The Yamato weapon concept is present in science fiction. The name is used for a capital spaceship's (eg. battlecruiser's) wave motion gun (an extremely powerful main weapon that requires time to charge beforehand and leaves the ship powerless and vulnerable after firing).

Examples include the ] spinoff ].

The concept was introduced in the ] anime series hence the name.
