TreasuryTag is currently, or is going to be, away from Misplaced Pages, between April 14 and April 19, 2009, and may not be able to respond immediately to queries. He may, however, edit a little unless he's using the splendid Wikibreak enforcer.

Re: user page deletion

I have now removed the offensive matiral and I am sorry if it offended anyone, so can I humbly ask you please to take off the page calling for my user page's deletion The C of E (talk) 18:56, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

I can't withdraw it now, since other people have argued for deletion. However, your page probably won't get deleted now that you've fixed the problem. Thanks for co-operating with this! ╟─TreasuryTagco-prince─╢ 19:04, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
OK, but can you please put in a good word with some of the people who have said delete because I fear they may not have seen my changes and end up with my page going. Thank you The C of E (talk) 19:07, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

I'm sure it won't get deleted, your changes have been noted clearly on the deletion page. ╟─TreasuryTagTellers' wands─╢ 19:12, 11 October 2009 (UTC) Thank you The C of E (talk) 19:14, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Your oppose

Part of your oppose surprised me a bit, so I'd like to talk with you about it. I hope you don't view it as "badgering". One of the reasons I do this is to keep main noticeboards and discussion pages from getting clogged up with side discussions.

You characterized me as being willing to help "gang up" on another editor. The way events unfolded was:

I don't see the offering to "gang up" here. Kikkokalabud is a relatively young editor that isn't skilled in processes (notice that he seems to think I'm an admin, and doesn't realize that even if I was, I couldn't just go make Juanacho stop editing a page). Even if I don't think Juanacho's edits are bad doesn't mean that Kikkokalabud doesn't have a legitimate dispute. If he wanted to pursue it, there's no reason not to help him with the procedure. You might also note that the only action I actually took was to ask an actual admin for advice.—Kww(talk) 20:00, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Fair enough, and I accept that there were circumstances that I wasn't aware of. However, I hope that my use of words such as "possible" etc. in my oppose made clear that I didn't know all the facts. I apologise if I misrepresented or offended you.
This said, I still oppose your adminship on the general tone/civility grounds, some of which came across in the diffs I presented, more in the links that others produced, but the majority of which is broadly apparent in your interactions. Hope that clears things up a bit (and do of course feel free to link to this response from your RfA if you wish!). ╟─TreasuryTagstannator─╢ 20:12, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

AfDs of comparison articles

Thanks for standing up for WP's mission and identity and against geekdom. Good luck, at least you tried to do what's right. Northwestgnome (talk) 21:36, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

AWB bugs

  1. AWB suggested correcting Leibnitz to Leibniz only once on the same page (Göttingen Manifesto) even though the spelling Leibnitz occurred twice
  2. AWB doesn't warn users to check whether this is the famous Leibniz or someone else with a different spelling
  3. AWB apparently doesn't warn users to be more careful with names than other words
  4. AWB doesn't notice when the supposedly incorrect spelling is the name of a WP article on the same page and warn the user that this indicates the spelling is probably not wrong --Espoo (talk) 22:48, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
Hmm, that would appear to be true. I do always try to be extremely careful, but with foreign spellings etc. I'm usually not that competent myself! You'd need to report the bugs at WT:AWB, and being a bit more polite might also help! ╟─TreasuryTagconstabulary─╢ 05:54, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
? I'd like to apologize for anything that could be considered even remotely not polite but have no idea what could be considered as such above. These are all objective, factual observations, and even if a bug report can be considered criticism, it's directed towards the bot, not you. I thought you'd know best how to get this fixed, but then i found Wikipedia_talk:AutoWikiBrowser/Bugs. Sorry for getting you upset, but it was definitely not intended. --Espoo (talk) 21:02, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Well, I'd have quite liked some pleasantry at the beginning and/or end of your message, rather than just a numbered list of whinges/problems as you actually produced. Particularly since it was misdirected! ╟─TreasuryTagconstablewick─╢ 21:05, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Well, let me be a bit clearer. Changing a name without checking if the change is correct is a clear violation of Misplaced Pages:AutoWikiBrowser#Rules_of_use, especially if the name occurs a second time and is changed only once and especially if it's the name of a lemma linked to on the same page. Using something as powerful as AWB entails a lot of responsibility because it can produce changes that are essentially vandalism, albeit unintentional of course. This responsibility also includes not being upset if you should get aggressive comments by others about incorrect changes. My blaming AWB for not having automated warnings concerning names was in fact very polite and friendly. Your talk about foreign spellings was a clear attempt to shirk responsibility for changes you didn't check because even English names are often spelled in very different ways. And i really appreciate the effort you put into trying to clean up WP using AWB, but when you use something as geeky as AWB, you should expect to get matter-of-fact, objective bug lists like i wrote. --Espoo (talk) 21:33, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
OK; it is not vandalism in any shape or form, because vandalism is by definition intentional. You were not polite and friendly, you just posted a list of whinges on my talkpage. You're accusing me of trying to shirk responsibility and being geeky, of violating rules and trying to evade scrutiny, and I do not want to hear from you again, at all, under any circumstances. Thanks. ╟─TreasuryTagconstablewick─╢ 07:00, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
