Thank you Philg88. You explained to me on my Teahouse question what the problem was with my subpage being critiqued for 2 disambiguation entries. I figured out why that had happened. You then need to ensure that it meets Misplaced Pages guidelines, particularly with regards to notability, which means adding the references you cited at the deletion review. That said, we don't normally have a large pull quote in the middle of an article—it can be precised and turned into article text with appropriate references. Hi again  Philg88 . Respected editor @ Randykitty has changed the word 'discovery' to 'development' in Sunil Kumar Verma giving the reason that technology can not be discovered. Do you agree with this? I think that if technology can not be 'discovered', surely it could be 'invented' thats why in a patent document the term 'inventor' and 'invention' is used as was used in the patent documents pertaining to Universal primer technology (see the Abstract which reads as...The invention provides novel universal primers....") Honestly speaking, I also do not know what is this award, but this is the name of award (Emerging forensic scientist continental award) which IAFS gives. Other recipients of this award were: David Exline, Senior Vice President, Gateway (Read in his biography), and writer of this book. Hello  Philg88 ! I have done final tweaking at my end and also added the missing citations in Sunil Kumar Verma. Hope these would be acceptable and there would not be major issues now. This article somehow has taken lots of time, but it was worth as it also made DYK. In the light of UPT and Barcoding discussion as done recently on talk page of this article, it is possible that it would make a featured article one day soon. Thanks to you and all senior editors for all support, guidance and help.

I would like to move on to some other articles now, with your permission. I am thinking to work on articles for most important Awards & Honors that are given to Indian Citizens, professionals etc but that are missing from wikipedia. I will also take up project on improving the existing biographies of Indian achievers already on wiki and updating them with most recent information and knowledge. Sorry to bother you again dear  Philg88 . I found some more interesting facts about the Universal primer technology of Verma and Singh. This technology was indeed used by Therion International, an independent animal testing lab in New York to uncover the biggest seafood scandal of Florida and other parts of America in several undercover investigations carried out by ABC7 Whistleblower and WKRG News 5 investigators, revealing that almost half of seafood was wrongly labelled as a more expensive variety. I have added this in the article Sunil Kumar Verma along with appropriate citations and links to online DNA testing reports mentioning clearly that technology of Verma and Singh was used for testing. Hope it will add value to article and demonstrate why the DYK feature of 23 December 2014 was a great news.

Thanks  Philg88 . This article (R. Dawkins) is great! I dont think Verma can be developed to this extent, but I had tried my best to add some new genuine references and one extra paragraph in article to illustrate how important his discovery of universal primer technology was indeed not only for India but for entire world from some fact files. I found some important photos, award ceremonies, Plaque etc related to his career on Indianscholars Press. One plaque is signed by 10 Nobel Laureates, and President of India. About this ANI thread, you closed . You closed it way too early, clearly discussion was going on. You left no option to reply, while the editor you quoted (Scottywong) had changed their argument and made grave accusations against me. Also, in your closing statement, you show to take sides, that is: you entered your opinion in the conclusion. That makes you an involved editor (quite simply: opinions go in the thread, uninvolved editors close). FWIW, looking at the source I would say that a journal published by the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at University of Pennsylvania under the editorship of Victor H. James Matheson, William Jardine (merchant), History of Jardine, Matheson & Core drug trafficking

Are you contending that they i)opium is not a drug/narcotic, ii)that Jardine and Matheson were not smugglers.

Would you be brave enough to rewrite these three articles to remove opium smuggling from their resumes. If not "drug trafficker" what do you suggest? Would the category one up be agreeable Category:Smugglers.--KTo288 (talk) 19:49, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi there, and thanks for the message. I'm not contending that opium isn't a drug nor that Jardine and Matheson weren't opium smugglers because that's what reliable sources say. What I am against is linking this to modern day drug trafficking, which is a completely different pigeon and doesn't factor in the social and moral context of the first half of the 19th century. Of course, if one wanted to split hairs, it was the Chinese who actually smuggled the drug into the country, JM just flogged it to them off Lintin Island or further up the coast. @Enigmafay: The poll remained open for seven days, which is the normal time period for sundry discussions so I don't intend to reopen it. This whole thing needs to be resolved in short order—a minor content dispute like this should not have required such a prolonged and tortuous discussion. Consensus indicates that the abuse allegations should be covered in the article (with the caveats noted in the straw poll close) and that ought to be pretty much the end of it unless there is a breach of Misplaced Pages policies/guidelines.  Philg88  06:57, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

