re Henry Darger
According to the article "...he attended Mass daily, frequently returning for as many as five services..." I don't know how much more Roman Catholic you can get than that. Herostratus (talk) 05:57, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- And that statement in the article does not have a reliable source. "The threshold for inclusion in Misplaced Pages is verifiability, not truth." Please do not restore the category without a source for the statement, per WP:BLPCAT. Thank you.
- Yes, I tagged it. Thanks. Cresix (talk) 16:59, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Re Seven Kingdoms (band)
- I posted on my page, under the Seven Kingdoms (band) section my Notability information. Can you please help review so it passes the Discussion stage? Bravehrt77 (talk) 16:59, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- I have posted an additional question on my talk page. When you do have time, could you please have a look? Thanks. (talk) 16:59, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Proposed merge of List of magical negro archetypes in fiction into Magical negro
Hi,
As you participated in Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/List of magical negro archetypes in fiction, I am notifying you of the proposed merger. Please comment at Talk:Magical negro#Proposing a merger. Thank you, Bigger digger (talk) 16:52, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Wayback template parameters
Most "normal" citation templates ({{cite web}}, etc.) have archiveurl= and archivedate= fields for adding link to an archived version if the original URL is dead. DMacks (talk) 18:15, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
It's raining thanks spam!
- Please pardon the intrusion. This tin of thanks spam is offered to everyone who commented or !voted (Support, Oppose or Neutral) on my recent RfA. I appreciate the fact that you care enough about the encyclopedia and its community to participate in this forum.
- There are a host of processes that further need community support, including content review (WP:GAN, WP:PR, WP:FAC, and WP:FAR). You can also consider becoming a Misplaced Pages Ambassador. If you have the requisite experience and knowledge, consider running for admin yourself!
- If you have any further comments, input or questions, please do feel free to drop a line to me on my talk page. I am open to all discussion. Thanks • Ling.Nut (talk) 02:23, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

- I prefer to keep the friendly messages too, but guess it's always better in instances like this to revert, and then allow the talk page owner to deal with it as they see fit. At least I learnt a new word! Bigger digger (talk) 16:15, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- I've learned a lot of new words here at the Misplaced Pages. Thanks again for protective revert. Herostratus (talk) 16:20, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Greetings from the Contribution Team
Greetings! Please excuse this intrusion on your talk page, and allow me to invite you to participate on the newly-formed Misplaced Pages Contribution Team, or WP:CONTRIB for short! The goal of the team is to attract more and better contributions specifically to the English Misplaced Pages, as well as to help support the fundraising team in our financial and editing contribution goals. We have lots of stuff to work on, from minor and major page building, to wikiproject outreach, article improvement, donor contacting, and more -- in fact, part of our mission is to empower team members to make their own projects to support our mission. Some of our projects only take a few minutes to work on, while others can be large, multi-person tasks -- whatever your interest level, we're glad to have you. If this sounds of interest to you, please visit WP:CONTRIB and sign onto the team. Even if there does not appear to be anything that really speaks out as being work you'd like to do, I'd encourage you to join and follow the project anyway, as the type of work we'll be doing will certainly evolve and change over time. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me, or ask on the Contribution talk page. Regards, ⇒DanRosenthal 19:42, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

MfD nomination of Misplaced Pages:Hardcore images
Misplaced Pages:Hardcore images, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Misplaced Pages:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Hardcore images and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Misplaced Pages:Hardcore images during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Cptnono (talk) 04:17, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
re Gail Dines
According to the WP:BLP page, it must have the following traits: 1. Neutral point of view 2. Verifiability 3. No original research
In order to present the article in a fair manner, both Dines' merits and demerits must be listed.
The references' being blogs and YouTube videos in no way undermines their validity or credibility. The blog references are reports of personal experiences and are thus valid. Beth isn't talking about a friend of a friend or some girl down the street; she's talking about her own experiences with Dines. Nina Hartley is a prominent adult film actress and director, and thus her criticism of Dines is valid and deserves to be heard. Despite the fact that Penn & Teller are magicians and comedians and that their show — Penn & Teller: Bullshit! — may appear flippant because of its name, their assertions and statements are factual, logical and substantiated. Penn makes a valid argument in response to Dines' unsubstantiated assertion. If you watch the episode, titled "War on Porn," you will see Dines repeatedly say that she has no studies to support her arguments. She instead bases all her assertions on presumptions based on her personal thoughts and interpretations of different things.
While I understand what you are trying to preserve, I must make it clear that removing statements from an article just because they appear to be "harsh" or that the references are blogs or YouTube videos is not the right. The criticism is valid and deserves to be heard. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Varunpramanik (talk • contribs) 04:43, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
American pop culture
(Also posted to User talk:OlEnglish.) I removed the articles that were in Category:American pop culture because I was attempting to refocus the category from being a catch-all of things in American pop culture to articles actually *about* pop culture. Sorry for not responding earlier; I was, indeed, busy. :) Trivialist (talk) 00:01, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Divine intervention on Ashkenazi intelligence
I'm not sure why you backed down so easily here: Talk:Ashkenazi_intelligence#Bizarro_Wikipedia. Most users agreed with you and you could probably get a consensus to get that quote removed. It's frankly creepy that "religious reasoning" is being treated like scientific proof of something -- especially on wikipedia. Furthermore it's complete WP:WEIGHT issue since almost all those comments are sourced from one academic's (Charles Murray) book. Bulldog123 02:32, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
"The VIetnamese Girl"
Per the discussion here. She does have a name, if you were wondering; it's Phan Thị Kim Phúc. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 07:21, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
- Did not know that. In my experience, most people don't, and refer to her as "The little Vietnamese girl..." Herostratus (talk) 18:20, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
- Well, now you do. Good luck trying to pronounce it, though... The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 18:33, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Copyright tag needed
Can you please add a copyright tag to File:Tom Tresh's career batting averages.png that you uploaded recently. Thanks ww2censor (talk) 06:52, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
License tagging for File:Tom Tresh's career batting averages.png
Thanks for uploading File:Tom Tresh's career batting averages.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Misplaced Pages uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Misplaced Pages.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:05, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

hallo, it's part of the manual of style, Misplaced Pages:Manual_of_Style_(layout)#See_also_section "Links already integrated into the body of the text are generally not repeated in a "See also" section" to avoid duplication Tom B (talk) 03:41, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Redirecting the Harbinger Community
Redirecting non-notable articles is perfectly normal - and this one is certainly not notable, it's not even verifiable. Reverting it if you think I'm right merely for the sake of procedure is really an exercise in timewasting. Could you please self-revert to save us the rigmarole of AfD, and people telling me that "AfD is not for redirecting". Fences&Windows 17:56, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Barbara Newhall Follett
On 8 January 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Barbara Newhall Follett, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Barbara Newhall Follett, who by age fourteen had published two novels to critical acclaim, left her apartment the night of December 7, 1939, at age twenty-five, and was never seen again? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
