Jonathan Doscher(born Jonathan Henry Doscher on January 11, 1971) is best known as an up and coming, American film producer/actor for such works as Remedy, The Gentleman, 4CHOSEN, and Harry: A Communication Breakdown.
Early Life/Career
Jon was born and raised in Northern New Jersey just outside of New York City. Growing up as a teenager in the 1980’s, Jon studied Drama at Pascack Hills High School and spent hours at home shooting videos and scenes/sketches with close friends; But it would be years later before Jon realized that he wanted to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a success in the entertainment industry.
After attending community college, Jon decided to start his own business, Doscher’s Power Clean Incorporated, a painting and power-washing company that ran effectively for twelve years. This came as no surprise to most, Doscher being the product of his father, a third-generation ironworker and a self-motivated individual whose credits include construction on the World Trade Center among others.
Then, in 1997, Jon left his construction/ironworking background behind and started a magazine publishing company. He began this entrepreneurship with a home-improvement magazine entitled Home Contractor’s Review. Soon after that, he teamed up with partner, Kevin Leckner in 1998 to create That’s Life Magazine, an entertainment industry publication. The success of That’s Life helped launch Jon into the business that he always dreamed of conquering.
Career as Actor
It was in 1999 that Doscher boldly made his first move toward his segue into film. With a box of cigars and a short letter, Jon sought advice from famed actor, Jack Nicholson. Though the legendary screen actor took his time to respond, Nicholson finally did write back. After this break-through is when Doscher made the decision to attend the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York City; He was accepted.
Just a few weeks after beginning his studies at the prestigious institute, a second opportunity came knocking; Jon was under contract and working on actor/musician Danny Aiello’s home when he befriended the acclaimed actor. It was at this juncture in his life that Jon took Aiello’s advice and left the studying of acting behind to actively pursue the craft.
After making small appearances in films like Sweet Home Alabama and Analyze That, Jon broke through with his debut in a lead role in the independent feature film, Remedy, alongside actors like Vincent Pastore, Arthur Nascarella, and Frank Vincent. During this time, Jon was also cast in the feature film, This Thing of Ours, starring James Caan. He was also seen as the lead character in the off-broadway play, Rain Delay.
