RC’s often breaks in the 12-18 foot range with the right hurricane and offshore wind. With the inside reef, it tends to “suck up”, get steep and hollow. A surfer in the wrong spot on the inside can find himself getting pounded and pinned with a ] as a result of under estimating the inside reef of RC’s. The reef is a serious danger. The locals call the walk out to begin the paddle out the “rock walk”. A surfer or swimmer in the water can be walking in 4 feet of water, stub toes and knees, climb the reef and be in 6 inches of water.
