St Peter's College, Auckland
I see that you have expanded the Notable former Staff section of this article, yet many of the entries are simply the name of an individual. Please add information that makes these individuals noteable. Within Misplaced Pages ...
- Notability is not an opinion, it is based on facts and a set of Misplaced Pages policies. A topic is notable if it has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, reliable published works, whose sources are independent of the subject itself. Enforcing notability criteria for articles is important, and ensures that articles meet core criteria such as verifiability and no original research.
I can understand that you, as an alumnus, believe that all of these individuals are noteable, and if they are, the Misplaced Pages community would appreciate you providing supporting information. If they are not, would you please consider removing them. Thank you. Truthanado 01:56, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hi there! Just wanted to say thanks for the compliment of 'tidied the article up' you said on your userpage. You must have worked countless hours on that article, and I've been trying to help out. Once again, thanks! jj137 20:44, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi Rick,
The Original Barnstar | ||
I hereby award this Original Barnstar for your ongoing and tireless work on the St Peter's College, Auckland article. Well done! Rob Lindsey 05:28, 5 June 2007 (UTC) |
- Even though the article may well need to be trimmed down at some point to meet some of Misplaced Pages's more stringent guidelines, you've done a huge amount of work that no one else seems to have noticed. Except for me! Keep it up. Rob Lindsey 05:28, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
P.S. I've never given a Barnstar before, which goes to show that I reckon you've earned it!
Thanks
Thanks For adding the extra paragraph on St Peters college Houses that I started . Damian R Thomson

John Paul College
We have an existing article at John Paul College (New Zealand), and since that has more history I've suggested we merge the new article you've started at John Paul College, Rotorua into it, even though your article is already much better developed. I'm not going to object to a merge in the other direction though. If you make the merge yourself, use an edit summary such as "merged from John Paul College, Rotorua", and change the other article to a redirect.-gadfium 06:34, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Mt Eden prisons
Could you please have a look here?. I am trying to link the reference you gave with the Herald database, which usually keeps all the articles of recent years online, freely accessible. But I had trouble getting the information you referenced with that ref. Please understand that I am not trying to get the info or the ref deleted - I am just curious, as to the what and why. Ingolfson 09:16, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
I have an extract from the hard copy of the New Zealand Herald, Friday , June 15, 2007, Section A, page 2, "GO-ahead for new Mt eden jail, by Elizabeth Binning (police reporter). Sorry, I don't know about internet versions. I have access to Knowledge Basket newstext and will check there when I get time. How else can I help?? Rick570 21.56, 21 october 2007(UTC)
- Its fine - I'm quite willing to trust you that you cited the information correctly. Just because something isn't online does not invalidate a reference. If you want to go the distance, maybe hunt down an additional reference for the riots which *is* online. Ingolfson 00:34, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- would appear to be a very good reference.-gadfium 00:42, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks as ever Gadfium. You are always so helpful. The old 1966 Encyclopedia of New Zealand is a great reference work, and it is very good that it is on line. I will add the reference in where appropriate when I get the time. Rick570 21.00, 23 october 2007(UTC)
Assumption College, Warwick
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Assumption College, Warwick, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Misplaced Pages is not" and Misplaced Pages's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of Assumption College, Warwick. Oo7565 (talk) 09:07, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Saint Mary's College Auckland
Do you know anything about a 1931 disappearance of a student at this school? A new editor added a paragraph about it, which I trimmed back to remove speculation, but I haven't been able to find any mention of this online.-gadfium 08:14, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi gadfium. When I get time, I will check about the alleged 1931 "disappearance" and get a reference. But such an incident does seem to be far too specific for the article as it is at the moment. We will see. Rick570 (talk) 20:42, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Auckland Grammar School
Could I possibley enquire about this change - ? The ref you've provided doesn't back that up first of all.. but I thought i'd run it by you as you seem a little mature for that sort of thing. Thank you, MattWT (talk) 06:22, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- Judging by your contributions, it seems like you're trying to promote you're old school. Either stop, or provide references to the facts you've added. MattWT (talk) 06:25, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your questioning my amendment to the page on Auckland Grammar School. You were correct that a level of contribution of $1,300 p.a. at St Peter's College could not easily be verified from the reference I had given. The fee level is buried in a pdf form in the St Peter's College web page. I should have provided a more specific reference. I am sorry I did not give the matter more attention at the time. I have found the appropriate and very specific link for the attendance dues of St Peter's College (which I now realise are considerably in excess of $1,300 pa (I was working from outdated information) - so, again, I am indeed very grateful to you for questioning that figure!)). I have now amended the Auckland Grammar School page accordingly. The amendment I have made is of course completely relevant to the discussion on parental financial contributions- especially since the schools are neighbours and have interacted very closely over the years (see several relevant references in the St Peter's College page). Thanks very much for your help.Rick570 (talk) 03:22, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Auckland secondary schools
I noticed that you recently added a list of the local general secondary schools, and Catholic ones, to many Auckland suburb articles. Do you have a source for this information, e.g a list of school zones, or a directory of school bus routes? I think simply using a map to determine the closest schools is not adequate.
