== Concerns ==

You have recently edited some pages that are on my watch list and looking at some of these edits I am very concerned that you are introducing inaccuracies.

#] This Sir Anthony Hungerford of Black Bourton (1567–1627) has had his father linked to the article ] (born by 1492, died 18 November 1558). Check the DOB and DOD of the two articles.
#] Hungerford is not a "noble family". "Knight" is not an occupation it is a title.
#] is the most concerning of these three. You have added information into the middle of a cited sentence without any additional information. This makes it look as if the information is in the DNB source. This is a clear breach of ] "{{green|Do not add other facts or assertions into a fully cited paragraph or sentence}}". If you make a habit of this please stop it immediately as it makes a mockery of inline citations and fix all such additions you have made to other articles.

point three above includes a link to an article called ] which you have recently created. I have a number of concerns about this article.
#What is you source that her name was "Anne Hungerford Lee" and not the usual form of being the daughter of her father (and having his name until she married when she would have taken on the surname of her husband. This form of name is extremely unusual for an English woman of that time.
#"was a member of the English nobility" says who?
#Your source for her relationship to Anthony Hungerford of Black Bourton is for an unreliable source http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/HUNGERFORD.htm. If you can not find a reliable one then all that information that relies on it must be removed.
#In the first sentence of "Early life" you have messed up the women's names whey they marry they drop their maiden names so "his fifth cousin Lucy Hungerford" is incorrect she was "his fifth cousin Lucy <s>Hungerford</s>, daughter of..." putting Hungerford implies that she was a widow (of another man also called Hungerford).
#What is the source for fifth cousin and how is it relevant to anything? If you want to put in anything then "his wife Lucy, daughter..." would be more appropriate.
#The sentence "Anne Dormer was the sister of Jane Dormer, a lady in waiting to Queen Mary I, and later wife of the Duke of Feria. Both Anne Dormer and Jane Dormer were prominent recusants." has been copied from another Misplaced Pages page (]) without giving adequate attribution, this is a breach of copyright see ] what is nearly as bad is that you were sloppy and only copied the text with short citations leaving behind the long ones in the reference section behind. If you have made any other copies from one article to another without attributing the copies please list them all here and I will fix them.
#The citation at the end of "This made Anne great-aunt to their son" was copied from . As the text was not copied from that article have you read the ODNB entry or have you have extrapolated the relationship and not viewed the source to check if it is in there.

I am considering putting the article ] up for deletion because even if a reliable source can be found to substantiate her relationship with her father, what did she or her husband to that is notable? If all it is is emigrate early to the colonies that can be put in as a sentence in her fathers biography. The big difference between the article on this woman and say those on ] and ] is that they are women who left a notable footprint in history, by being courtiers and in the case of the second one a salacious divorce case.

Wiki Loves Libraries 2013

WIKI LOVES LIBRARIES 2013!
You're invited to attend the upcoming "Wiki Loves Libraries" edit-athon. The event will be held from 1–4pm on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Portland Art Museum's Crumpacker Family Library, located on the second floor of the Museum's Mark Building (formerly the Masonic Temple). The edit-athon will focus on the local arts community (but you can work on other topics as well!). It will also kick off the Oregon Arts Project, an on-wiki initiative to improve coverage of the arts in Oregon. Details and signup here!

Konrad, if you are able to attend, this edit-athon is being hosted at the Portland Art Museum. Our hope is that attendees will be interested in writing about the local arts community, though it's not required. It would be great if experienced editors like you were able to come write and meet other Wikipedians. Feel free to bring interested friends! Hope to see you there. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:31, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Opting in to VisualEditor

As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit ") is currently available on the English Misplaced Pages only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 100 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Misplaced Pages:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 18:27, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

Feedback needed on using special characters

Hello. Thank you so much for using VisualEditor. Having editors use it is the best way for the Wikimedia Foundation to develop it into the best tool it can be.

