commons:Category:PD Afghan images requiring verification

  • All images in this category needs to be reviewed
  • The template used to be "anything from Afghanistan is in the public domain" because Afghanistan lacked a copyright law.
  • We now know Afghanistan does have a copyright law which requires life+50 years for copyright to expire.
  • Some images are free for other reasons such as images being in the public domain for being works of US Fed Gov employees or images tagged with CC-BY-SA.
    • Some users have overwritten existing free licenses with PD-Afghan, these can be seen in file history.

I hope this explains. -- A Certain White Cat 01:53, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

News archive search request

Hi there Laura, I've noticed from your previous contributions to AfDs that you seem to have access to a "bigger/better than google" news archive service. Are you able to review Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Maynard (Australian media personality) and help determine if he was the subject of "significant coverage" when he was the Triple J breakfast guy (he was called "Maynard F# Crabbes" (pronounced F-Sharp) back then, and was one of the stereotypical "wacky breakfast radio guys". I grew up listening to him, and I'm sure that he would have had a profile or ten done in the weekend newspapers etc. Thanks. The-Pope (talk) 00:08, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Women's national football teams by class

FIFA national women's football teams by class

Hi. The maps are hand curated. I'll get to work on a map for women's football teams ASAP per your request. I'll put it on the task force page once I've finished. Delsion23 (talk) 18:45, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Here is the map, as promised. I've coloured the countries missing teams or articles in brown. I've added it to the taskforce page, and also added a progress bar for the project. Thanks for the appreciation :) I'm glad the maps are useful and hope this one is too. Keep up the good work on sports articles! Delsion23 (talk) 21:08, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you!

Much thanks on behalf of the National Teams Task Force for your effort to create articles for every women's national team.

To take a little load off your shoulders, I'll work on Mauritius and maybe a few after that. All this time I thought they didn't have a national team! Whatever, I guess I didn't look hard enough. Again, thank you so much. -- BCS (t · c · !) 19:40, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Review request

Hi Laura. I added an alternate hook to the Aspioti-ELKA DYK here. If it isn't too much trouble I would really appreciate if you could review it. Of course I would understand if you didn't feel so inclined. Thanks again. Δρ.Κ.  06:14, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

DYK Nomination for RST

Laura, thank you very much for your directed feedback. In response to your critique: I can remove the Origins section of this article altogether; however, RST actually evolved from Gray's Biopsychological Theory, which grew out of Eysenck's related work, the Extraversion-Arousal hypothesis. Because the users on the Talk page of RST specifically asked for these additions (i.e. the evolution and historical context of the theory) and because there is a stub page on Wiki for Gray's Biopsychological theory, there are several ways I can address your critique. 1) I can remove the information on Gray's Biopsychological theory from RST page, use that information to expand the stub page on Gray's Biopsychological page, then link that Wiki page to the RST page so users who are interested still have access to that relevant information. The information presented in this Origins section is neither debated nor from a non-neutral POV. 2) Alternatively, I can leave the Origins section as part of RST article and focus on improving clarity? You mentioned that the Origins section was a "mess" -- would additional definitions of relevant terms, rather than just linking to the relevant term pages on Wiki, help clarify? 3) I cited the hook in both the lead and relevant body paragraph; I am currently adding citations/ relevant work for when you get an opportunity to look at the rest of the article (beyond the Origins section). I appreciate your time and efforts very much! Plroseman (talk) 18:20, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Womens national teams

Sure that I can help. Only that it's difficult found info about some national teams. FIFA does not provide info about Brunei, Cambodia, Kuwait,... Greetings. --Raymond Cruise (talk) 21:39, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

How are you

Are you okay? Back in Oz? Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:27, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Okay, now that's gotta be in violation of WP:USERSPACE or something... if someone took something out of my userspace, put it in main space, and claimed it was their work (by not including the history) I'd have a shit fit. Definitely not what you need to come back to. Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:55, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
  • You're welcome. You know how to know you're a Wikipediholic? When you email a university in Japan asking for first edition book cover scans, because you read somewhere that they have the books.
Mind you, Indonesians are terrible with maintenance and record-keeping, so I don't think I could find them here. Jakarta, at most. Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:34, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

problems with dyk

Ha!

Just as you posted on my talk page, I got an answer from Rob SchnautZ (WMF) on |here, saying "I spoke with Laura Hale over IRC and she was able to clear up what the issue is here. I agree; we can't have en:WP:DYK submission as a requirement in a course without making sure students understand and follow the rules of DYK. This is being addressed."

But there are also problems a GAN, with new editors passing articles without reviews. Maybe there's active online ambassadors somewhere, but I have yet to see one. Somewhere I saw that an article "review" process was being proposed - details unclear. MathewTownsend (talk) 22:15, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Hey Laura. Just wanted to point out, in case you were unaware of it, an example of an education project that was actually successful in its use of assessment processes: WP:MMM. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 00:50, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Your addition of {{COI}} to Dimensional models of personality disorders because "Classwork appears to be creating a COI, with editors primary concern being coursework instead of WP" is absurd. Speedy deletion nomination of Oman women's national football team

A tag has been placed on Oman women's national football team, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DASHBot (talk) 23:26, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
