== Not your talk page ==

IPadPerson, I don't know what you think you were doing , but it's none of your beeswax what Winkelvi does on their talk page. That thread may ''only'' be removed by Winkelvi since it's their talk page; {{U|MaranoFan}} has no business whatsoever removing a thread on Winkelvi's talk page ''after Winkelvi (or anyone else) has responded to their comment''. Clear? Thank you. (And MaranoFan, user spaces are ''not'' exempt from 3R, with one exception: to a great extent, Winkelvi is free to do what they want there.) ] (]) 02:39, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Chris Brown X

Chris Browns X album has tentatively been set for September 16, 2014 so I'd appreciate if you would leave it as is. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Breezybethel (talkcontribs) 21:12, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Nicki

Can you please change Nicki Minaj's profile picture? It's really outdated, and unflattering. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Trey Flo96 (talkcontribs) 18:20, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Edit summaries

Hi IPadPerson, I know that Misplaced Pages can be a frustrating place sometimes, but could you try to tone down the edit summaries some? I'm not personally very sensitive about profanity, but some other contributors are, so it's good to avoid it if you can. Thannks, Mark Arsten (talk) 00:25, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

Revert

Please do not revert my edits again without explaining why. I removed that section because it was a repetition of what was in Background and release section. prism 20:14, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

question about warnings

Hi, so I noticed warning that you placed on a user's talk page and, try as I might, I cannot find where they have added defamatory content to any articles whatsoever. Do you have a diff of when and how they did this? Thanks so much! Deville (Talk) 04:57, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

The "defamatory content" of IP address 94.14.112.118 is on several articles. You can go to his/her contributions page. He/she has changed articles by 63 bytes by adding "See release history" in small text (See differences between revisions for those articles). I along with other users have reverted those edits he/she made because that is disruptive editing, and has been told why and warned on his/her talk page; he/she has done this since yesterday (February 15th). I then reported him/her to administrators and he/she has now been blocked for 48 hours for his/her unconstructive contributions. --IPadPerson (talk) 00:31, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Updating Ellie Goulding

Hi there! :)

Would you change the phrase: 'As of June 2013, she has sold an estimated three million albums and ten million singles worldwide' to now he updated: 'With over 15 million singles and 4 million album sales worldwide'. Thanks. SOURCE:http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=ELLIEGOU14 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.174.41.161 (talk) 22:50, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

Vandalism warning

You do know that this edit was to the automated bot that was trying to wrap up the FAC on the article? Perhaps a nice polite note on the page would be better? (Btw, even if it was a vandal, it's unhelpful to jump straight to a level 4 warning as a first offence). - SchroCat (talk) 20:31, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

Taylor Swift

I deleted that picture because it was on her page twice with the exact same caption and everything. So maybe we should just have one copy of it on her page? Sorry, next time I'll put that in the summary.... --Divine618 (talk) 21:39, 13 March 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 March newsletter

A quick update as we are half way through round two of this year's competition. WikiCup newcomer Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions) (Pool E) leads, having produced a massive set of featured pictures for Silver certificate (United States), an article also brought to featured list status. Former finalist Oh, better far to live and die / Under the brave black flag I fly... Adam Cuerden (submissions) (Pool G) is in second, which he owes mostly to his work with historical images, including a number of images from Urania's Mirror, an article also brought to good status. 2010 champion (Pool C) is third overall, thanks to contributions relating to naval history, including the newly featured Japanese battleship Nagato. Rhodesia Cliftonian (submissions), who currently leads Pool A and is sixth overall, takes the title for the highest scoring individual article of the competition so far, with the top importance featured article Ian Smith.

