I'm afraid I'm too busy of late to take this on, and I suspect from the comments you've provided that I am too close to some of this to serve as a neutral party. Have you considered asking a mediator if they know of anyone suitable? While if, as it seems, it involves many different parties, mediation wouldn't really suit, perhaps one could be convinced to talk out the situation. In any case, I would prefer not to comment further myself; sorry not to be able to do this. ] ] 03:41, 4 April 2006 (UTC) |

Judi McLeod
The reason the section in question had a POV tone was that it read like an argumentative essay or opinion piece rather than as an objective passage. I'm not a fan of McLeod, in fact, she's complained to Jimbo about my earlier edits to the article and suggested I'm someone known to her (I'm not). Anyway, we have to be careful not to mix one's own feelings with one's writing.
My "vendetta" remark was made as an editing comment but I don't think I put it in the body of the article (or if I did, I removed it) since saying someone is acting out a vendetta is an opinion and should only be said if it's attributable to someone (eg "so and so has said that McLeod backed Layton out of a vendetta").
I'm also going to put the reference to Levant back in since their feud is relatively high-profile and well documented. If they kiss and make up at a later date we can revise the article accordingly. Homey 02:03, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
- You're an administrator. I'm a newbie. I'll defer to your good judgement on these things. --Cyberboomer 00:52, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
Judi McLeod et al.
I'll preface this with one thing: I know nothing about Canadian politics. Misplaced Pages received several emailed complaints that material in these articles was libelous and/or not verifiable from credible sources. I do not know the truth of these remarks, but I asked others to help clean up these articles to eliminate assertions that could not be verified or were not written neutrally. I have no interest in these articles other than avoiding legal action against us; if you are able to write neutrally and add information that can be clearly linked to a credible source then feel free to edit, just do keep in mind that it is a heated topic. As to the smear campaign remarks, yes, perhaps I should have stated that they claim it; I don't recall if at the time I found evidence to support it. Rachel Marsden
Hi Cyberboomer, thanks so much for your kind words about the Marsden article. I've spent a hell of a lot of time on that thing and it's nice to know that somebody is appreciating it.
As for the links you provided about her father, very interesting... the parallels are really ironic. Unfortunately though I can't find any proof to confirm that he is indeed her father. Do you have any?
Thanks again for your message and feel free to add an edit or two sometime. :) Pasboudin 02:06, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for bringing those links to my attention. It's nice to see that the article is being used as a reference, I feel it is definitely worthy.
- I added the sourced information about her father to the article. What do you think? Feel free to edit it at will if you feel that something needs to be changed. :) Pasboudin 00:53, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
- Excellent work on the investigate work, Cyberboomer. Please see my latest edit as I incorporated your findings. Pasboudin 04:52, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the note on my user page. It's been like whack-a-mole in there. I dare say the socks will be out with a vengeance on the 12th, when his block expires. Wiederaufbau 02:15, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
Ian Blair
Hi Cyberboomer. Nice to hear from you, thanks for your message. I am not familiar with Ian Blair but from what I can see he does not merit his own Misplaced Pages article, and I would support your vote for deletion. Pasboudin 21:10, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Freemasonry link to Kofi Annan's father disappears from Misplaced Pages
Thanks for the message. Anyway, I personally looked through each of the over 500 revisions to Kofi Annan, and found no mention of "freemason" in any of them. — TheKMan 01:55, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, I don't know what happened—it's not immediately obvious to me what's up there. (I don't actually know anything about the Canada Free Press other than what they've emailed to Wikimedia.) You might like to bring it up on the talk pages of the relevant articles if you haven't already... I can't really tell you if the content is verifiable or not without doing research. Canada Free Press article about Misplaced Pages: Freemasonry link to Kofi Annan's father disappears from Misplaced Pages
Thank you for your contributions to Judi McLeod.
Judi McLeod has published another article about Misplaced Pages. Freemasonry link to Kofi Annan's father disappears from Misplaced Pages
Do you know more about this? McLeod's article doesn't tell us what date the claim was first posted. I can't find any recent changes on Kofi Annan. A discussion has begun on the relevant talk page. TheKMan went through 542 revisions to this article, from the first on 03:06, 23 September 2001 to the last at 01:43, 8 February 2006. None of those revisions have any mention of the word "freemason".
Were there any covert article deletions?
