The 1958 Open Championship was a golf tournament played at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, England. Peter Thomson won his fourth Open Championship title in five years, prevailing in a 36-hole playoff over Dave Thomas.

Peter Thomson, winner of three consecutive Open Championships from 1954-56 and runner-up in 1957, took the opening round lead with a 66. Christy O'Connor Sr. led after 36-holes with rounds of 67-68, but Thomson retook the lead after a third-round 67. Thomson closed with a 73 to post a 278 total, while Dave Thomas carded a 71 in the final round to tie and force a playoff. O'Connor and Eric Brown finished a shot behind. Thomson led Thomas in the playoff after 18-holes, shooting 68 to Thomas' 69. He widened that advantage by a further three-shots on the second 18-holes, prevailing 139 to 143.

Thomson won his fourth Open Championship, and he would add a fifth title in 1965. Thomas would again finish runner-up in the Open in 1966. Gene Sarazen, the 1932 Open champion, made the cut for the final time in an Open Championship at the age of 56. Three-time champion Henry Cotton finished in 8th, his last Top 10 finish.
