Something for you!

The Epic Barnstar
I award you with this in recognition of many valuable contributions to Balkan, especially Serbian and Albanian, history, and for not fearing to enter some very explosive minefields like Skanderbeg. Keep up the good work! Cheers, Constantine 17:43, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

DYK for Gojko Balšić

Updated DYK queryOn 15 June 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Gojko Balšić, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Gojko Balšić, one of the founders of the League of Lezhë in 1444, was Skanderbeg's nephew? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Gojko Balšić. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

WikiCup 2012 June newsletter

Apologies for the lateness of this letter; our usual bot wasn't working. We are now entering round 4, our semi-finals, and have our final 16. A score of 243 was required to reach this round; significantly more than 2011's 76 points, and only a little behind 2010's 250 points. By comparison, last year, 150 points in round 4 secured a place in the final; in 2010, 430 were needed. Commiserations to Pool A's Minas Gerais igordebraga (submissions), who scored 242 points, missing out on a place in the round by a whisker. However, congratulations to Pool B's Conradh na Gaeilge Grapple X (submissions), whose television articles have brought him another round victory. Pool A's Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) came second overall, with an impressive list of biological did you knows, good articles and featured articles. Third overall was Pool D's New York City Muboshgu (submissions), with a long list of contibutions, mostly relating to baseball. Of course, with the points resetting every round, the playing field has been levelled. The most successful Pool was Pool D, which saw seven into the final round. Pool B saw four, C saw three and Pool A saw only the two round leaders.

A quick note about other competitions taking place on Misplaced Pages which may be of interest. There are 13 days remaining in the June-July GAN backlog elimination drive, but it is not too late to take part. August will also see the return of The Core Contest- a one month long competition first run in 2007. While the WikiCup awards points for audited content on any subject, The Core Contest about is raw article improvement, focussing heavily on the most important articles on Misplaced Pages. As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Resolution

Hi there, is there any chance we can work out our differences here without continuing our disagreement on the Albania page. I would love it if we could work together to improve this encyclopaedia. Regards - Ottomanist (talk) 00:17, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Disruption

This edit of yours is highly disruptive as you deleted sourced content. That being said as you have received ARBMAC warnings regarding Skanderbeg-related topics, it'd be prudent to avoid such edits. Btw if you can't contribute in English just avoid editing as contributions like men left despot's forces after despot's defeat only lower the article's (already low) quality.--— ZjarriRrethues —  14:44, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Will you please be so kind to present the sourced assertion which I deleted?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 05:45, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
There's nothing related to NPA regarding comments about proper prose. You removed the alliance with Venice and I let you know about the article in order to avoid any unnecessary discussion afterwards. Of course feel free to add anything that I may neglect to include.--— ZjarriRrethues —  20:03, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
The source says that "none of these figures actually mobilized to help Venice militarily", i.e. there was no alliance with Venice. Your accusation was unjustified. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 22:45, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Stefan Branković

Go ahead and add them. It is possible since he left Serbia, and married Angelina.--Zoupan 08:40, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

George Strez Balšić

Unresolved

George Castriot, surnamed Scanderbeg, king of Albania, p. 20: "But these domestic intrigues were, for a while, interrupted by the weight and importance of foreign affairs ; for war was declared against George, Lord of Misia, commonly called the Despot of Servia. It is said that Amurath was induced by two ..." Is this true? And where exactly did Misia lie, which towns and forts did it have, it would be great if a map was added.--Zoupan 14:42, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

I should have noted that. But what possessions did the Balšić brothers have?--Zoupan 15:09, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
I agree. No problem, its just copyediting.
  • Schmitt 2005, p. 167: "Die von den Balsici beherrschten Gebiete zwischen Kruja und der Küste"
  • Gopčević 1914, p. 74: "in Misia(1)" - there is a footnote, but I can't see it.
- no idea what it says
Just received your reply, interesting. Is there not even one map of medieval Albania during the League of Lezhe by any scholar?--Zoupan 15:41, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
Kruje-Shkoder region makes the districts of Shkodër, Pukë, Lezhë, Mirditë, Kurbin possible, and Zaharia held Sati and Dagnum, and Spani held mountains behind Drivasto. In the vicinity, there is a "Mise" and "Myselimi" in Postribë. "Mushan" in Dajç. And some more toponyms which might be connected, but nothing can be known without scholarship. Elsie does not explain where Misia is.--Zoupan 16:29, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Revolt of 1432

