Hi

Maybe you changed a template accidentally. I changed it back assuming good faith. ▒ ♪ ♫ Wifione ♫ ♪ ▒ ―Œ 04:40, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Tables

I hope the huge series of changes I just made to that page are more or less to your liking. Once I finally sunk my teeth into it, I saw one thing after another that needed to be fixed with a chainsaw.

We'll see if people revert me like they did you, although I am hiding behind a +10 magical user name.  :-P Plus I've been providing extensive rationales for my changes -- as you seem to have learned by now, if you take the time to explain what you're doing and why (and people actually agree with the explanation), they're much less likely to get in your way.

It'll also help that none of my changes constitute "new instructions" -- mostly I just simplified a lot of existing instruction and pointed to related guidance that is already in place on other pages.

Sorry to add the micro-lecture, but I felt like explaining why I'm likelier to get away with such massive changes than you are. You've clearly been getting the hang of it, though, so I'll take this opportunity to compliment you on that.--Father Goose (talk) 06:22, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh, and sorry about this, it came off sounding condescending. Nonetheless I'm pretty sure someone did mention it to you before.--Father Goose (talk) 08:56, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Request reason:

You guys made a mistake. I'm not using a bot.174.3.110.108 (talk) 07:15, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Please answer Bwilkins' question (below). How are you managing to perform edits at up to four times a minute? Usage of an IP for such rapid edits may set off vandalism alarms and waste the time of patrollers at Special:RecentChanges. This kind of work should be done with a registered account. There is no problem creating a separate account to do such work, if you properly identify it and explain what is going on. You do not seem to be a new editor, and this must not be your first account. EdJohnston (talk) 15:11, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Then, do you care to explain the wide range of very fast edits across a number of articles? (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 10:23, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

I can make three or four edits in a minute, if I'm doing little fixes and if my connection is working at full speed. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:37, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Looking at the history, the editor made 68 edits in 45 minutes, but most were tiny fixes - I suppose the speed may have looked like a bot. A lot were a change of otheruses3 to otheruses - which is correct - indeed most of the edits have not been reverted, one can also see longer time gaps in the contibutions where the editor has been adding data to a talk page, a bot would not do that. So I'm now inclined to unblock.  Ronhjones  21:56, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Commons and Wikispecies template formatting

Please stop unilaterally changing templates from inline ones to floating boxes (for example, Template:Commonscat-inline to Template:Commonscat. The separate templates are maintained for a reason, and particular formatting was clearly chosen by those articles' editors. Further, in some instances, you've changed Template:Commonscat to Template:Commons. So this all just seems indiscriminate and a personal preference rather than a constructive change. Perhaps you should discuss it somewhere centralized first to see if others agree with what you want to do to apparently many, many articles. postdlf (talk) 06:05, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, you may not know that Misplaced Pages has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in Tokyo Mew Mew, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Further, your stalking and harassment are disgusting and will not be tolerated. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 13:47, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make any unconstructive edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant warnings.

Can you see how it would have been more useful to say either, "Yes, I can see that the headline styles I added were different than those in the rest of the article," or "Actually, there's a good reason that I used different headline styles, and it is..." rather than the above, which does not make it more likely that you will reach agreement? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 23:19, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Ok, I will append accordingly.174.3.110.108 (talk) 23:23, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

If you are wondering what my motivation for editing your 4 articles, it is because considering you were the only person who objected to the changes to wp:table, and then you did not explain your objections, considering that you made no contribution the current version of wp:table, I did not think you had invoked the changes to "your" articles. So when I checked your articles, I just so happened that the changes I made were changes that seemed not without reason.

Some people are actually opening receptive of changes.

Again, leave them alone. Even FG told you that already. As for WP:TABLE, it became clear that you and FG were just going to write it to match your own ideas, without seeking any real community consensus or input. As such, it is no longer a community backed guideline, nor would I make any changes to the articles I edited based on a single newbie editor's changes to a guideline that is not related to them when he obviously doesn't even have a basic fundamental understanding of anything related to Misplaced Pages.
