Pronunciation and IIT
Hi,
I have done the Sardar Patel's Audio and as usual request to check for clarity and consistancy. Anyway, I will try to add the coin's photograph/scan image as soon as possible although it still seems unlikely before 9th. I am waiting for Nichalp's suggestions before moving IIT to FAC. Let's first be sure that its upto the expectations of all of us here before taking the final plunge. I am also working on IIT related articles and am trying to improve them so that they are atleast stable and consistant. Just recently I have created History of IITs article to summarize the content of "Establishment of IITs". Regarding the suggestions you gave in the Peer Review, I feel that only the information of year of establishment is repeating, which I feel is relevant to both from history's perspective as well as important from individual IIT's coverage perspective. If you think that it can be eliminated from one of the places (more likely being the "IIT Family" section), we can discuss it. Even though individual IITs have a few notable distinguishing features, they have been separately discussed in other sections. Most of the distinguishing features are culture related as with respect to academics, they have been treated eually by the govt. For example I have discussed the cultural and technical festivals of each IIT in "Extra-curricular life" section. Its useless to discuss things like student capacity in this article as it already very long. Making each IIT having a sub-section will draw criticsms from others as they all would be single paragraph sub-sections. BTW, can you suggest better titles for "Success story" and "Extra-curricular life" sections. They look inapporpriate names for sections. If you have any more suggestions I will be happy to address them. And yes, IIT is not my great work. Its the work of the thousands of alumnus while I am just doing a reporting part. I am waiting to see another FA contribution (Sardar Patel) from you. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 04:45, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks and comment
Thanks Nirav, oh btw I haven't forgotten Patel. I will get to it in an hour or so. AreJay 00:21, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
Re:Questions on adminship
Yes, Nirav, sou were back on 8th April 2006, when I was confined to bed. I used to think of wikipedia and several wikipedians including you during my forced separation of 3 weeks from wikipedia arising on account of my sickness. Now, I am almost recouped. In the meanwhile, we had talked; still I extend you a formal welcome on your return on 8th April 2006.
Now let us talk business, that is, about the project. You had asked my opinion about your impulsive behavior (?) and your suitability for wiki-adminship. I can tell from my long experience in life that each one of us some short of shortcomings – no one is perfect: in real or in virtual life. Having said this, I would like to point out that I found you, in the ultimate analysis, a nice person and your contributions to the Project is really massive, and you have done very well. I think that most of Indian wikipedians, including me and you, have just made the beginning – the true potential is yet to emerge. I am of the firm conviction that you shall make a good administrator. Please harbor no negative thought in this regard. When the time shall come, you will have to accept the challenge. I have repeatedly stressed the point that the project requires more administrators from India/ this part of the word, so that contents relating to Asia may get true encyclopedic reflection in wikipedia. --Bhadani 14:45, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks!
Thanks for the Barnstar. Thanks also for your help in my efforts to make Chola dynasty to FA quality. I think I'm nearly there.
cheers,
Parthi (Venu62) 05:11, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for the barnster, and sorry for replying late. Due to personal reasons, I will not be active on Misplaced Pages for some time. :-) --Andy123(talk) 18:08, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
IIM
Hi! Hey, IMO, it's not yet time for IIM. It needs summarisation, changing srntences etc, if not a major rewrite. Sorry that I do not have the time now for devoting to IIM. Let's keep the peer review open for a few mor days, as the suggestions in peer review have not been met yet. Bye.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:10, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay. I'll reply tonight. Can't access gmail from work. Tintin (talk) 05:13, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Portal:India/Selected article removal candidates
Hi! The template for Portal:India/Selected article removal candidates was not made, and I tried to make it. However, the result Template:Pisarc is not ok. It is not functioning perfectly as can be seen in the talk pages where this has been put, for example, Talk:Raja Ravi Varma and Talk:Cheese. See that the template shows the name of the article once again at the end! I have already contacted Nichalp (talk · contribs) in this regard. You can also help to resolve this technical matter.
