User:Yummy Dunn
I've given this editor my opinion and a warning, which was removed. Should the disruption continue then I'd suggest a level 3 or 4 warning as appropriate followed by a report at ANI. Mjroots (talk) 18:39, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks - he's been problematic in more than one area (a particularly distasteful refusal to accept the existence of e.g "Black British" as an ethnicity regardless of what sources say is perhaps most notable). DuncanHill (talk) 18:43, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Grand Slam AF

Most sources say Victor Spinetti's year of birth is 1933. Grand Slam AF (talk) 19:03, 3 November 2012 (UTC) |
Unfortunately...
There was nothing improper about the page protection in this specific case. Now that discussion is merely detracting from the real problem: the improper re-sysopping. (✉→BWilkins←✎) 13:54, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- Well, at least one other admin disagrees with you (see Polarscribe's talk page). Anyway, it was a lousy re-sysop, a very clear case of someone leaving to avoid scrutiny and then claiming that because the scrutiny didn't happen they are as pure as the driven snow - and given the recent tendency for crats to race each other to "restore the bit first" it's not surprising that Nihonjoe missed the ANI thread. As you know, most admins react with dread to the possibility that another admin will lose his tools, so I doubt there's any possibility of it being undone. DuncanHill (talk) 14:01, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- You already know that I agree with the part about a lousy re-sysop :-) (✉→BWilkins←✎) 15:28, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Errant posts
- I think it is clear to any sensible reader of WP:INVOLVED that polarscribe was so - now I agree he could have reached out more to the editor in question. But you can level that criticism at a very large number of people here. Your suggestion for what he should have done is not a sensible one, because as you should be able to see from the history the editor was very active for that short space of time - protecting the page was exactly the right way to end the problem. However, what I do see, and am warning you about, is that you are being obnoxious and rude in that entire thread. Put down the pitchfork; if you have genuine concerns about this resysop then state your case, and quit the slanging match. --Errant 14:10, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- I do not accept your warning - you clearly have not read the whole thread. I have very clearly stated my concerns about the resysop, as have other editors. I hope you will now warn the admin who has posted on Polarscribe's page telling him he got it wrong. DuncanHill (talk) 14:15, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- Warn him about what? I don't go around warning people for saying things wrong, or that I disagree with. But I have read the thread (and your assertion I have not is a symptom of you incivility here) and a significant part of it consists of you hounding polarscribe and being obnoxious. So accept my warning or don't, but stop being rude to people. --Errant 14:18, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hang on - you tell me here that my suggestion was unworkable, and then go and tell Polarscribe that he should have done more or less what I suggested, i.e. reach out more? I have not been hounding Polarscribe, and I have not been being obnoxious. It is a personal attac, - and obnoxious - of you to pretend otherwise. Please do not post here again, unless it is to apologise. DuncanHill (talk) 14:25, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 9
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Caerhays Castle, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Arundell (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Semi-Retired eh?
For someone who classes themselves as 'semi-retired', you seem to spend a lot of time sniffing around me and my talk page? Maybe you should consider revising your heading Yummy Dunn (talk) 21:15, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
- I edit considerably less than I used to. I grew up in St Austell, and the article has been on my watchlist for a long time, so it is not surprising that I should notice what is happening to it.
- If our local councillors took as much care in the town as you do, St Austell would be in a lot better state than it is now Yummy Dunn (talk) 22:58, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
