Ogrish

I don't see that as a legitimate reason for delinking it, unless accepting the over 8 thing leads to the main page instead of the actual video. WhisperToMe 18:49, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

on tetris ds

had good reason to take those images off. those images manifested on the net before even nintendo gave word about the release. earlier in the year, thq started developing a tetris ds, but this project got scrapped. since ign took these images from another source, and that source put out those pictures before even nintendo announced the game, these images may very well have come from the scrapped game, or maybe even made up. 72.150.0.183 23:07, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

(replied)

the game thq made did get cancelled. eb games listed it some time ago, but not anymore. nintendo decided to make another tetris ds, though. see here 72.150.0.183 21:06, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

verified with news source 4colorrebellion.com that nintendo did in fact reveal those images exclusively to the press. feel free to use them. 72.150.0.183 00:34, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Your moving of WikiProject UW

You moved the WikiProject on user warnings this morning, but it seems you didn't check to make sure it went well. I spent the last hour moving pages, updating links, and deleting redirects to fix all the redlinks the move engendered. No doubt you meant well, and the standardised capitalisation is indeed an improvement, but I suggest you pay a little more attention to the results of your actions henceforth. :) // Pathoschild (admin / ) 15:36, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I am the creator of that image. That is a personal photo I took of Michael Jackson during his concert at Ericson Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand. That photo was taken in about November of 1996. I can't remember the exact date. Street walker 11:32, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging for Image:4_Poofs_and_a_Piano.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:4_Poofs_and_a_Piano.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Misplaced Pages (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Misplaced Pages's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as {{db-unksource}}.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

SVGs in Notepad

The SVG file format is available from the official World Wide Web Consortium website. See . I simply wrote the files based on that specification, much as one would write a HTML markup file (or for that matter Wiki-markup) based on those specifications. My experience as a programmer did come in handy here since it's fairly easy for me to learn a new "language". If you're less experienced with coding and markup, I'd recommend trying Inkscape, which is a free program that allows you to draw SVGs much as you would draw images in a paint program like Adobe Photoshop. If you'd like to look at a simple SVG created in Notepad, open up Image:Three Triangles.svg. It is relatively short and simple and might help give you a feel for the markup. Re: Blocking of 61.69.165.181

It's no big deal. I'm a bit curious to see why you blocked the address for 15 minutes, saying it was an AOL address - to my knowledge it wasn't. Oh and also, the shorter block always overrides the longer one, so to extend a block you have to unblock the address first, then reblock, which I have now done :) FireFoxT • 11:36, 26 February 2006

2 Days to Vegas

Huh? I am lost on this one. Do you want to say that I put a speedy tag on it and it got deleted and then re-created? If that's the case I really don't remember. I am not an admin and I cannot check deleted content. But most likely it had something to do about "unreleased" and notability. Trully, don't remember. Now if it is not the case, I really don't know what you mean, sorry. Renata 01:34, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

RFA Thanks

Thank you!
Thank you for your support in my recent RFA. It passed 53/1/2 and I am now an administrator. I appreciate that some of you made exceptions to your usual requirements re length of service and so on because we've interracted positively in the past, or because of my credentials, so I will endeavour to use my new mop cautiously. I'm always open to feedback and gently constructive criticism. If you're not an admin and need some assistance do of course please let me know. Thanks again --kingboyk 00:23, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

pagemove...

See history. I moved the edits at the copy-paste title back to the agreed title to keep the history intact and in one place, then revert back to whichever version (at either title) was most recent. Dealing with copy-paste moves, I do this task quite often. — Mar. 6, '06 <freakofnurxture|talk>

Well, it is a bit confusing in that it's unclear which title each individual edit originally existed at, but in the case copy-paste moves, or duplicate articles (which are essentially created by the former) it shouldn't matter. The other big thing is for the redirect left pointing at the article, if it gets deleted, or maybe converted into a new article which gets moved to yet a third title (hypothetically speaking) the authorship of the original article becomes even harder to track down (GFDL stuff, you know...), basically all I did was move the 5 edits at the "wrong title" on top of the 620 edits at the "right title" causing those to be temporarily deleted. Then I promptly restored the 620 underneath the 5 and they all get integrated in chronological order. Then I look through the history and find the most recent version that (a) doesn't consist of a redirect and (b) doesn't have my name on it, and revert to it. Simple once you get the hang of it... — Mar. 6, '06 <freakofnurxture|talk>

Image deletion

There was no need to notify me of the image deletion, I was going to delete it myself :) Thanks for uploading a new version! Cheers, jacoplane 23:21, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Yes, that would have been easier. No harm done though. Nice emphasis on your name on your userpage btw :P jacoplane 00:10, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

This image: Image:Gamespothq.jpg. You deleated it. Its just a image I got off Gamespot.com showing the headquarters of Gamespot. How do I make it acceptable to Misplaced Pages.

Ulster Project

Hi...You placed a 'clean-up' tab onto a page I recently created called the Ulster Project. As I am new to wikipedia, I thought maybe you could put some information either on my talk page or on the article's talk page so that I can improve the article to a status which would not require the clean-up tab. You wrote "needs some sorting" and I'm afraid I just don't understand. Thanks.--PaddyM 23:11, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Kaz Hirai

I have a question for you, although I have a hunch as to what the answer is. Computerdefinitions uploaded this image into the Kaz Hirai article. It was a good picture, yes, but then OrphanBot deleted it, citing lack of sources. So I did some digging, and discovered that Computerdefinitions had poached it from Sony's website. Users don't have authorization to do that, right? Daniel Davis 17:50, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

My RfA recently closed and it was a success, passing at 84-02-00. I would like to thank you for taking the time to weigh in and your subsequent support. Normally I would extend a hand in regards to any help I could offer, but seeing as your an admin as well, any help from me would probably be minimal. Nonetheless, if something does come up and you would like another opinion, please by all means, grab a Pepsi and stop by my talk page. Thanks again. Pepsidrinka 18:16, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages survey

Hi. I'm doing a survey of Misplaced Pages editors as part of a class research project. It's quick, anonymous, and the data will be made available to the Misplaced Pages community later this month. Would you like to take part? More info here. Thanks! Nonplus 23:52, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Article up for deletion

Ok, well basically, any account that is thought to have been created or used solely for the purposes of voting in an AfD is normally discounted from the final outcome of the AfD, although it's up to the closing admin who they count and who they don't. As for the actual article, it's a tricky one. I don't normally vote in AfD's, but I would think the article in question is borderline between keep and delete. I wouldn't be surprised if the closing admin closed as no concensus (=keep), but we'll have to see. FireFoxT

Image:TV (web site).PNG

I've uploaded a new version of the TV.com screenshot. I thought I'd mention it here since I believe you reverted my edit the previous time. I've uploaded a new version both because they've mildly modified the design, as well as the fact that my screenshot does not depict any specific user. The latter is the reason for my reverted edit. (I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but your original screenshot showed you logged in.) Sean Hayford O'Leary 03:41, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

WWE SmackDown! series template

I was trying to sort out all the entries in order of chronology first with the template and then later just on the articles. I'm not really bother about it too much so if you want to put it back on the template, it's cool with me. --Oakster 11:31, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Mario Kart Double Dash (5).jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Mario Kart Double Dash (5).jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Misplaced Pages (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ReyBrujo 22:27, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey there. The tag was about lacking a source (from where it was downloaded, in example), although it was nice to add the Fair Use Rationale too :-) -- ReyBrujo 17:49, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