While we always welcome general feedback (please report any issues in Bugzilla in the "VisualEditor" product or drop your feedback on the central feedback page on MediaWiki.org), the developers are especially interested right now in feedback on the special character inserter. This new tool is used for inserting special characters (including symbols like , IPA pronunciation symbols, mathematics symbols, and characters with diacritics). It is intended to help people whose computers do not have good character inserters. For example, many Mac users prefer to use the extensive "Special Characters…" tool present at the bottom of the Edit menu in all applications or to learn the keyboard shortcuts for characters like ñ and ü.

The current version of the special characters tool in VisualEditor is very simple and very basic. It will be getting a lot of work in the coming weeks and months. It does not contain very many character sets at this time. (The specific character sets can be customized at each Misplaced Pages, so that each project could have a local version with the characters it wants.) But the developers want your ideas at this early stage about ways that the overall concept could be improved. I would appreciate your input on this question, so please try out the character inserter and tell me what changes to the design would (or would not!) best work for you.

Screenshot of the Insert menu in VisualEditor
The "insert" pulldown on the task bar of VisualEditor will lead you to the '⧼visualeditor-specialcharacterinspector-title⧽' tool.
Screenshot of Special Characters tool
This is the ⧼visualeditor-specialcharacterinspector-title⧽ inserter as it appears on many wikis. (Some may have customized it.) Your feedback on this tool is particularly important.

Issues you might consider:

  • Do you normally use a character inserter? Which character sets are useful to you? Should it include all 18 of the character sets provided in the wikitext editor's newer toolbar at the English Misplaced Pages, the 10 present in the older editor toolbar, or some other combination of character sets?
  • How many special characters would you like to see at one time?
    • Should there be a "priority" or "favorites" section for the 10 or 12 characters that most editors need most often? Is it okay if you need an extra click to go beyond the limited priority set?
    • How should the sections be split up? Should they be nested? Ordered?
    • How should the sections be navigated? Should there be a drop-down? A nested menu?
  • The wikitext editor has never included many symbols and characters, like and . Do you find that you need these missing characters? If the character inserter in VisualEditor includes hundreds or thousands of special characters, will it be overwhelming? How will you find the character you want? What should be done for users without enough space to display more than a few dozen characters?
  • Should the character inserter be statically available until dismissed? Should it hover near the mouse? Should it go away on every selection or 10 seconds after a selection with no subsequent ones?
  • Some people believe that the toolbar already has too many options—how would you simplify it?

The developers are open to any thoughts on how the special character inserter can best be developed, even if this requires significant changes.

Please leave your views on the MediaWiki feedback page (your regular username/password works there), or, if you'd prefer, you can contact me directly on my talk page. It would be really helpful if you can tell me how frequently you need to use special characters in your typical editing and what languages are important to you.

Thank you again for your work with VisualEditor and for any feedback you can provide. I really do appreciate it. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 23:42, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Marie Bonaparte

You changed her relationship to Napoleon I from "great-grandniece" to "great-great-grandniece", but great-grandniece is the correct relationship.

Napoleon I's brother Lucien Bonaparte's son Pierre Napoleon Bonaparte was Napoleon I's nephew. His son was Roland Bonaparte, Napoleon I's grandnephew. His daughter Marie was therefore Napoleon I's great-grandniece. It was Marie's daughter, Eugénie of Greece, who was Napoleon I's great-great-grandniece. - Nunh-huh 07:00, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

style="padding-left: .6em;"

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride, a global campaign to create and improve LGBT-related content at Misplaced Pages during the month of June, culminating with a multinational edit-a-thon on June 21. The project is being spearheaded by two organizers with roots in the Pacific Northwest. Meetups are being organized in some cities, or you can participate remotely. Wikimedia Commons will also be hosting an LGBT-related photo challenge.

In Portland, there are two ways to contribute. One is a photography campaign called "Pride PDX", for pictures related to LGBT culture and history. The Wiki Loves Pride edit-a-thon will be held on Saturday, June 21 from noon–4pm at Smith Memorial Student Union, Room 236 at Portland State University. Prior Misplaced Pages editing is not required; assistance will be available the day of the event. Attendees should bring their own laptops and cords.

Feel free to showcase your work here!

