Governance grammar on Somerset parishes & transient info
Hi, Thanks for improving my grammar on loads of Somerset parishes in the governance section, however I noticed you'd also remove the current MP info on Wincanton - I have not been adding this becuase it would need to be changed after the next election, however where it is included I have been leaving it because WP:UKCITIES says "Parliamentary representation (both UK and, if other than England (minus London), its devolved/assembly level representation), including who its (UK) MP is." Do you think this guideline should be changed? if so the discussion should probably be on the talk page of the guideline or on the talk page of WP:UKGEO.— Rod 13:00, 8 May 2009 (UTC) "Current" is only meaningful if accompanied by an indication of the date in question.CanOfWorms (talk) 13:18, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Collective nouns
The Economist Style Guide says "There is no firm rule about the number of a verb governed by a singular collective noun. It is best to go by the sense—that is, whether the collective noun stands for a single entity (The council was elected in March," CanOfWorms (talk) http://www.economist.com/research/styleGuide/index.cfm?page=805687

Barford St John
I've replaced all of your tags with inline citations to the source of the material. All but one refer to the same source, which I had already cited more than once in that paragraph. The result is that one paragraph now cites the same section of the same chapter of the same source six times. What does this add to the article? Anyone who refers to the relevant volume of the Victoria County History to check one of the citations will find all six in the same place. Please can we do this more concisely, without multiple iteration? Motacilla (talk) 01:47, 13 June 2009 (UTC) If we need multiple refs to one source to support multiple assertions then so be it CanOfWorms (talk) 07:32, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Fact tagging
Hi, I've reverted your edit to the Stretford article. As I've pointed out before, per WP:LEADCITE the lead of an article doesn't need to be referenced as long as the references are later in the article because the lead is a summary. Also, the sentence about Stretford being split into two manors was at the end of the paragraph. Once again, please be more careful when tagging articles. For articles of a high standard such as Good or Featured Articles it may be a good idea to leave a note on the talk page instead if you have any concerns. Playford
I have added a citation, as requested, to the Playford page giving a source for the population statistics. To be honest, I'm not convinced this is required. The Misplaced Pages guidelines on citing say that a cite should be given in the following cases:
- 2.1 When adding material that is challenged or likely to be challenged
- 2.2 When quoting someone
- 2.3 When adding material to the biography of a living person
- 2.4 When checking content added by others
- 2.5 When uploading an image
- 2.6 Qualifying sources
I'm not convinced any of these apply in this case.
I have deleted the citation request following the statement about Clarkson. This sentence has 2 wiki links and following either will lead to the ability to verify the statement.