You may have seen that I'm adding information about the schools in each suburb or town throughout New Zealand, and have recently started on the Rodney District. My most recent is Dairy Flat, and I found a source giving the secondary schools which students go to after finishing at Dairy Flat school, which is substantially different from the information which you have provided.-gadfium 03:10, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi Gadfium, I found the location of the schools from a commercial map, but obviously did not pay close enough attention to Dairy Flat. I can see that the schools relevant to Dairy Flat are probably Orewa College and Kingsway school (a state integrated composite year 1-15 school at Orewa). Also possibly Long Bay College and Whangaparoa College. The relevant Catholic State integrated schools are probably Carmel College, Rosmini College and Hato Petera College. Perhaps you could update the wiki page. No I did not know that you were engaged in such a painstaking project. I will consult you on such issues in the future. Thank you very much for your helpfulness and good sense over the last two years. Rick570 (talk) 04:11, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Megalists
Rick, while I can't find the exact policy page right now, that's definitely out of bounds. If people aren't notable enough for their own articles, they generally shouldn't be in someone else's.
Also, you wikilinked Boxing from the name of a school boxing coach. That's definitely not done here.
And please be careful about tossing around accusations of "vandalism" - that's a violation of WP:Assume good faith and WP:No personal attacks.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 21:37, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Reo Maohi Translation
Hi Rick,
I would like to ask you, which translator helped you translate this article into the Tahitian language? Can you email me his/her email address? (Because I am currently looking for a Tahitian translator to help me translate one of my articles into Tahitian).
My email address is: philip.brendangmail.com
(If that person can give me a free Tahitian translation for my article, then I would be willing to help you translate your "Saint Peter's College" article into the Minnan language.) --A-eng (talk) 22:30, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
New articles on schools
You're doing nice work with articles on Catholic schools in New Zealand. However, when you create such articles, please check with the List of schools in New Zealand subpages for existing articles. You appear to have missed that we already had an article on Sacred Heart Girls' College, Hamilton. Also, if there is no existing article, and you prefer to use a different name from the one I've chosen to use in the list articles, that's fine, but please create a redirect from the name in the list to the name you've chosen, or else change the name in the list.-gadfium 05:18, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
List of alumni of St Peter's College, Auckland
I see you have added a link to one of your user subpages in this article. It is generally not thought of as correct to link to userspace from articles, if you wish to create a seperate article or section on the list, that would be fine. There isn't a policy for not linking to userspace, however there are several reasons for it (see Reference Desk Archive). I would like to thank you for your contribution however. Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Rick570! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Stephen A. Parke
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Stephen A. Parke, and it appears to be very similar to another Misplaced Pages page: Stephen Parke. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Misplaced Pages:Copying within Misplaced Pages and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 20:57, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Stephen A. Parke
A tag has been placed on Stephen A. Parke requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Speedy deletion nomination of Stephen Parke (disambiguation)
Welcome to Misplaced Pages. A page you recently created, Stephen Parke (disambiguation), may not conform to some of Misplaced Pages's guidelines for new pages, so it will shortly be removed (if it hasn't been already). Please use the sandbox for any tests, and consider using the Article Wizard. For more information about creating articles, you may want to read Your first article. You may also want to read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. The disambiguation page refers to two articles: Stephen John Parke, which does not exist, and Stephen A. Parke, which has also been tagged for speedy deletion. As a result, it may meet Misplaced Pages’s criteria for speedy deletion as a dependent page of a page which does not exist, has been deleted, or is itself currently tagged for speedy deletion. Thank you. Davnor (talk) 21:53, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

I have performed a web search with the contents of Martin Reyners, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.royalsociety.org.nz/Site/About/Our_structure/academy/academy_yearbook/martinreynersfrsnz.aspx. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Misplaced Pages:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.)