With 26 people having already scored over 100 points, it is likely that well over 100 points will be needed to secure a place in round 3. Recent years have required 123 (2013), 65 (2012), 41 (2011) and 100 (2010). Remember that only 64 will progress to round 3 at the end of April. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page; if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Rebel Wilson

Hey, sorry I am not a regular on Misplaced Pages but I did see a clear mistake in Rebel Wilson's age. I booked her travel for Night At The Museum 3 and can confirm that her full name is Rebel Melanie Elizabeth Wilson and her birthdate is 02/03/1986. I have scan of passport but that would be unprofessional to release. Sorry for trouble. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.72.157.71 (talk) 22:00, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Need your help

Hello, IPadPerson,

I need some information from you. WP:VisualEditor (or Parsoid, which is its backend infrastructure) screwed up something when you made this edit. The developers are trying to figure out how to fix it, but (of course!) it works correctly for them. So could you tell me what kind of web browser and computer you're using for these edits? It would really help them narrow down the options. Thanks, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 22:21, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

I am using Mozilla Firefox on a Dell Inspiron One desktop computer.--IPadPerson (talk) 22:24, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll tell them to focus on Firefox for their testing. I assume that you're running Windows on your Dell, since that's what that model appears to ship with normally, but let me know if you're not. I really appreciate your quick response. Thanks again, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 00:37, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

Calvin Harris

Is the United Kingdom not a country and a sovereign state? --Erzan (talk) 03:25, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

The United Kingdom IS a country and Scotland is a part of it as its own country, and you have edit-warred over it on that article repeatedly after getting reverted. Do not violate the 3RR policy, or you may be blocked for doing so.--IPadPerson (talk) 11:31, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

If the United Kingdom is a country and a sovereign state, what is the problem with Calvin Harris wikipedia entry being edited according to his citizenship, country and sovereign-state? Which is the United Kingdom. The user SnapSnap has engaged in six edits, not made any attempts at discussing the issue and has yet received a warning. --Erzan (talk) 12:10, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

That user has told you that your addition of "United Kingdom" is potentially unconstructive and unhelpful. He does not need a warning for your vandalism that you commit. I reverted you twice for the exact same thing, and you're still edit warring. If you continue, you will see yourself blocked again.--IPadPerson (talk) 12:19, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm unclear how mentioning Dumfries, Scotland, UK on the Calvin Harris birth place is unconstructive and unhelpful? that would make many similar wikipedia entries which follow the same pattern (city, region, sovereign-state) unconstructive and unhelpful too. Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content, in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Misplaced Pages. Examples of typical vandalism are adding irrelevant obscenities and crude humor to a page, illegitimately blanking pages, and inserting obvious nonsense into a page. How is editing Calvin Harris location to Dumfries, Scotland, UK vandalism?

Is it not possible to have both Scotland and the UK mentioned? --Erzan (talk) 12:42, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

I feel I should comment: Scotland is a country, UK isn't so much a country as it is a union of countries. Scotland is part of the UK along with Wales, England, and Northern Ireland. This is why it is often ambiguous to call something "British". I would not include "UK" in ones birth location since it is not one country. XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 15:24, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
Hello, XXSNUGGUMSXX I am unsure how or where you have reached the conclusion that the UK is not a country. But every international and regional organisation recognises the UK (or formerly the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) as a country. For example the Olympics, UN, NATO, EU, WTO and OECED. I could cite many respected academic sources that describes the UK as a country and could easily list plenty of media articles from reputable media organisations from around the world that does. --Erzan (talk) 15:41, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

Moving "Kiss Me"

I saw the move and the reason, that I didn't quite understand, that "another Misplaced Pages page has the same song title", but I don't see that page or a dab that was constructed to deal with that. Care to explain, on the article's talk page? Walter Görlitz (talk) 06:10, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

If you have no further objections, I will be moving the article back shortly. Walter Görlitz (talk) 07:31, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Edit summaries again

IPadPerson, I know you don't like hearing about this, but please take more caution with your edit summaries. This can easily come off as an insult. The content itself you edit is generally fine outside of arbitrary tagging, though you do need to pay close attention to how you use edit summaries. XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 18:07, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

AfD noinclude

Hi, just a minor issue, but when nominating an article for deletion, please don't wrap the AfD template in noinclude tags, as you did here. The noinclude option is designed to be used primarily for TfDs. If you put the AfD template in noinclude tags, the closing script will fail to work. Thanks, King of 02:31, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 April newsletter

