My Response
I've posted my thoughts in the ANI thread. To sum up: I see what you did as a bad idea, but not a violation of anything in specific. The sentiment seems to be that the indef block is excessive, even from some people you wouldn't normally count as fans, but I'm not going to take any action on it one way or the other. I expect that some totally uninvolved admin is probably going to look things over and demote the block to "time served" within the next few hours. Once that happens, we should have a serious conversation about how to best help newbies deal with Wikipolitics, too. For now, hope you're off taking a Wikibreak and de-stressing. If not, do so--the thread will absolutely be just fine without you. Cheers, Jclemens (talk) 17:42, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Concerned
I'm concerned that you seem to think I have some sort of vendetta against you. I don't. In general I am happy for AfD to lead to rapid improvement of articles and I'm on record as supporting its renaming to articles for discussion, as we do for some other content areas; keep and delete have not been the only outcomes for a long time, after all. I don't think much of the whole business of pretending to be the Coastguard saving lives, most of the rescued articles are still marginal even after rescue, but that's just my own personal inclusion standards which I recognise are above the community norm. I am rather more concerned about giving poor advice to people whose behaviour needs modification, and ascribing motives where none exist. Guy (Help!) 18:21, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Deletion nomination of Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons/Contest/Box
Hi Okip, this is a message from an automated bot, regarding Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons/Contest/Box. You blanked the page and, since you are its sole author, FrescoBot has interpreted it as a request for deletion of the page and asked administrators to satisfy the requests per speedy deletion criterion G7. Need help
http://en.wikipedia.org/Extentia_Information_Technology This article was suddenly deleted under speedy deletion criteria. Need help restoring it. How can we do a 'fundamental rewrite in order to become encyclopedic' ? You have guided me before. Thanks. Wikiven (talk) 08:09, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- He retired. Anyway, you contact the administrator who closed it, and ask him to restore it. Mention that Google news gives them coverage. Read through those results and find one that really stands out. That'll prove to them that it deserves an article, since that's what most people seem to go by these days. File source problem with File:Count Alexander Flodorvich Lanzjeron.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Count Alexander Flodorvich Lanzjeron.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Misplaced Pages's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:33, 8 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:33, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Just a piece of advice
You're an established user, so I won't use a template message to say this, but you should know better than to make edits like this one. Calling someone a 'pathetic liar' is a violation of our WP:NPA policy. I understand you've had conflicts with this user in the past, but in that case what you should do is disengage and just ignore them rather than further stoking the conflict. I recommend you concentrate on editing articles instead, and if you're feeling stressed, take a wikibreak rather than make an edit you'll later regret. Robofish (talk) 13:07, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- AniMate called A Nobody a "pathetic person", so Okip responded with calling AniMate a "pathetic liar". Got to take things in context here. Dream Focus 13:44, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- On closer inspection, you're right - I see that Okip's 'pathetic liar' comment was in reference to AniMate's comment about A Nobody. My apologies. Still, responding to one personal attack with another is never a good idea, so I just hope that all these editors can avoid insulting each other in future. Robofish (talk) 15:03, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- The first categorical difference is that one comment was made on Misplaced Pages, the other one was not. The second categorical difference is that Animate's Wikia comment was a conditional: He said that A Nobody was "pathetic" if several conditions were fulfilled. We all know they were, but Animate did not claim that, thus he didn't even "call A Nobody pathetic" at Wikia. Whereas Okip did, in fact, call Animate pathetic on Misplaced Pages, outright and went scot-free another time. Just noting the facts. --87.79.167.3 (talk) 08:47, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Seriously you ought to be shot for deleting that article from wikipedia. Of all the lazy, ignorant things to do. You could have found a source in a minute and saved it. Dr. Blofeld 19:29, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- Doctor Blofeld - Okip has never deleted any article from Misplaced Pages. Is there a real reason for this attack or have you perhaps made a mistake? pablohablo. 20:02, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- Actually he moved it to Misplaced Pages:Article Incubator/Unreferenced BLPs/Australia/Annette Andre. I think this is a perfect example of why I don't like the incubator idea - an unlinked and uncategorised overlooked article that is still on the Internet but not where you'd expect it to be, and then we wind up with two articles on the same subject. I'll merge them. ϢereSpielChequers 20:49, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Hello Okip. In February you added a citation to a book from the "Webster's Quotations" series published by Icon Group International to this article. Unfortunately, Icon Group International is not a reliable source - their books are computer-generated, with most of the text copied from Misplaced Pages (most entries have by them to indicate this). I'm removing a lot of similar references; many other editors have also been deceived by these sources. Another publisher that reuses Misplaced Pages articles is Alphascript Publishing. Article Rescue
You once gave me some good advice on an AfD . Much appreciated. The issue has come up again. In researching similar and related AfDs I see that there is no bright line separating educational lists deleted due to WP:NOTDIR and those educational lists which satisfy it. I was hoping that you might have some insights. --Paleorthid (talk)

FeydHuxtable has given you a kitten! Kittens promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Kittens must be fed three times a day and will be your faithful companion forever! Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a kitten, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.
Spread the goodness of kittens by adding {{subst:Kitten}} to someone's talk page with a friendly message!

Hey, thanks
Today my 25th article was featured in DYK. It's my 6th DYK for an article that someone else started, it was at AfD after being created by a new editor, and I was able not just to advise him/her (I see they made another new article today) and save the article from deletion but to expand the article and get them joint credit at DYK. I didn't know about DYK till someone nominated my Ali Forney article. I have learned so many useful things, like categories, dropping text below a pic or table, the basics of templates . . . from people patiently editing my articles, and from looking at examples edited by other people. From adding various lists of AfDs to my watchlist once I became aware of those, I've been able to save numerous articles and learned a lot from their topics. From that "Save a BLP" widget you used to link to on your userpage, I came upon Peter Zinovieff - which led me to create the page for his mother, Sofka Skipwith. Somewhere along the line I found the Pages Needing Translation into English project, and from there Category:Rough Translations - both have provided not only fun articles for me to clean up (I'm a geek that way, I genuinely enjoy making a good translation, and the assortment of topics and original languages keep it exciting) but inspiration for new stuff to translate, expand, or write up from scratch. I seem to have had a fairly rapid learning curve - no one objected to my first article, Leon Douglass, which was written in MS Word based on another biographical article, because I wanted to learn the markup language for a private Wiki (which came to nothing) and I had this newspaper clipping on this fascinating guy . . . What I wanted to remind you is how connected and collaborative it all is. You inspired me and showed me resources to help me find my way around here, whether you knew it or not. You did so for many others too, probably far more than you think. Whatever Jim Wales' defects as a founder or a leader, and no matter how top-heavy the structure is here (it may be inevitable that a large project attracts those who like bossing others around and rewards them for it), the crowd-sourcing model does work. A bunch of us together spot vandalism and revert it. A bunch of us together see weaknesses in an article and make it better. A bunch of us together see an AfD and fix up the article. I am glad to see you telling someone you are happier now you are away from here, but I wanted to stick an embarrassing reminder here of what good ripples you put in the pond, and a public notice of how Misplaced Pages really does work, still.
