LTA page for A.K.Nole/Echigo mole
ErrantX: the examples of mathematical trolling started with A.K.Nole (the first account) on Butcher group and minimal subtraction scheme. Ex-arbitrators, including Charles Matthews, YellowMonkey and Paul August, agreed with me that the contributions were superfical and amounted to trolling. That was just the start and that kind of incompetent trolling on articles has continued. The example from June 2012 with uniformly bounded representation is described on the RfAr page. As Denis Brown has said, it is hard for an administrator without mathematical training to determine when trolling is taking place in articles like this. In the two articles mentioned above, A.K.Nole copy-pasted content from the first unduly into the second. I think the correct place to discuss the issues concerning A.K.Nole/Echigo mole is when I have sufficiently recovered to prepare a preliminary LTA page. In fact I have hardly reverted any edits by Echigo mole recently. Spar-stangled was an obvious sock, acting as a smart-alec. It took a day or two for his trolling here to be removed and his account indef blocked. In the amendment prior to the review, 4 named sockpuppets interrupted the RfAm. Then there were the edits to Reginald of Durham (connected with articles on early saints) and the trolling on User talk:Malleus Fatuorum. There is no simple pattern here. Only when users can look at an LTA page can any reasonable discussion take place. Certainly sanctioning me is no way of solving the problem. As I have said, in the past often socks or ipsocks were blocked by just tipping off a checkuser discreetly. With the complications created by the DeviantArt editors taking advantage of Echigo mole's trolling, the banned user was given more air time than was his due. I prefer reports to be made behind the scenes so as not to feed the troll. None of this can be solved here. The use of tor nodes & open proxies was his latest little game. What is slightly clearer is that Mikemikev is in Korea teaching English. He's done teaching in the Far East before, so he's no longer editing from IPs like this one at UCL (or at ICL). No arbcom sanctions can solve the problem of Echigo mole and it is misguided to suggest otherwise. Cheers, Mathsci (from UCLH) 195.194.4.65 (talk) 17:08, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

- Mathsci; to an extent, your reply here (21:13, 5 November) is symptomatic of the problem. With such an edit you are feeding his obsession. I'm not advocating punishing you; however not being able to let go of this individual will simply mean he carries on. I don't know how I can put this to you much more strongly: the trolling is in part caused by your continued participation. I don't blame you for the trolling, but I do think you deserve criticism for being unable to step away from it. If sanctioning you is the only way to stop you reacting as you have done above then I'd say it is justified, if nothing else for your health/sanity! As a harassment victim I appreciate how hard it can be to take this step, hence why I advocate the community is proactive in making it for you :) I agree a LTA page would be very appropriate. I also think you should have a list of users you trust to email when you see an edit that needs reverting. And if current editors facilitate the harassment (unwittingly or otherwise) then ignore it, and again ask Arbcom or admins by email for support. If you fail to rise to the trolling, and the edits are removed without comment by various other individuals, then it will quickly become boring. If I was in an expert consultation, this is the advice I would give. Maintaining silence can be hard, but every time you start to react and end up with escalation then it is feeding the troll. --Errant 13:22, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

Operation Bertram
Hi ErrantX, I've brought Bertram up to DYK, and yes I have writer's cramp. I've drawn a map of the whole thing, which may make the situation a little clearer. I know you're in waist-deep getting Dudley Clarke up to FA, but as they say, when you need help, ask a busy person... Could you take a look at Bertram and give me a heads-up? many thanks Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:11, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
- Ace work! I've have a proper gander later on :) I suggested the DYK be held till Nov 11th as it would be highly topical! --Errant 14:19, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