Round 3 of the 2014 WikiCup has just begun; 32 competitors remain. Pool G's Oh, better far to live and die / Under the brave black flag I fly... Adam Cuerden (submissions) was Round 2's highest scorer, with a large number of featured picture credits. In March/April, he restored star charts from Urania's Mirror, lithographs of various warships (such as SMS Gefion) and assorted other historical media. Second overall was Pool E's Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions), whose featured list Silver certificate (United States) contains dozens of scans of banknotes recently promoted to featured picture status. Third was Pool G's United States ChrisGualtieri (submissions) who has produced a large number of good articles, many, including Falkner Island, on Connecticut-related topics. Other successful participants included Rhodesia Cliftonian (submissions), who saw three articles (including the top-importance Ian Smith) through featured article candidacies, and Washington, D.C. Caponer (submissions), who saw three lists (including the beautifully-illustrated list of plantations in West Virginia) through featured list candidacies. High-importance good articles promoted this round include narwhal from Canada Reid, iain james (submissions), tiger from Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) and The Lion King from Minas Gerais Igordebraga (submissions). We also saw our first featured topic points of the competition, awarded to Nepal Czar (submissions) and Indiana Red Phoenix (submissions) for their work on the Sega Genesis topic. No points have been claimed so far for good topics or featured portals.

192 was our lowest qualifying score, again showing that this WikiCup is the most competitive ever. In previous years, 123 (2013), 65 (2012), 41 (2011) or 100 (2010) secured a place in Round 3. Pool H was the strongest performer, with all but one of its members advancing, while only the two highest scorers in Pools G and F advanced. At the end of June, 16 users will advance into the semi-finals. She Looks So Perfect

you have got to be kidding me 5 Seconds of Summer is nothing close to pop punk do you even listen to pop-punk? The wonder years, the story so far, all time low, neck deep, man overboard, blink-182 5sos sounds NOTHING like those bands, especially that song it has NO PUNK INFLUENCE WHATSOEVER i will defend pop-punk!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.189.29.198 (talk) 04:42, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

look i'm not even saying they're a bad band or anything, they're really talented and they play actual instruments and write their own songs. but their sound is more pop/rock like hot chelle rae, allstar weekend, etc. just because they cite blink 182 and all time low as influences doesn't make them pop-punk, they legit sound nothing like those bands! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.189.29.198 (talk) 04:49, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

You definitely need to stop personal attacking me and edit warring before I have to report you to ANI. You are probably not that familiar with them and carelessly removed the genre from the She Looks So Perfect article without an explanation. I suggest that you listen closely to more of their music before you carelessly remove genres, as "pop punk" was still on the band's Misplaced Pages article. IPadPerson (talk) 10:34, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

I'm not personally attacking you, I'm just stating facts. I've listened to their earlier stuff before, I knew about them for about a year now, since before they were famous. Don't assume. SOME of their early songs had pop-punk style in it, gearing more towards the pop side. but she's so perfect, not just the song but the EP itself, is so far-stretched from pop-punk music. And I'm NOT saying they are a bad band, okay they're good, they're really talented, but you can't just throw them into a genre simply because they were influenced by those kind of bands. --24.189.29.198 (talk) 06:10, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Cavallari picture

Adding images to an article help it. The image is of her pregnant with her second child and it's a recent picture from this year. There is a section in her article about her motherhood, so that is a perfect image for it. Natalie Portman is a good article and has an image of her pregnant with her child. LADY LOTUSTALK 20:23, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

Platinum (Miranda Lambert album)

Mind telling me why you think it's not notable? Upcoming albums are considered notable if there is sufficient verifiable information on them. This article has sources verifying the release date and track listing, and its lead single is in the Top 5 of a major Billboard chart. Ten Pound Hammer00:43, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

  • My bad, I didn't look closely enough. The existing sources were all WP:PRIMARY. I added a secondary source verifying the release date, and sources verifying that "Automatic" is on five major charts. Ten Pound Hammer00:48, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Adding notes and insufficient edit summaries

Hi, Firstly, thank you for the excellent work you have been doing. I have two things to bring up with you if I may?

