Michael W. Kempner is the founder, President, and CEO of the MWW Group, a top American Public Relations firm headquartered in East Rutherford, New Jersey with 9 offices across the United States and England. Kempner is also known for his service to the U.S. government in varied capacities and for his political fundraising efforts for the Democratic Party. He is a Deputy Finance Chair of the Democratic National Committee, a National Finance co-chair for Hillary Clinton's 2008 Presidential run, Deputy Finance Director of the Obama Campaign, a member of Obama for President National Finance Committee, and is a member of the DNC National Finance Council. As the President and CEO of MWW, Kempner has won a variety of awards, including the 2013 American Business Awards’ Executive of the year in the Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations category, 2013 Bulldog Stars of PR Awards’ Communications Professional of the Year, 2013 Bulldog Stars of PR Awards’ Agency Professional of the Year, 2012 International Business Awards’ Public Relations Executive of the Year, 2012 American Business Awards’ PR Executive of the Year, and the 2012 PR News Awards’ Professional of the Year. Kempner has also been inducted into the PR Hall of Fame by PR News.

Education

In 1981, Kempner earned a Bachelor of Science from American University in Washington, D.C. As an alum, he serves as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee of the American University School of Communications.

Career

Kempner founded MWW Group in 1986.

Kempner is also a founding board member of ConnectOne Bancorp (NASDAQ: CNOB).

Kempner is a lecturer, writer, and Huffington Post contributor on topics such as public relations, management, marketing, and crisis communications.

Politics

Kempner is a government servant and political fundraiser. He was one of Hillary Clinton’s National Finance co-chairs and a lead fundraiser for her 2008 bid for the U.S. Presidency. He later took up a “significant fundraising role” for President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign.

In 2010, Kempner hosted a $30,400/plate fundraising dinner for the Democratic Party at his home in Cresskill, New Jersey, which President Obama attended. In December 2010, President Obama appointed Kempner a member of the White House Council for Community Solutions, a council that focuses on community-based solutions to "reengage disenfranchised youth."

Kempner is the Deputy Finance Chair of the Democratic National Committee and a member of the Obama for President National Finance Committee. He is a member of the DNC National Finance Committee, the New Jersey Finance Chair for the DNC, and a member of the New Jersey Government Advisory Council on Volunteerism and Community Service.
