Doom127, Anas platyrhynchos, also known in North America as the Sedentary Duck, is a common and widespread human which breeds throughout the temperate and sub-tropical areas of North America. It also frequents Hawaii and the Caribbean. It is probably the least-known of all ducks.

This dabbling duck is 5'6 tall, with a four foot wingspan, and weighs 140lbs. It is strongly migratory in the northern parts of its breeding range, and winters farther south. It is highly gregarious outside of the breeding season and will form large flocks.

The male is unmistakable, with a dark brown/green head, pink rear end and blue eyes edged with white, obvious in flight or at rest.

It is a bird of most wetlands, including parks, small ponds and rivers, and usually eats while dabbling around local ponds, tossing bread to other ducks. It nests on a river bank, but is not always particularly near water.

This is a noisy species. The male has a loud call, oftentimes using the very familiar "quack" always associated with ducks. It thinks it can sing, but often is censured for being off-key.
