The comments aimed at Viriditas (talk · contribs) weren't that bad, but the criticism coming at the hook is rude for someone's work (in this case, mine). It was clearly a good faith nomination, and I was trying to improve this site and to say bad things like "was not only the most boring DYK that I've ever seen". You should have a least had the proper mind to leave me know you are remove my own hook from the main page, and your reasons why. P.S. Imagine my surprise when I read that Viriditas "discover" I was an admin and 'crat and found it "absolutely incredible". Happy to discuss where I abused those positions when declaring an opinion on a DYK hook and where I removed an erroneous DYK from the main page, but suggest the discussion is conducted centrally so everyone can have their say, not just here on my parochial little talk page. By the way, there is something seriously fucked up here if you think me suggesting a DYK hook to be boring is somehow worse than yelling "For fuck's sake STOP" in an edit summary. To think, an editor with over 100k edits and such experience would react to an edit by User:Mercurywoodrose to add a "low" parameter to a talk page in such a way is very disappointing indeed. Possible featured list nomination

Hi again Rambling Man! I am currently developing a "List of aviation services in the Okanagan" list for airports, heliports, etc., in the Okanagan region of Canada; however, I am not sure it would meet 3b for comprehensiveness, I was thinking that I could expand into a "List of aviation services in the British Columbia Interior" or something. Hi, if you remember, I opposed your RfB and we had what I thought was a productive discussion about it. While I still think there's plenty of 'crats for me to disagree with, it seems clear that you are not one of them, and I wanted to drop by to say that. I thought that your recent questions to those requesting the restore of rights were very well formulated and I too would very much like to know what prompts such users to requests their tools back after such lengthy period of inactivity, without at the very least returning as normal editors for a little bit before doing so. William Hill Sports Book of the Year

I've put a lot of work into creating and maintaining the article over the course of many years. It's not perfect, I don't own it, and I don't mind changes but if you are going to do major changes we might have some disagreements, as we already do. You could make the process easier by communicating on the talk page and/or creating a draft in temporary space. If you're going to force things with no talk page communication, I would have no option but to open a conflict resolution and bring in outside editors. Given my investment of time on this article already, I would have no problem working with you for the weeks and months required to get the article into good shape. -- Green Cardamom (talk) 20:47, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

While I don't own the page, I certainly created it and brought it up to spec some years before you even registered an account, so don't bother trying that one on me. The use of the caption in a table is not for use to use BIG text or colourful backgrounds or anything equally naff, it's for screenreaders. Wickets

In the discussion on W-L etc.You say that the cricket game article has links that clarify it. I clicked on those links (even though clicking on links is precarious here in Mongolia, since it can cause a crash), and got nowhere. The definition of wicket seems to only talk about the objects (I already knew that), and the next link produced the single letter F. The averages link did make sense for an outsider. Question about your BN question

Hey Rambling Man,

I fully appreciate the sentiment behind your questions at WP:BN, but I'm trying to see it through the eyes of someone who has been away for years, is returning, and may be expecting a warm welcome. Your question, while valid, may come across as challenging, as opposed to the honest question it is. I posted a comment to User_talk:Ligulem#BN along these lines. I wonder if there is a better way to approach this, maybe a bit of background along with the question on the talk page, rather than the more public BN page?

It's been made clear to me that while trying to reassure these candidates that they will still most likely be procedurally resysoped, my questions have been perhaps taken as some kind of official line of enquiry rather than just trying to understand why an admin flag is so important to someone who hasn't edited for four/five etc years. I wouldn't worry about it. That means that other wiki titles are being changed for this article and, unless you can argue the case in German or Arabic etc, I would just let it go. There's nothing that can be done to the article here unless a successful RM is conducted. Those who can write, write; those who can't write,pretend to tell others how to write.

Allow me to offer some advice I gave someone else recently: . The (sub-faculty) staff teaching freshmen "Expository Writing" at Harvard has improved greatly since I was there, but in my time these were largely frustrated would-be Hemingways. I always felt bad for my instructor -- pretending to teach writing to a bunch of kids, most of whom were already better writers than he was, and all of whom were way smarter than he was, must have been a tough pretense to maintain day after day. Something like that applies here as well.

I think an RfC might be in order here. Perhaps after a rest you and I and the 3 or 4 not-crazy participants might talk about how to do that. In the meantime, if you'd like a taste of my style, take a look at Phineas Gage (which, to my surprise, has almost no links from inside quotes) and John Harvard statue (see esp the passage found by searching for device -- and by the way this article is nowhere near done and has at the moment a certain amount of what might appear to be OR, but really isn't).