@Jim Cartar: (I'm posting here to keep the conversation intact.) Back online, for now. The attack was actually three consecutive attacks, but not noteworthy since they did not affect the entire system just most of it. A hacker group called Lizard Squad, thought to originate in Russia, has claimed responsibility for it. The were out to cause trouble for the gaming company Electronic Arts and blacked out large parts of Sweden in the process. In a statement they say that the attacks will continue on this and other gaming companies until Christmas. December 2014 GOCE newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors December 2014 Newsletter Drive: Thanks to everyone who participated in November's Backlog Elimination Drive. Of the 43 people who signed up for this drive, 26 copy edited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: The November Drive removed 26 requests from the Requests page and 509 articles from the {{copy edit}} backlog. We copy edited 83 articles tagged in the target months; July, August, and September 2013. Together with tag removals from articles unsuitable for copy editing, we eliminated July 2013 from the backlog and reduced August and September's tags to 61 and 70 respectively. As of 01:01, 1 December 2014 (UTC), the backlog stood at 1,974 articles, dipping below 2,000 for the first time in the Guild's history (see graph at right). Well done everyone! Deletion caused problems

Phil, you deleted Kathi Darbar(Kshatriya) by renaming it without leaving a redirect. Unfortunately, you broke multiple links and redirects to this page in the process. The article had been at that mis-spaced title since 2010. Because the title is so old, it does not qualify for speedy deletion (which is exactly what you did), but instead needs discussion at WP:Redirects for discussion before being deleted. I've restored the redirect, but in the future, do not move without redirects unless the old name qualifies for speedy deletion. Also, do not move without a redirect without fixing incoming links. Sorry about that. Strictly speaking it wasn't a speedy deletion but a page move over a redirect. That said, it was my bad not leaving the redirect, which I did on the basis of a spacing error not requiring one. The page should not be deleted, and its four years at that title would almost certainly lead to a keep decision at Redirects for Discussion. We can fix our links, but we can't fix the rest of the Internet. Since the page doesn't need to be deleted anyway, the incoming links don't really need to be fixed anyway. A follow on question to previous help, now about removing an orphan tag

Hello Philg88,

You helped me before on Teahouse with a question about the Janice Lourie Misplaced Pages page, so I am returning with a follow on question. The page has been tagged with an orphan tag, however it is only a week old. It doesn't make sense to me that it should have internal links. The page has many external references to insure its notability.

Janice Lourie is pending AFC submission. (Just added the pending status in case that is relevant to me request)

@Janvermont: Hi there! The orphan tag was added by an automated editor known as a "bot", so if you remove the tag it will be put back again. What you need to do is to solve the underlying problem and create one or more incoming links to the article. I went to the Longy article and found you added my name to the alumni and student list. Now I have a specific link which I would like to have, but not sure if it can be done. Herman Goldstine who ha a Misplaced Pages page, commented in his book on page 20, the computer from Pascal to Von Neumann, about the significance of one of my patents. The book is listed in his publication section. Is there a way to use this as a link?

About your DYK nomination

About that article Sunil Kumar Verma that you nominated for DYK: I want to let you know that I am changing a word in the article, and also in the DYK hook (which is currently in the prep area). I changed it to say "assignment to a known species source," rather than "assignation". The most common meaning of "assignation" is a meeting - particularly a secret meeting, like a lovers' rendezvous. I hope you don't mind this change. However, I just noticed that one user named Inder neal has added the deletion tag on this article by giving a reason which was thoroughly discussed, reviewed and administered during the rescue process. Can you see this article? I have just removed some parts of it, as they were likely unsourced and offered some negative synthesis. Huáng Cháo Qǐyì means Huáng Cháo Revolution or Huáng Cháo Uprising? @Bladesmulti: Hi there! I've (hopefully) made some sense of this. The Chinese article is under 黃巢之亂 while 黄巢起义 is a redirect to the former. There is no longer a "political" issue over the name. Needs more work for sure. Cheers,  Philg88  08:40, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

History of Kerala

Why was my edit in this page reverted? At least you should have mentioned the reason in your edit summary. The source I added is a blog source but the article is well researched and hence can be considered an exception as per WP:ELNO. A few days ago I started a straw poll at Talk:Satyananda Saraswati on the material that was the subject of controversy because I was fairly sure there was a consensus and wanted to confirm it (I know all the caveats about polling and wrote a preamble detailing them). Could you suggest how long the poll should remain open? I was thinking seven days. Does that seem reasonable? Original research and reliable sources

Hi Philg88.

I saw you just closed the discussion at WP:ANI. Let me ask you something. Suppose a person self-puclishes a conspiracy book that, among other things, claims that an Italian Renaissance text says "X". Now suppose the actual text is available online and says "not X" (in Italian). Also an old translation into english is available online and says "not X".

Do you believe it is "original research" to change the wikipedia Article from "Italian guy said X is true" to "Italian guy said X is not true"?