Many articles in Portal:India/Selected articles deserve to be delisted as they are either not india related or do not meet the criteria. It seems from the list as if many articles were NOT chosen by going through the prescribed procedure, rather chosen somewhat indiscriminately. Please see. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 10:58, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi, hope you feel fresh and ready for FAC after your wikibreak ends — I myself am also getting very busy in real life. I just confirmed the email address I previously had listed, so now it should be set to receive all the wonderful dispatches. I'll also try to finish up copyediting Patel tomorrow. Thanks. Saravask 18:25, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hey, you violated your wikibreak! But thanks for nominating me. When the time comes, it'll be my pleasure to nominate you — so beware! Saravask 02:56, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Darjeeling
Hi! Could you please have a quick look of Darjeeling? Please give your suggestions in the article's talk page. This is for an internal review before moving to peer review. Thanks. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:00, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, this time also I would like a Kolkata-like FAC for Darjeeling. On Kolkata FAC, Nichalp commented about the high standards of Indian FACs that we have an internal review, then peer eview and then the FAC becomes a mere formality. This time, I am doing that! A sorta internal review. Peer review will follow, when I expect inputs from Indian administrators as well as international audience. Then the formality. Moreover, imo, rather than a single contributor, a community approach is healthy for articles, as we have a good community. You also tend to follow the same thing. In community approach, more number of articles can be created rapidly as the burden on one contributor eases, and also, several users see the article from multiple angles. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 06:31, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Patel
Hey, just wanted to let you know that I've been a little busy with work, but I'll get to moving forward on my suggestions sometime over the weekend. Thanks AreJay 22:28, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

I've made some changes per your recommendations. Please check them out. shreshth91 (talk · contribs) (not signed in)
Hi
Can you take a look at Ahmedabad when you are free? I think it is nearly time for PR and FAC. I know you must be busy with Patel. When is it's FAC coming? The lead image in the Patel article has a pd-india tag. Are you sure about that? As far as I know images from Government of India sites are not Public Domain. You can ask Nichalp to double-check. - Aksi_great (talk) 10:43, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah that's true. Govt. sites (.nic domain) are not in public domain, as Nichalp had confirmed once, on the basis of Sundar's lawyer friends.--May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| ŗ 3 $ |-| ţ |-|) 14:57, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the template. I see some red-links that already have an article. Will link them later. I am starting a peer review later today (earlier that I had planned, but I think it would be very helpful to me). Will inform you as soon as I do it. - Aksi_great (talk) 14:37, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Remember to subst!
When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.Mr. Lefty Talk to me! 19:28, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Thankyou for your kind introduction to Misplaced Pages. I am hoping to expand my writing skills by contributing to a few sections. Do you know if there are any chief editors for the following sections?
- Wong-Kar Wai
- Blaxploitation
- Lost
- Digitiser
- Preston, Lancashire
I wouldn't want to tread on any toes as it were. Thankyou :) - Charlie Marrow 20:17, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for all of your help so far. I was wondering if you could give me the template needed so I can place the userboxes I want in a seperate section formatted to the far right of the screen. Thankyou. - Charlie Marrow 20:30, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, I couldn't see that info on that page you linked me to. Is that the right one? - Charlie Marrow 20:55, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Problem
Yeah, I noticed the article Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties of India and its SAC a few days back. I will add more once I read the whole article, and the arguments. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:10, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
Need help with Inter-Services Intelligence page
I have been working on the ISI page for a while now. I added a lot of citations from various different sources and even from very anti-pakistan sources. I expanded the missions while also expanding the controversies surrounding the ISI and their role in Pakistan's internal affairs, Kashmir, war on terrorism, etc...
I have it up for peer review, but I haven't received much feed back. I was wondering if you could take a look at the article and point some flaws that exist in the article which I can correct before I post it for FAC status.
Thanks

My comment on Gurubrahma's page
Gurubrahma has said that he won't be editing actively from now on and it's "about time" (looks like a familiar phase) this happenned. I was sad about this and left the message that you saw. -- Sundar 08:15, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oops, sorry for the confusion caused. "About time" refers to the fact that I had already announced my inactivity/wikibreak on my user/talk pages almost a month back but waited for a month to see if I'll be still active. It doesn't appear that I'll find enough time before 2007, so my editcount(iti)s may be limited to 100-200 per month. Hence, I felt it was "about time" to move myself to inactive members. I'd still try to be active as time permits, showing up on WP:PINQ at least on a regular basis. I'd still be logging in at least thrice a week, so the best way to contact me still remains my talkpage. E-mail is ok, but it'd be better to post a msg on my talkpage notifying abt the e-mail. Do let me know when you plan to get on to RfA, if you need any help in crafting the RfA nom. --Gurubrahma 17:11, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Help with template
Hi Nirav,
I want your help with {{Indian Institute Of Technology}} template. No technical help, but asthetic one. I find that the template doesn't look good in its present form. Can you please help me and change it to something visually pleasing. If you want, you may change the text also. Apart from the topics already covered, I also want Reservation policy in IITs to be also included. I would have done it myself but my sense of asthetics is horribly poor and I can't think of what will look nice. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 05:08, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Its a nice idea but just one problem may arise. While the topics related to IIT (like history and reservation) have been discussed in great detail, those belonging to NIT, IIM, AIIMS, etc. haven't been and their entries will mostly be restricted to the institutes. Also a question will arise as to which all are to be included, or in other words, what is the criteria for an institute/set of institutes to be included in the template. If you are convinced that there won't be any issues, go ahead. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 05:32, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- A lot better now. Just a few questions. Is it okay to link to categories from the template. Secondly, I couldn't get why some links are italized while others are not. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 06:39, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- More issues. I think that "IIT Schools of Management" need to be moved to the second paragraph as first paragraph should be about IIT family. Secondly, culture should not be included now as it is only related IIT Kharagpur's culture. I will try and create a common one for all IITs. Too bad I can't use things from Student Linguistics in IIT Kharagpur. Also according to your logic, PAF and Illumination should also be italized. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 06:45, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- The History of IITs redirect to the full name. I have fixed that for reservation policy also. If any other IIT have article on them, the redirect page can be edited to reflect the disambiguation. However, since I have used "IITs" everywhere as opposed to "IIT", this is not likely to happen. The only problem is with Category:IIT. Should we rename it? I will definitely create the culture article before FAC. It will even help reduce the enormous size of the culture section as it exists now. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 06:57, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
stop vandalising the Jinnah page.