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. Patrick Moran
Hi Rick, I did some cleanup to Patrick Moran (bishop) when I noticed that you are using ibid for additional uses of the same citation. This is an extremely bad idea because when another editor adds a different inline citation, the following ibids now refer to the new reference. Just avoid them completely and keep then for publications that do not changes over time like a Misplaced Pages article can. If you have ibids elsewhere I suggest you change them. I also linked directly to the biography pages URLs instead of to the base URL. Hope that helps. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 00:35, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

slow down
I'm seeing a lot of speedy deletion and AFD nomination notices on your talk page. Some of the articles have survived once references were added and some have been deleted. Please slow down a bit in creating articles, particularly those that are biographies of living people. Poorly sourced or completely unsourced BLP articles are going to be quickly deleted. Please add references to what you are writing about people before adding the article. It will save everyone a lot of time and trouble and prevent your hard work from being removed.--RadioFan (talk) 11:38, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hello, Rick570. I see you are doing a lot of good work, but are running into difficulties. Do you know about the option of creating articles in userspace, so that you avoid these problems? If you don't, but would like to know more, leave me a note on my talk page and I'll show you how that's done. Schwede66 03:31, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hello, Rick570, again. Re your note on my talk page, if you've got another article in mind that you'd like to create, please reply here (I've now watchlisted your page) with the name of the proposed article and we'll go from there. Schwede66 21:20, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Schwede66. You kindly offered to show me how to create articles in userspace. I want to create one called "John Bartholomew Callan". For some reason I associate you with Christchurch. If you do live there, I hope you have not been too inconvenienced by the earthquake. Looking forward to hearing from you in due course.Rick570 (talk) 06:20, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
- I've done this on your user page now. You'll find a redlink there, and the first character within the link is a forward slash. When you click on the redlink, you'll get to an edit window for the article. The forward slash will result in the article being created as a sub-page to your user page. When it's ready, I can show you how to move it into mainspace. You need to know that while you have articles in your userspace, you don't add categories to the article (or if you do, you start the category with a colon in front of the word Category, so that the categories show underneath the draft article, but the article won't list there yet).
- And with regards to the earthquake, nothing much happened to me, my house or my office. We had a rather nervous cat, and couldn't get to the office for a few days, but that's about it. Schwede66 08:58, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

- And with regards to the earthquake, nothing much happened to me, my house or my office. We had a rather nervous cat, and couldn't get to the office for a few days, but that's about it. Schwede66 08:58, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Nice work! I've gone over it and tweaked a few things as per WP:MOS. One thing that I'll do next (after breakfast) is to convert it to the shortened footnote referencing system, as you are frequently quoting from the same book (always citing the page numbers, which is great to see).
With respect to moving, that can now be done. On your menu, you should see the read button, edit button, the star for watchlisting pages. To the right of that, there should be a triangle. Hold your mouse over it, and you get a link to move a page. Voila. The question is, though, what the page should be called. From what I can gather, the judge was known as John Callan. He shared his name with his father, who as a legislative councillor is also notable. So I'd suggest that the junior's page is called John Callan (judge) and (eventually) his father's page John Callan (politician). What do you think? After you've moved the page, remove the colons from in front on 'Category'. Schwede66 20:52, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks very much. Yes I agree about the name change, of course. And I should have checked DNZB - a stupid omission. A very good article by Pat Downey. I am not quite sure how I change the name of the article? I will move it later this weekend after the name is changed. Thanks very much for your help.Rick570 (talk) 21:37, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
- Moving and renaming is one and the same. I've done it, so it's published. I'll convert it to the different referencing system now. I'll also nominate the article to DYK - will post a note about that on the article's talk page. I suggest we should continue article-related conversations there, but should carry on with mentoring issues here on your talk page. Schwede66 21:59, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I've finished now. It's a nice bio now, I reckon. What I've done is:
- I've added an infobox. There's a whole list of them and I tend to use quite specific ones (in this case, when you go to infobox officeholder, there's a specific one for judges).