  1. Notes like this would be seen as disruptive as there have been no issues with genres in the last few days. Hidden notes should ALWAYS be kept to a MINIMUM as they can become annoying and redundant.
  2. When you leave an edit summary, can you please try and be a bit more detailed. For example instead of just saying "Note" say something like "adding hidden note about genres due to recent edits/vandalism".

This helps others to work out useful edits from useless ones. Many thanks. → Lil-℧niquԐ 1 - { Talk } - 21:55, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

Removal of navigation templates

Why did you do this?—Kww(talk) 14:03, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Because the article on the celebrity had 292,069 views in the past 30 days and the article on the boxer only had 1,147 views in the past 30 days. When you type the first four letters of the celebrity's name, his name is the fourth that comes up and the Australian boxer does not come up unless you type its full name and gives you two options, since the celebrity is more well-known than the boxer. IPadPerson (talk) 14:38, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
"The Australian boxer does not come up unless you type its full name" is precisely why we have those links. When people don't arrive at the article they want, they get a pointer to the article that they do want. Don't remove such links in the future.—Kww(talk) 14:51, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 June newsletter

After an extremely close race, Round 3 is over. 244 points secured a place in Round 4, which is comparable to previous years- 321 was required in 2013, while 243 points were needed in 2012. Pool C's Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions) was the round's highest scorer, mostly due to a 32 featured pictures, including both scans and photographs. Also from Pool C, Scotland Casliber (submissions) finished second overall, claiming three featured articles, including the high-importance Grus (constellation). Third place was Pool B's , whose contributions included featured articles Russian battleship Poltava (1894) and Russian battleship Peresvet. Pool C saw the highest number of participants advance, with six out of eight making it to the next round.

The round saw this year's first featured portal, with Republic of Rose Island Sven Manguard (submissions) taking Portal:Literature to featured status. The round also saw the first good topic points, thanks to Florida 12george1 (submissions) and the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season. This means that all content types have been claimed this year. Other contributions of note this round include a featured topic on Maya Angelou's autobiographies from Idaho Figureskatingfan (submissions), a good article on the noted Czech footballer Tomáš Rosický from Bartošovice v Orlických horách Cloudz679 (submissions) and a now-featured video game screenshot, freely released due to the efforts of Republic of Rose Island Sven Manguard (submissions).

The judges would like to remind participants to update submission pages promptly. This means that content can be checked, and allows those following the competition (including those participating) to keep track of scores effectively. This round has seen discussion about various aspects of the WikiCup's rules and procedures. Those interested in the competition can be assured that formal discussions about how next year's competition will work will be opened shortly, and all are welcome to voice their views then. Good luck! DPL bot, in case you didn't know, when I cicked on fix with Dab solver, it says that the Toolserver was discontinued. Now, I will have to do so manually to the Savannah Guthrie article. Would you mind fixing the issue with the disambiguation fix page? IPadPerson (talk) 15:32, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Mind Yourself

Do not come to my talk page and litter it with irrelevant, poorly reviewed commentary. 3RR concerns continuous back and forth reverts between two parties, so you have no business cluttering my page with that. Accidentally reverting your correction, instead of restoring a previous version obviously does not fully constitute that. If I remember you have a block history, so I'd suggest you avoid harassing others pointlessly and mind your own editing habits. ––––Carmaker1 (talk) 15:05, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Didn't see that coming as an harassment. :( IPadPerson (talk) 15:25, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Can you change Ariana Grande's profile picture to Break Free? And how come you can edit Ariana's but I cannot? — Preceding unsigned comment added by IArianasPrivate (talkcontribs) 10:56 am, Today (UTC−4)

