ALMOST RETIRED
This user will only be around occasionally.
I will be mostly inactive for the time being since I found that the joy of editing Misplaced Pages that was present when I started is gone and I just don't enjoy it anymore. I plan to log in occasionally and check my talkpage for messages, so I will be present for conversation and if you want help with something I am willing to assist you. Don't hesitate to ask but don't be surprised if you don't receive a timely reply.

Goodbye
I am sorry to see you have gone, although I can empathize somewhat with how you feel. I would like to thank you again for your help in starting this project. Best wishes, AutomaticStrikeout (T • C) 19:05, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
- You are most welcome. It was a pleasure for me to help with TAFI. I hope that you and the other members can keep that project afloat, Misplaced Pages definitely needs it as there are many articles that have the potential to become better than they currently are. Thanks for your good wishes. All the best. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 20:52, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Thank you...
Thank you for the offer of assistance. I will definitely take you up on it, but first...
...I am very glad that you have decided not to leave Misplaced Pages, and look forward to the day you consider yourself a complete editor once again. (Though I believe no editor is incomplete, just as it is impossible to have half a hole.)
In the meantime, the outline I need help on is Outline of natural language processing.
It is still under construction, and needs topics gathered to it and annotated.
The outline hints at the day when computers will be able to understand everything we write or say, when they will be able to communicate with us and each other in our languages. It is interesting to see the components this effort is broken down into.
A most fascinating outline indeed. I look forward to your collaboration. The Transhumanist 01:55, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
Topic mining
In order to gather relevant topics, I've found it useful to browse the webpages on the subject, rather than just Misplaced Pages articles. Misplaced Pages's articles on natural language processing are far from complete, and many of its topics are orphaned (not linked into its main subject articles).
There are many branches (of the outline) to be discovered. The Transhumanist 04:06, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
Working out the details at Misplaced Pages:Today's article for improvement
The RFC for TAFI is nearing it's conclusion, and it's time to hammer out the details over at the project's talk page. There are several details of the project that would do well with wider input and participation, such as the article nomination and selection process, the amount and type of articles displayed, the implementation on the main page and other things. I would like to invite you to comment there if you continue to be interested in TAFI's development. --NickPenguin(contribs) 02:42, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Nomination for deletion of Template:Google Maps link
Template:Google Maps link has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page. WOSlinker (talk) 15:22, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
List of hospitals in the Federated States of Micronesia
The tag is the least bad tag I could find. Basically, the article consists of a list and all of the items are Red links. I know it is a non trivial task to correct, if and when you write the articles then the tag can be removed. If you are aware of a better tag then by all means substitute that tag. Regards Op47 (talk) 19:44, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I am not currently aware of a better tag. Yes, the main entries of the list are all redlinks, however
- I regard a redlink as a link to another article
- this is not directly an issue with this article, but with the articles this one links to (which do not exist (yet))
- I will look whether I can find another tag to use. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 19:58, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
MfD nomination of Help:Downloading article as PDF
Help:Downloading article as PDF, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Misplaced Pages:Miscellany for deletion/Help:Downloading article as PDF and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Help:Downloading article as PDF during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Checklinks
Hello Toshio,
I noticed you have been fixing links in the Singapore Exchange article. There is a handy tool for this sort of thing, see: w:WP:CHECKLINKS. I took the liberty of running this on the article, and repaired dead links from archived copies.
~E:74.60.29.141 (talk) 18:17, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
- That's good, thanks. Unfortunately there seem to be a number of links where no archived version exists or where I have been unable to locate a working cached version. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 20:12, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages:Village pump (proposals)
That thread is closed. I closed it because it is heading straight toward personal attack argumentland, and clearly there is a consensus against that proposal. Everyone has explained their position, and no one is going to be changing their minds. Don't reopen it. Prodego 00:27, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- Rd232 made a new subsection to get more opinions and asked for other ideas. Even though I opposed the original proposal, I don't see the need to shut down that discussion. Let it die out naturally. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 00:33, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- It doesn't really matter how good an idea it is though, it will not happen for social reasons, for legal reasons, for technical reasons, and for administrative reasons. That is a lot of reasons. On the other hand, comments are getting attacky, so it is time to put down the stick and step away. Prodego 00:43, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- I don't see the comments getting attacky, but the original proposal doesn't appear to have a chance to be accepted. However, I think it is legitimate to try to get further opinions on the proposal, as Rd232 did in the new subsection. It's closed now, so I'll let it rest in peace. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 00:57, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

ST:VOY episode images
Toshio, I'd like to merge the 14 18 ST:VOY images you posted for discussion on WP:NFCR into a single section, bulletizing the 14 18. All 14 18 have the same proposed rationale for removing them. I think it would be appropriate to have a single discussion on the appropriateness of episodic images. There are differing viewpoints, and having the discussion split out over 14 images servers everyone poorly I think. This isn't to say I agree or disagree with you. --Hammersoft (talk) 14:35, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Well, the common practice seem to be to use one header per file or one per article if it concerns one article having multiple non-free images. This seems to fall into the first case, that's why I started one section per file just as is done usually. I agree though that it might be worth merging them. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 14:39, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Ok. I merged. Feel free to undo/adjust/whatever as you see fit. Misplaced Pages:Non-free_content_review#Star_Trek:_Voyager_episode_images. --Hammersoft (talk) 14:46, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Well obviously you were faster than me, as I tried to do the same. :) -- Toshio Yamaguchi 14:58, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- I am mightier than thou! Bow before my almighty fingers! ;) --Hammersoft (talk) 15:07, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- I need to train my fingers, need to advance to orange, as I am still at yellow (and get a faster internet connection). -- Toshio Yamaguchi 15:21, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Voyager images
you may want to group those together under a single topic at NFCR - I've got a comment on this that relates to something I already approached the TV project about regarding such images but can be addressed as a group. --MASEM (t) 14:35, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Please see reply above. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 14:40, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Grutness on your user page
I'm not sure what the purpose of the table is on your user page, but Grutness is still editing (or perhaps "editing again"). If it's there to document reasons for decline, or something else that Grutness's editing doesn't prima facie contradict, please just remove this comment. Cheers, Storkk (talk) 01:33, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
- I removed Grutness from the table. Thanks for pointing this out. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 06:19, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
Average
Let me word it differently. If the largest religion has 2 billion adherents, and the smallest religion has 20 adherents, how many adherents does a medium-sized religion have? Pass a Method talk 21:14, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- That depends on whether by billion you mean a billion in short scale or long scale. If it is the former, then you have , if it is the latter, then you have . -- Toshio Yamaguchi 21:21, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