- Given that Callan has been dead for quite some time, there's every chance that you can find a photo online that's in the public domain. This template summarises the PD situation for New Zealand, and regardless what copyright the National Library or whoever try to put on a photo, if the photo was taken more than 50 years ago by somebody who's been dead for at least 50 years, copyright simply does not exist any longer. In this case, we don't know who the photographer is (only the firm is listed), so it's all good.
- The last thing to do when you've created an article in userspace and then moved it into mainspace is to add it to the list at Misplaced Pages:New articles (New Zealand). A bot goes round and adds articles to a list and a selfless editor than sifts through it, throws out the ones that don't belong there and makes it all look pretty. It's a well-used resource, as many NZ Wikipedians keep an eye on this list, so that they can add to new articles. However, the bot ignores articles that have been created in userspace, so simply add it manually.
- I shall now do the DYK thing. Schwede66 23:19, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I've finished now. It's a nice bio now, I reckon. What I've done is:

- Why the reference to "Featherston"? The link ends up at Callan though? Thanks a lot.Rick570 (talk) 01:44, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Could you tell me how to use an image from http://www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/dbtw-wpd/heritageimages/keyword.htm as per the note on "Auckland photos" on http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:New_Zealand_Wikipedians%27_notice_board#Auckland_photos How do you save it from the website for uploading into wikipedia?Rick570 (talk) 03:54, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Richard Kearney (judge)
The article Richard Kearney (judge) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- insufficient notability - lower court judge and tribunal member
While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
In general, I think that a number of the articles you have created on St Peters College alumni fall below the threshold for notability on wikipedia, and others are very marginal. I would also have nominated Jonathan Temm except it seems to be based on a newspaper feature article (is that the Rotorua newspaper?). Points to note: honours do not confer notability unless they are in the top couple of ranks (ONZ, GNZM, KNZM/DNZM) - there are just too many of the lower ranks (e.g. MNZM) awarded. dramatic (talk) 22:34, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Canvassing for Peter Musson
Hello. It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on others' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote—in order to influence Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Peter Musson. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Misplaced Pages's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. Qwfp (talk) 07:18, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to Misplaced Pages. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Michael Birch (journalist). When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. "I'm working on it" is not a valid reason. Please address the issue, then remove the tag. elektrikSHOOS 05:03, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Rick, I've seen your Peter Gresham edit. You might have noticed the maintenance template on that page – it's one of the few unreferenced biographies of living people (uBLPs) that we have for NZ politicians. If you are interested in it, I'd appreciate if you could lend a hand and get rid of the last 26 of those uBLPs. It's a problem because uBLPs are no longer acceptable and in a few months, the remaining ones might get deleted. So there's been a bit of an effort to address the issues. There's a list of the NZ unsourced BLPs available and if you could help addressing those, that would be great. All it needs is a handful of references for those articles and it's done. Keen? Schwede66 06:55, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Jean Jolivet
The article Jean Jolivet has been proposed for deletion because under Misplaced Pages policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Misplaced Pages:Referencing for beginners or ask at Misplaced Pages:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Mhiji 03:22, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Martin van Beynen
The article Martin van Beynen has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Insufficient notability. All search results are articles by him or blog posts (not reliable sources) commenting on what he has written
While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Just a courtesy note that I have reverted your removal of the redlink to John Callan's father. As a member of the Legislative Council, he is certainly notable. Category:New Zealand Roman Catholics
Please don't add articles to Category:New Zealand Roman Catholics unless there is a reference to the individuals' adherence to Roman Catholicism. Schooling at a Catholic school is no indication of someone's faith. Not only is it potential misinformation but the individual may get upset at being labelled as something that they are not. As an atheist I know that I would be quite annoyed if I had a Misplaced Pages article that described me as a Roman Catholic. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 07:32, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of St Paul's Catholic College, Manly
A tag has been placed on St Paul's Catholic College, Manly, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.
