Welcome to the Misplaced Pages
I noticed you were new, and wanted to share some links I thought useful:

Miguel de Cervantes
I removed the two paragraphs you added to the start of the Cervantes article. That sort of content should go on the Talk page (found via the "discussion" link at the top of the page) rather than in the article itself. In addition, I'm not comfortable with anything that dissuades users from contributing; even if a user's English skills aren't strong, he may have content worth contributing that other users will happily clean up later. | Keithlaw 21:54, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Project Gutenberg may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Project Gutenberg
Criticism is OK, but please make sure that it's adequately sourced - original research ("I've checked X books there and none of them mentions what edition they digitised.") isn't allowed. Also, please use neutral wording - "is blissfully unaware of various versions or translations" is a biased statement (and one that would be hard to prove), "doesn't state which edition or translation the digitised text is based on" would be more neutral. --Six words (talk) 07:23, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
Your message on my talk page
I replied to your message on my talk page, but I've moved the conversation to the article's talk page as that's the best place to discuss an article. I also noticed that you didn't sign your post, here's some information on how to do that.
When you add content to talk pages and Misplaced Pages pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you and I hope you like Misplaced Pages and decide to stay. Experts are always appreciated. Just make sure you back up what you write with reliable sources (see WP:REFB for instructions on how to do that). Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 01:33, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Edit warring...
Daniel, sorry but please use the article Talk page to discuss edits instead of repeatedly reverting. Repeatedly reverting may be considered edit-warring, and can result in a block, especially if you do more than 3 within a 24-hour period, see WP:EW and WP:3RR. Zad68

Silk Road
Hi Daniel. In the Silk Road (marketplace) article I have removed your edit, "Silk Road has been said to reduce violence connected with the traditional illegal drugs trade." This is because, 1) it is in the "Criticism" section, and it is not a criticism, and 2) it may be true, but it needs a reference, otherwise it is hearsay. - Oniscoid 09:33, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, the new section and the refs are fine, and it's a valid point. Though as an aside, the current annual trading volume of illegal drugs on Silk Road is approx US$50M; whereas the annual total trading volume worldwide of illegal drugs is approx US$500B, (10,000 times greater); though Silk Road may be physically safer for its users, it is unlikely to have a major effect on violent crime statistics. - Oniscoid 15:02, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
References
Please use high quality references per WP:MEDRS such as review articles or major textbooks. Note that review articles are NOT the same as peer reviewed articles. A good place to find medical sources is TRIP database Thanks.

Deletion discussion about Nifty erotic stories archive
Hello, Deisenbe,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Nifty erotic stories archive should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Nifty erotic stories archive .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks, Vanjagenije (talk) 11:20, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

Your recent editing history at Middle Ages shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Repost of Porn for the blind
A tag has been placed on Porn for the blind requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's discussion directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of recreating the page. Thank you. • Gene93k (talk) 19:01, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Doniago. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Prohibition in the United States, but you didn't provide a reliable source. Edward Carpenter
Hi, thanks for spotting the dead external link on Edward Carpenter. Just a little tip - the best way of marking dead links is to put {{dead}} after the link - this "tags" the page as having a dead link. All the best, DuncanHill (talk) 01:41, 18 September 2014 (UTC)

Campaign for "santorum" neologism
You need a published source making that observation. We don't just add random comments made by editors to articles. --NeilN 18:17, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
Why this policy
In answer to your question about "why this policy" at the OR notice board, I pointed you to some better venues to have that discussion. However, in the spirit of discussion, my own answer to the question has to do with Misplaced Pages's need for verifiability. We are trying to build an encyclopedia that the public can turn to for reliable information. In order to do so, we rely on the fact that the information presented here has been published elsewhere in a reliable source first. We count on the fact that those reliable sources are exercising some level of editorial review so that facts published in them can be reasonably relied on to be true. When users publish their own original research, we have no idea of the validity of that information. Because of Misplaced Pages's anonymous user accounts, we don't even have a reasonably expectation that "experts" are who they say they are. So, by banning original research, we maintain a higher level of verifiability. Make sense? WikiDan61ReadMe!! 23:04, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Translators of Miguel de Cervantes
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. This is a notice that Translators of Miguel de Cervantes, a page that you created, has been tagged for deletion. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It appears to be a test page. (See section G2 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do, and take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
- It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Misplaced Pages has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Misplaced Pages:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Recent edit to Cauldron (disambiguation)
Hello, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. Your recent edit to Cauldron (disambiguation) added the name of an apparently non-notable entity. In general, a person or organization added to a list should have a pre-existing article to establish notability. If you wish to create such an article, please confirm that your subject is notable according to Misplaced Pages's notability guideline. Thank you! Onel5969 (talk) 13:14, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Mater lectionis
The use of the word abjad to mean "consonantal alphabet" is a somewhat recent neologism, which is by no means universally accepted, so there would need to be further explanation for it to be used in that article. (Also, "consonant" has no "e".) -- AnonMoos (talk) 04:41, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

It’s sad Sabrina Erdely’s article wasn't better investigated
As a father of a beautiful daughter, I am saddened that Sabrina Erdely’s Rolling Stone article about the alleged gang rape wasn’t better investigated. I think the discussion our society needs to continue having about handling rape better has been hurt because Erdely didn’t investigate the allegations more before publishing. The article could have started a discussion about how to reduce rape on colleges; it has instead become a discussion about what really happened to Jackie. Samboy (talk) 23:12, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