Warning
Even though it is a sensitive topic for your country, let me assure you that ALL Pakistanis revere Jinnah as a hero...that's a FACT and you are in violation of the rules if you resist that in any way.

Adminship
Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I can't consider it now as I am still relatively new and can't consider it in June as I will again be going on wikibreak (going home where internet costs per minute and not free like here). I can consider it only by the end of july or early august when I will be back. BTW, have you thought about your adminship. I haven't seen the early Nirav Maurya but I am convinced that you are a late bloomer and an asset to wikipedia. Though the people voting for RfA have elephant's memory, I feel that you have changed a lot since then with even your opponents then giving praise on your review. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 07:17, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
problem user on Jinnah page
You said on my talkj page: Hi Bhadaniji - could you please tackle User:66.25.124.253. He just spoke in a threatening manner to me on my talkpage here and here, and is adding nonsense to the Jinnah article. He has been warned multiple times on vandalism, yet he persists in adding nonsense and cleans out his own talkpage. I feel this fellow will return to create trouble in the future. Rama's Arrow
My response: Dear, Nirav, we all should forget things. These are part of our wiki-life, when some persons with little knowledge (a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and an empty vessel sounds much) try to do edit here, he thinks that he is contributing to the building of the sum total of human knowledge, whereas in reality he may be just playing with wikipedia and passing through a self-befooling process. Please do not think of the misdeeds of such editors, and please continue to contribute with a positive and optimistic frame of mind. Thanks, regards, and all the best. --Bhadani 14:16, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Recent changes to IIT
With reservation under Admission section, the section had a single sub-section; something that has been opposed in the talk page. For this I have created another subsection about JEE under it. It also solved the problem of details appearing in the article (like info of GATE) that doesn't appear in the JEE article. As regard to the other suggestion, I will try to work it out tomorrow. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 19:16, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi,
- You seem to have left editing in the middle. I went ahead and completed the editing of Admissions section. Have a look and tell me if its fine now. I also saw that you moved the image up and placed it besides the Table of Contents. It existed there some time back till Nichalp moved it to IIT Family section. Even I prefer it besides the TOC but didn't revert his edits. Now that you also have placed it there, let's see if its still objected to. I hope you have noticed that I have created the culture article. I didn't knew in order to make a Featured Article "Itne papad belne padte hain" to make the ambience right. Hope with your help the article goes faster towards FAC. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 05:45, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- What is the most widely accepted way of citing books? I believe its the Harvard Style, but just want to be sure. I don't want this issue to be raised after the FAC is started. I require it for "Equality through Reservations" which is refered in "Reservations" section. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 09:26, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Your vote on my RFA
Thank you for voting on my RFA, however I've decided to withdraw my nomination. I'll perhaps nominate myself in the future once I have more experience, and not to immaturely release RFAs. Until then, I'll continue working on Misplaced Pages. —THIS IS MESSEDOCKER (TALK) 21:00, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Sir even though it is very awkward im replying to your message as it would have been rude not to do so, i have explained all the reason in the last post. I would love to come back to wikipedia some day maybe months from now, but would like the matter to cool down and will start with a clean page that is why i had to tear away the blotched one. I hope you will understand , as you said this is just an encyclopedia so i think it is no big deal. Anmol