If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}

Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DASHBot (talk) 06:14, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

(Anglican) Diocese of Waiapu
Hi Rick. I had moved Anglican Diocese of Waiapu to Diocese of Waiapu because it is the only Diocese of Waiapu – it is therefore consistent with the project I am undertaking to properly dab(/undab) Diocese of ... pages. DBD 08:16, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- You are quite right, there has not been any particular agreement – more that there has thusfar been no disagreement. Now, I have also noticed that RC dios are almost always at "Roman Catholic (Archd/D)iocese of X," and I have been complying with this tendency. However, that is not a preference shared by the Anglican communion – generally dioceses refer to themselves as the Diocese of Wherever. (In fact in England, where the C of E is established, they have very good legal basis to claim the title "THE Diocese of Otherplace.") Thus for non-RC dioceses and bishops, I have been undabbing pages where they are the only one of that name because the dab is unnecessary, since there is nothing from which to dab i.e. the Diocese of Waiapu is not the Anglican Diocese of Waiapu, but the only Diocese of Waiapu. (I have been using catholic-hierarchy.org to check which RC (arch)dioceses have existed.) PS: there are no Anglican archdioceses; for us an archbishop heads a diocese. DBD 13:19, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- Excellent to hear the wonderful Kiwi weather and people are being kind to TRH. I fear I may have mangled my above message: the intent was not to argue that English usage should be applied worldwide (not NZ usage) since that would be against WP:NPOV. Rather, I meant that there is no need for disambiguating the Anglican dioceses where those are the only dioceses of their name. DBD 21:22, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Russell Haley
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Russell Haley requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.bookcouncil.org.nz/Writers/Profiles/Haley,%20Russell. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Misplaced Pages takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Misplaced Pages to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Misplaced Pages:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Misplaced Pages:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. duffbeerforme (talk) 08:30, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Hello User:Rick570. I see that a number of BLPs that you have created have either been deleted because the subjects have not been found notable enough for Misplaced Pages or have been proposed for deletion on those grounds. You should consider that by making such nominations you are damaging the reputations or hurting the feelings of the people affected. You might wish to reconsider your editing practices. Xxanthippe (talk) 21:47, 12 November 2013 (UTC).
Autopatrolled 2
Hi Rick. I haven't come across you before, and I take no pleasure in saying so, but I don't think it's appropriate for you to have the autopatrolled right at this time. I'm in the process of deleting several articles you created which attracted solid consensus to delete at AfD, and I see that you've had a good deal of other articles deleted, some speedily or even as copyright violations. It would appear you were assigned the autopatrolled permission through a bot request. In light of these recent deletions, do you think you should continue to have this permission? --BDD (talk) 22:41, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
User:Rick570
Hello Xxanthippe The deletion nominations are not being made by me. But I will be much more conservative in creating articles on living persons in the future for the reason you mention. I feel helpless to defend the articles in the face of such a wholesale attack. But I am attempting to preserve the texts of the articles for future development and republishing. Have you any other suggestions? talk). Rick570 (talk) 22:05, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
- My suggestion is that you familiarize yourself with Misplaced Pages's policies, conventions and standards on notability and so avoid writing inadequate articles that get deleted. You may also wish to consider seeking the permission of the people about whom you write BLPs. You may be surprised by the small number in favor. As a first step I suggest you WP:prod all the BLPs that you have written but have not yet been deleted. Anybody else who wishes to keep them can remove the prod. Xxanthippe (talk) 07:23, 14 November 2013 (UTC).
(copied from my talk page). Xxanthippe (talk) 09:51, 14 November 2013 (UTC).
- You could also forgo PROD and tag them with G7, if appropriate. --BDD (talk) 17:03, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Repost of User:Rick570/B Matt
A tag has been placed on User:Rick570/B Matt requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's discussion directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of recreating the page. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.racp.org.nz/page/library/college-roll/college-roll-detail&id=898.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. duffbeerforme (talk) 23:03, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
