CastleMiner Z is an Xbox Live Indie Game that was released on November 9, 2011.
CastleMiner Z is considered an expansion of CastleMiner. In CastleMiner Z, players have to mine for their own minerals instead of being given minerals to them. Players can also craft weapons, such as a rifle or a knife. The other important change is the addition of zombies as enemies. There are currently over 200 blocks in the game, each with their own unique design. Players can teleport to the surface, starting point or another player's location. While CastleMiner Z is obviously inspired from Minecraft, it does differ is a few ways. For example, CastleMiner Z is considered a horror/survival game, because of its environment, enemies, and often lack of light.
Online modes normally accompany a 1–3 player co-op mode.
Awards
CastleMiner Z introduces "Awards", which are awarded for doing different things such as playing online for a certain number of hours, traveling at least a certain distance, crafting various items, and killing several zombies.
Reception
CastleMiner Z was the #1 downloaded Indie of 2011. It is widely considered the best XBLIG, and it has received a lot of awards because of this.
