deleted, but not after just a few minutes. I don't think that speedy deletion means that things have to be deleted within moments of being created as a worthless little stub. For what it's worth, I think when you get back from your break, that it would be good to look for articles that have been there for a while with almost no content. I found Speech Application Language Tags in such a state a month after it had been created. I added one line, but if there is no further editing of it, then maybe that would be a candidate for deletion. That sort of clean up would probably be helpful. break

Hi Lucky--I just saw you listed on Misplaced Pages:Esperanza/Alerts. You do a lot of superb work here and as is true with so many of us, it needs to be acknowledged more than it is! Take a break, come back refreshed; we don't want to lose you because you're one of the best. If newpages patrol is ever depressing to you again, write an article or two (I have to remind myself of this now and again) ... take care and best wishes, Antandrus (talk) 02:46, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Caravaggio Collection

Deletion

Hi. Reason I deleted your article is because it had no text.  :) - Lucky 6.9 22:56, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

OK. the whole point of the article was that there would be no text. It's a collection of Caravaggio paintings. the text on the Caravaggio article is at capacity already and the fans want the pictures. See the discussion page. PalX 23:15, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

ok Lucky. I am in Ireland. it's late here and I have to get some kip. Try again tomorrow. Thanks but I want a page with all the works on it so it will be quite pictorially extensive and text minimal. please bear with me while I am building as I am still a bit of a novice. Good night or good afternoon in your case. I will call the page Caravaggio Collection. PalX 23:41, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Blocking

I see you blocked User:209.192.77.119 for a violation of the WP:3RR. Reviewing his contributions, I only see one edit, though. In fact, there has not even been three reverts on the article he edited within the past twenty-four hours. Could you clarify? --24.224.153.40 00:29, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

Blocking

Hey - I've only just been unblocked by BanyanTree and now again! Ironically, I was just about to put a few {{db|nonsense}} tags on new pages when your block came up. As is ever the case, I'm an AOL user whose IP address appears to be (more often that I would like) linked with vandals.

I assure you I only mean good, you can check the archives to see how I only mean good round here. Hope the block can be lifted, or can an ipshared tag go on the IP address page ? Cheers doktorb 04:22, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

No bother - thanks for the reply. We AOLpedians do come with a bit of baggage but it'll all be reet in the end. Now, back to the editing! Take care doktorb 10:12, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

Deletion of "Rose of the Winds"

Sometimes I don't understand why you delete the things you do. I had just done a bit of research to ensure that the "Rose of the Winds" was indeed real, and I was going to expand the stub a bit. Another contributor had at least fixed up the style of the stub. Why did you delete it at that point?

rspeer 14:59, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

I didn't intend to be "jumping down your throat", though the defensive tone of your response shows you certainly interpreted it that way. Pardon me for speaking in a direct style. Anyhow, maybe you can elaborate: what part of the deletion policy applies here? I'm certainly willing to believe that I don't know all the ins and outs of the deletion policy, the complex beast that it is. But it seems that this policy, wherever it is, may need clarification, as other users above seem to have questioned your deletion of sub-stubs as well. rspeer 20:00, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

Actually, I think you're misquoting the speedy deletion criterion, which specifically emphasizes that it's not about content:

A1. Very short articles providing little or no context (e.g., "He is a funny man that has created Factory and the Hacienda. And, by the way, his wife is great."). Limited content is not in itself a reason to delete if there is enough context to allow expansion.

Though I agree that it's unnecessary to send every little article to AfD for a lengthy discussion of consensus -- you see my user page talk about "AfD and how to avoid it" -- I think that your way of avoiding AfD is more harmful than the status quo. rspeer 20:24, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

Criticism of deletion

I will go out and say it: You need to more carefully consider your deletions. For instance waterfountain's content was "see: water fountain". Instead of helping the newbie out by writing #REDIRECT, you deleted it. I wonder what other things you may have deleted that we will never know about. --WAvegetarian 00:24, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Blocking 67.191.185.41

Hi Lucky 6.9 —

I think blocking 67.191.185.41 (talk · contribs) might have been a little harsh. My guess is that he was a newbie who didn't know about copyvio rules, and thought he could get around them if he changed a couple things around. Also, he posted the second version minutes after I put up the copyvio notice and warned him, which suggests to me that he was already doing that before he got the message. Can I suggest unblocking him and just re-warning him, in the spirit of newbie non-biting? — Asbestos | Talk (RFC) 15:54, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
