Acting career
Early work: 2010–2012
Kapoor made her acting debut in 2010 with the film Teen Patti alongside Amitabh Bachchan, R. Madhavan, and Raima Sen. The film tanked at the box office, and her performance went partially unnoticed. For her role as college rockstar Aparna, she had workshops with Royston Abel, Ashley Lobo and Barry John. Shraddha described her character as "a studious girl and is also a guitarist in her college’s music band" and "a very intriguing person."
In 2011, she signed a three-movie contract with Yash Raj Films. However, the contract was soon to be cancelled due to Kapoor decision to transition elsewhere and sign her next film with Mahesh Bhatt's for Aashiqui 2. She starred in Y-Films's venture, Luv Ka The End alongside newcomer Taaha Shah. Of her role and this film, Kapoor stated: "I play a character name Rhea Dialdas who is very feminine, quirky, all in all a typical teenage girl but one with a vindictive dark side when she found out what her boyfriend been really up to. Rhea truly gives meaning to that saying ‘hell hath no fury like a woman scorned'. It's a passtime chick-flick, So I feel in someways most of the burden to carry this film forward lies a lot on me but I just hope I make it worth it to watch." Despite the film's poor performance at the box office, Kapoor's performance attracted generally positive reviews. Rachana of Glamsham Editorial wrote, "Shraddha Kapoor clearly steals the show and it's her performance which lights up the film. She is the star of the film." Kapoor was also awarded Stardust Searchlight Award For Best Actress for the film.
Breakthrough: 2013–Present
In 2013, Kapoor starred in Aashiqui 2, a romantic musical drama film opposite Aditya Roy Kapur. Her character in the film, Arohi Shirke, is a small-town bar singer who later becomes a successful playback artiste. The film received a positive to mixed critical reception. However, reviewers were mostly positive about Kapoor's performance.
Anupama Chopra calls her the "real triumph" and said that she is "very good as the woman in the throes of a grand passion who believes that love will show the way" The Times Of India's Madhureeta Mukherjee adds, saying that Kapoor lets "her emotions play out brilliantly in high-strung scenes with supreme confidence". Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama stated, ' Shraddha also gets to sink her teeth into this challenging character and the attractive youngster is simply amazing, more so towards the demanding moments in the second hour. Furthermore, the chemistry between Aditya and Shraddha is incredible, which also proves yet again that the right casting can work wonders.' The film went on to became a major box-office success attaining a blockbuster status by grossing more than ₹100 crore.
Kapoor will next appear in a supporting role for the Punit Malhotra-directed romantic comedy Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, alongside Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. She is also confirmed to be the leading lady in Ekta Kapoor's The Villain opposite Sidharth Malhotra. She also has signed Haider opposite Shahid Kapoor and Gabbar opposite Akshay Kumar.

During the filming of Kapoor's film, Aashiqui 2 it was widely speculated that she was in a romantic relationship with co-star Aditya Roy Kapoor. However, it was denied by both the actors. Kapoor stated "Aditya and I got comfortable with each other... Off screen, we have become good friends and somewhere that has translated on the screen as well. That is wonderful." Later pictures of Kapoor and actor Varun Dhawan surfaces, when they were both having dinner together.
