Ending Quote
"Even with eyes wide open, my world is one of darkness."
But I just saw: "Even with eyes wide open, you can't see everything." in English translation? Regards, 122.148.41.172 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 14:00, 6 July 2010 (UTC).
- It seems to vary slightly (my R2 version says "Even with my eyes wide open, I can't see a thing."). Geoff B (talk) 14:34, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
I watched this film on Australian SBS TV 2 nights ago. The final subtitle as Zatoichi tripped over the stone was "No matter how wide you open your eyes, you cannot see what you cannot see", which I think is a profound philosophical statement...Bill Burrell58.96.37.244 (talk) 08:14, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
The original Japanese (いくら目ん玉ひんむいても) has baffled Japanese bloggers. (e.g. http://kid-blog.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/2007/06/post_4d07.html). But they seem to think it means "even the winner does not overcome". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.183.10.65 (talk) 15:42, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
Requested move
- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: No consensus. The nominator and at least one other participant were sockpuppets of a permanently blocked editor; the discussion is too affected by sockpuppetry to determine a consensus. Cúchullain /c 17:59, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
Zatōichi (2003 film) → Zatoichi (2003 film) – This film was released under the name "Zatoichi" rather than "Zatōichi". See, for example, the following film posters (links to images): , , . On Google books, "zatoichi" kitano has 1660 hits, but "zatōichi" kitano has eight hits, a ratio of two hundred to one. By WP:ENGLISH, this should be under "Zatoichi". - Support film released in the English market, so therefore has an English name. WP:UE -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 05:22, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Support the English name of the film. Rreagan007 (talk) 19:50, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose The film is part of a long-running series of films, at least one of which does not appear to have been released outside Japan. For the sake of internal consistency, we should use one spelling of the character's name for all the films, but it would be OR for us to apply a non-standard romanization to a film that has not been released outside Japan. Also, using the macron is more accurate, and no one would see this page and think "What is Zatōichi (2003 film)?? I wanted Zatoichi (2003 film)!!" - We're talking about this film, not some other film. WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS; we're not discussing renaming the entire film franchise, or the film that wasn't released in English, we're discussing the name of this film. -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 07:11, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
- Use English, elvenscout742. It's not funny at all. 125.172.75.186 (talk) 16:22, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
- Support - as per WP:NCF#Foreign-language films. The official website of the film says a Film by Takeshi Kitano "ZATOICHI". Additionally, the DVD of the film was released as Zatoichi by Artificial Eye in the UK and Ireland. 125.172.75.186 (talk) 16:22, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