I've been writing for some time an article on the event, so please don't add yet another article with disconnected sentences etc. on the mainspace, but wait for me to finish and then add whatever it is that you think that I haven't written. --— ZjarriRrethues —  00:12, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Can you please present a link to the draft which you started in your userspace?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 05:55, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
I always work offline and I have written an almost complete article, so please don't add on mainspace your draft, not to mention that there's nothing about it that's not included in what I've already written.--— ZjarriRrethues —  07:32, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
It is obviously impossible to verify your claim about the draft you started since it is in offwiki space. You expect me to AGF in your case which is not easy because:
  1. your request is unnecessary harsh (so please don't add yet another article with disconnected sentences etc.)
  2. this is not the first time you write me comments like this (i.e. diff). It was described as incivility and you were warned not to engage in further ethno-nationalist tendentious editing ...misrepresenting sources .... in incivility or personal attacks.
  3. you yourself started two articles in the mainspace right after I started drafts in my userspace (link).
Will you please be so kind and reply to my above question which hopefully help me to AGF in your case and respect your request.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 08:41, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Battle of Ankara

Would you care to participate in the discussion concerning the removal of Stefan Lazarevic from the template on the Battle of Ankara article? --Kansas Bear (talk) 00:49, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

71.178.108.23 latest additions to the Battle of Ankara would appear to be original research. His sentence, "Also, his role in the battle was differently interpreted: he was commanding right flank or not being seen in commanding role."
  • 14. "History of the Byzantine State", does not mention Stefan Lazarevic, nor does it mention any other commanders under Bayezid and only mentions the battle in passing. This source needs a quote for verification.
  • 15. "The Turkish empire: its growth and decay", by Baron George Shaw-Lefevre Eversley.
1.I am very interested in this Baron George Shaw Levevre Eversley's qualifications.
2.The book does NOT state that Stefan Lazarevic wasn't in command of the left wing. Nor does it state anyone else being in command of the left wing.
3.Copyrighted in 1917, where methodology and historiography come into question.
Odd how The Cambridge Medieval History volumes 1-5, By J.B. Bury, , states Stephen of Serbia was in command of his own troops and formed the left wing. --Kansas Bear (talk) 02:54, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2012 July newsletter

We're approaching the beginning of 2012's final round. Pool A sees Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) as the leader, with 300 points being awarded for the featured article Bivalvia, and Pool B sees Conradh na Gaeilge Grapple X (submissions) in the lead, with 10 good articles, and over 35 articles eligible for good topic points. Pool A sees New York City Muboshgu (submissions) in second place with a number of articles relating to baseball, while Pool B's Minnesota Ruby2010 (submissions) follows Grapple X, with a variety of contributions including the high-scoring, high-importance featured article on the 2010 film Pride & Prejudice. Ruby2010, like Grapple X, also claimed a number of good topic points; despite this, not a single point has been claimed for featured topics in the contest so far. The same is true for featured portals.

Currently, the eighth-place competitor (and so the lowest scorer who would reach the final round right now) has scored 332, more than double the 150 needed to reach the final round last year. In 2010, however, 430 was the lowest qualifying score. In this competition, we have generally seen scores closer to those in 2010 than those in 2011. Let's see what kind of benchmark we can set for future competitions! Good luck! I wanted to thank you for being one of the few users being patient enough to descuss with me about Religion in Albania for 4 days (unlike with unhelpful users at Religion in Turkey; you could help with that). August 2012

Your recent editing history at Religion in Albania shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Fut.Perf. 19:31, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