It is possible McLeod may have confused Misplaced Pages with this website
I really would like to get to the bottom of this. I left a note on Jimbo's talk page but have not heard back. If you can't help, can you recomment a particular SysOp I should contact? --Cyberboomer 23:48, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, this article is how I discovered her. I'm probably the most suited sysop for the job. I am the Canadian press contact and the Canadian representative of the newly founded Communications Committee for the Wikimedia Foundation. Kofi Annan's article has never been deleted, so no edits are hidden. There is no possible way, within the confines of the MediaWiki software Misplaced Pages uses, that edits can be manually hidden, even by Jimmy Wales himself.
- I don't believe she confused us with William Shaw Cross' site, as that still mentions the Freemason theory. I'll cross post this response to the talk page, so we can all work on a response for me to send out to her, on behalf of the org. -- user:zanimum
I posted a draft letter to the editor/letter to the author, for everyone's review, at talk:Kofi Annan. -- user:zanimum
The Letter has yet to be posted to their blog. Granted, no other letters have. -- user:zanimum
Kate McMillian
Hey -- saw you added the importance tag to the KM article. I think that all of the info there is the extent of her claim to fame (well known blogger, hangs out with politicians, etc.); if you think it's not enough then do go ahead and put an AfD on it. (I think it's important enough, but there really isn't much to add beyond what's already there AFAIK, and would not be opposed to a second AfD to see what people think.) Marsden
Thanks for the award, bud :) Can't take all the credit though, was definitely a group effort this time around. I'm glad we were able to come up with a couple compromises while maintaining the integrity of the page.
As for your recent comments about the discussion board, kind of confusing to be honest, anything that can be incorporated into the article? Pasboudin 01:21, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
re: Pasboudin
Thanks for your comment about Pasboudin. I agree completely both with you on what you said on my page about Pasboudin and his fairness. My message to him was very focussed on the particular moment he was writing. He and I were editing the same bit on the same day and I saw the potential that we'd be getting in one another's way or that a revert war would start making any progress impossible. As it happens, it's all blown over, and (more importantly) the article is looking much better now. There is still some ways to go, but it is looking better.Bucketsofg
Possible impersonation on Misplaced Pages
On the talk:Rachel Marsden page user:Gordon Walsh claims to be the Managing Editor of the Toronto Sun. user: 70.25.152.39 whose identity is no secret to many of us, claims to have spoken to the real Gordon Walsh who denies ever posting to Misplaced Pages. Can you please take time out of your busy schedule and phone the Toronto Sun and find out whether this is correct? Thanks. --Cyberboomer 23:13, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry about the delay, Cyberboomer. Being in college has been a distraction over the last little while. Would you still like me to get in contact with the Sun? -- user:Zanimum
Peter Tabuns
Thanks for bringing it to my attention — some of them definitely seem like POV edits, while others just seem like the kind of meaningless nice-to-meet-you fluff one would write in a campaign brochure ("He cares about people and is passionate about protecting our environment and providing excellent public services." Like any politician is going to claim not to care about people?) I'll do a bit of cleanup and keep it watchlisted. Bearcat 01:31, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
Page Blanking
On 06-Mar, you blanked Bob MacDonald. Blanking pages is generally considered a bad idea. I've reverted it to the previous version. If you believe the redirect should be deleted, please follow the redirect portion of the deletion procedures. If you believe an article should be written instead of the redirect, please write a stub. If you have questions, please let me know. Thanks! -- JLaTondre 02:56, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Kofi Annan in Canada Free Press article and The Bramptonian
I've started a discussion on the CFP talk page re: SlimVirgin deleting the Kofi Annan paragraph. You contributed to the passage. Please feel free to let your reasons for the paragraph staying or going be known. Also, please feel free to change my edits to The Bramptonian if you don't like them. --Cyberboomer 00:25, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- Done. Why did you choose to paraphrase the Globe article's title? While this makes it more precise, it makes it harder to research for those wanting to find the reference itself in the Globe database. -- Zanimum 00:38, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I didn't paraphrase it. I copied it from an earlier version of the article that another user had contributed. It never occurred to me to doublecheck the article title, which is actually Year after firing by paper pair help to publish rival. I'll change it right now. --Cyberboomer 00:47, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- Oh cool, I thought you had added it. -- Zanimum 00:49, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