Re: Eric Rosswood

Hey! I am so sorry, but I thought your article looked great and was worthy of being published. I thought Drafts were for newer contributors who sought help with improvements, but perhaps I am confusing Drafts and Articles for Creation? Either way, I probably should have asked you before moving the article to the main space. My intentions were good, and I only moved the article because I thought it made a good encyclopedia entry. Sorry. :(

Somewhat related, I also saw your draft for Lauren Scott. I see now that you have made a few edits to the article, but I am not sure what happens to the draft page. Either way, I am glad that we both identified her as notable and created Misplaced Pages articles about her.

I went to the Pride Parade today and will upload some pictures as part of Wiki Loves Pride. If you are interested, you should attend the edit-a-thon at PSU next weekend. Thanks for leaving a message. Sorry, again, about moving your draft--I won't interfere again! :) --Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Concerns

You have recently edited some pages that are on my watch list and looking at some of these edits I am very concerned that you are introducing inaccuracies.

  1. Anthony Hungerford of Black Bourton 15:51, 11 January 2015 This Sir Anthony Hungerford of Black Bourton (1567–1627) has had his father linked to the article Anthony Hungerford of Down Ampney (born by 1492, died 18 November 1558). Check the DOB and DOD of the two articles.
  2. Anthony Hungerford of Black Bourton Revision as of 19:01, 11 January 2015 Hungerford is not a "noble family". "Knight" is not an occupation it is a title.
  3. Anthony Hungerford of Black Bourton Revision as of 19:02, 11 January 2015 is the most concerning of these three. You have added information into the middle of a cited sentence without any additional information. This makes it look as if the information is in the DNB source. This is a clear breach of Text–source integrity "Do not add other facts or assertions into a fully cited paragraph or sentence". If you make a habit of this please stop it immediately as it makes a mockery of inline citations and fix all such additions you have made to other articles.

point three above includes a link to an article called Anne Hungerford Lee which you have recently created. I have a number of concerns about this article.

  1. What is you source that her name was "Anne Hungerford Lee" and not the usual form of being the daughter of her father (and having his name until she married when she would have taken on the surname of her husband. This form of name is extremely unusual for an English woman of that time.
  2. "was a member of the English nobility" says who?
  3. Your source for her relationship to Anthony Hungerford of Black Bourton is for an unreliable source http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/HUNGERFORD.htm. If you can not find a reliable one then all that information that relies on it must be removed.
  4. In the first sentence of "Early life" you have messed up the women's names whey they marry they drop their maiden names so "his fifth cousin Lucy Hungerford" is incorrect she was "his fifth cousin Lucy Hungerford, daughter of..." putting Hungerford implies that she was a widow (of another man also called Hungerford).
  5. What is the source for fifth cousin and how is it relevant to anything? If you want to put in anything then "his wife Lucy, daughter..." would be more appropriate.
  6. The sentence "Anne Dormer was the sister of Jane Dormer, a lady in waiting to Queen Mary I, and later wife of the Duke of Feria. Both Anne Dormer and Jane Dormer were prominent recusants." has been copied from another Misplaced Pages page (Anne Hungerford) without giving adequate attribution, this is a breach of copyright see Misplaced Pages:Copying within Misplaced Pages what is nearly as bad is that you were sloppy and only copied the text with short citations leaving behind the long ones in the reference section behind. If you have made any other copies from one article to another without attributing the copies please list them all here and I will fix them.
  7. The citation at the end of "This made Anne great-aunt to their son" was copied from Henry Cary, 4th Viscount Falkland. As the text was not copied from that article have you read the ODNB entry or have you have extrapolated the relationship and not viewed the source to check if it is in there.

I am considering putting the article Anne Hungerford Lee up for deletion because even if a reliable source can be found to substantiate her relationship with her father, what did she or her husband to that is notable? If all it is is emigrate early to the colonies that can be put in as a sentence in her fathers biography. The big difference between the article on this woman and say those on Anne Bassett and Anne Hungerford is that they are women who left a notable footprint in history, by being courtiers and in the case of the second one a salacious divorce case.
