Sergei Markedonov is Director of the Department for Problems of Ethnic Relations at the Institute for Political and Military Analysis in Moscow. He is a prominent expert on the Caucasus and a leading commentator on Russia's Caucasian republics.
Markedonov has written extensively on conflicts in the Post-Soviet space and given many interviews on the subject in the global media. He has a PhD in history.
