BP RfC

Nathan, in July you closed an RfC on the coverage of the Deepwater Horizon spill in the BP article with the view that the section should be around two paragraphs long. Since that time no action to implement this result has been taken and all attempts to do so have been immediately reverted. What do you suggest as a way forward? I think a good first step might be if everyone involved, broadly construed, would agree that the section is effectively full protected. All edits to the section, as with any fully protected page, would need to be discussed beforehand on the talk page and when a consensus is formed, a previously uninvolved user would read the discussion and implement the agreed upon edit. (← That sentence could use a copyedit...) I just read the section for the first time, and there is a need for some good copy editing. Without removing any material, I estimate that the section could be trimmed by a third. -Nathan Johnson (talk) 17:49, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Rough consensus

Hi Nathan,

You seem to a frequent, proficient and respected closer of discussions. To date, documentation on Rough Consensus has been limited to a section in deletion policy, for administrators in closing deletion discussions. However, it is obviously more widely applicable, in every non-obvious close of a discussion. I think so, anyway. BACKLOG OF THE WEEK Category:Pages with broken reference names

Hello - some editors fight off the vandal hordes, as I do repairing pages with citation errors. If I didn't - there would be a large backlog in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting and in Category:Pages with missing references list as in Category:Pages with broken reference names (more than 1500 yesterday). But it is impossible to work it alone. Do you know how to do a "Blitz" (excuse the comparision) to find willing editors to work on it. It is much more easier to repair references if you do it one hour, one day or one week ago after the errors were made instead of months and years after the error was done. Very, very difficult to find these errors.

Only with WikiBlame Search it is possible to find and repair such errors.

BLP Vio

Perhaps I don't understand the method to your madness, but adding this

Savage has advocated for the killing of people who disagree with him.

as a stand alone paragraph in the lede of Dan Savage violates WP:POV, WP:DUE, WP:LEDE and most importantly WP:BLP. Please do not add this content again without gaining consensus and producing multiple, reliable sources that indicate that this off-handed remark should be represented in our encyclopedia in such a prominent fashion. - MrX 17:05, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
