			I need a WikiBreak. A ''long'' one. Maybe even a permanent one. I'm almost certain this project is heading, as the old folks say, "to hell in a handbasket". I think Misplaced Pages is becoming a victim of its own success (and rabid fans who can't edit themselves...and street-teamers in disguise...and relentless vandals...and overly flexible guidelines that unfortunately assume too much of the merits of many users. I know people in general don't like rules, regulation, and having to conform, but to write a good encyclopedia, you sorta kinda ''need'' those things.
	'''FuriousFreddy''' (born under some different name, sometime in ], somewhere in the ]; but he's not telling what, when, or where) is an ] ''(no, not just "American")'' ], ], ], ] artist, ], ], ], ], and budding (very much so) ]. He formerly went by the user name of ] and decided to change his name, but since name-change requests aren't done anymore, he did his manually. He is currently in development of his own ] and ], after several fits and starts over the last five years. Meanwhile, he works a full time job and several part-time ones as well.

			I know there's some talk about bringing in quality control mechanisms, and hopefully we can get some hard standards in place for things like music coverage, for the sakes of consistency and preventing fangushing article on every Hilary Duff or whoever record that comes out. When the infrastructure gets upgraded to help make making Misplaced Pages "the most authoritative source in the world" (or whatever that quote is) something closer to possible, you'll see me back.

	As a Misplaced Pages editor, Uncle Freddy has been somewhat disillusioned. He believes in the principle of Misplaced Pages, but also finds it (a) very addictive; (b) very time consuming, to the detriment of other recreational activities and even work; and (c) very ''very'' stressful, when encoutering stubborn, ignorant, rude, crass, or oblivious persons who either don't know about the ideals behind an encyclopedia, don't care, or just enjoy drama.

			And, plus, the addiction has just gotten to be too much. As the quality of Misplaced Pages decreases becasue of vandals, anons, POV pushers, street teamers, etc., ''my'' time spent here (or at least my number of edits) increases exponentially trying to bring it all back in line. I can't keep up anymore; it's bad for my health.
	What Misplaced Pages really needs is some sort of quality-control system, that maybe puts a lock on poorly written articles and prevents them from being seen by the public until they are fixed. Another thing it really needs is a stricter set of rules. I know it sort of goes against the ideal of "open source", but open source programming is already aided by restricting its contributors to persons who are well-versed in programming skills, while any Joe Blow, from the intelligent scholar to the blathering idiot, can hit that "edit" button and make a change, good or bad. And Misplaced Pages's lean towards "consensus rule" has been shown to be easily abused, and I really can't put trust in it.

	However, Misplaced Pages's like an abusive relationship sometimes...I just can't break away, no matter how badly it treats me. After several extended breaks and attempted retirements, I'm sticking around ot see if I can't get some of those proposed quality control policies set in motion.

And, plus, the addiction has just gotten to be too much. As the quality of Misplaced Pages decreases becasue of vandals, anons, POV pushers, street teamers, etc., my time spent here (or at least my number of edits) increases exponentially trying to bring it all back in line. I can't keep up anymore; it's bad for my health.