An infobox article of a BLP must contain an image of that person, not screenshots of album/song covers or music videos. The reason that you may not be able to edit Ariana's article is because you may not be an autoconfirmed user since the article currently allows only autoconfirmed users to edit. Juju Chang

Hello. You reverted out my addition to the caption of the infobox on Juju Chang as "redundant". Perhaps and seemingly so. But I was trying to clarify for whom she worked in 2007 when the photo was taken. There seems to be some murkiness in this information in the article itself. Been editing Misplaced Pages since January 2005. --- Wikiklrsc (talk) 23:41, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Oh. IPadPerson (talk) 23:48, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Miley Cyrus

The edits were previously reverted because some charities did not have Wiki pages and were thus considered non-notable. So I deleted them without a fuss. But most of the other charities that are included in the article have their Wiki pages and are therefore notable, and not applicable for deletion under WP:INDISCRIMINATE. Therefore they will not be deleted. Don't go around threatening to block me for verifiable edits. CyrockingSmiler (talk) 16:47, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

@CyrockingSmiler:: Please abide to the revert summaries and warnings that myself and User:Lady Lotus have inputed. Also, I am not an administrator. IPadPerson (talk)

I listen to Lady Lotus at once when he/she deletes my edits. I have followed every rule and deleted the charities when Lady Lotus told me to do so. But the rest of the charities have their own Misplaced Pages pages and have been included because they are notable. So how come some editors continue deleting them, even though they are notable? Your rollback request

Hi IPadPerson, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism, spam and blatantly unconstructive edits; using it to revert any other type of edit - such as by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with - can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning, as some admins do not warn if they become aware of any misuse. If you think an edit should require a reason for reverting, you should use a manual edit summary instead of the rollback tool. For practice, you may wish to review Misplaced Pages:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 14:47, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 August newsletter

The final of the 2014 WikiCup begins in a few short minutes! Our eight finalists are listed below, along with their placement in Round 4:

  1. Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions), a WikiCup newcomer, finished top of Pool A and was the round's highest scorer. Godot is a featured picture specialist, claiming large numbers of points due to high-quality scans of historical documents, especially banknotes.
  2. Scotland Casliber (submissions) is a WikiCup veteran, having been a finalist every year since 2010. In the semi-final, he was Pool B's highest scorer. Cas's points primarily come from articles on the natural sciences.
  3. Nepal Czar (submissions) was Pool A's runner-up. Czar's points come mostly from content related to independent video games, including both articles and topics.
  4. Oh, better far to live and die / Under the brave black flag I fly... Adam Cuerden (submissions) was Pool B's runner-up. Another featured picture specialist, many of Adam's points come from the restoration of historical media. He has been a WikiCup finalist twice before.
  5. Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) won the WikiCup in 2012 and 2013, and enters this final as the first wildcard. She focuses on biology-related articles, and has worked on several high-importance articles.
  6. Florida 12george1 (submissions) is the second wildcard. George's points come primarily from meteorology-related articles. This year and last year, George was the first person in the competition to score.
  7. Colorado Sturmvogel 66 (submissions), the third wildcard, was the 2010 champion and a finalist last year. His writes mostly on military history, especially naval history.
  8. Canada Bloom6132 (submissions), the fourth and final wildcard, has participated in previous WikiCups, but not reached any finals. Bloom's points are mostly thanks to did you knows, featured lists and good articles related to sport and national symbols.

We say goodbye to this year's semi-finalists. Herm Matty.007 (submissions), Ohio ThaddeusB (submissions), United States WikiRedactor (submissions), Idaho Figureskatingfan (submissions), Greece Yellow Evan (submissions), Portugal Prism (submissions) and Bartošovice v Orlických horách Cloudz679 (submissions) have all performed well to reach this stage of the competition, and we hope they will all be joining us again next year.

There are two upcoming competitions unrelated to the WikiCup which may be of interest to those who receive this newsletter. The Stub Contest will run through September, and revolves around expanding stub articles, especially high-importance or old stubs. In addition, a proposal has been made for a new competition, the GA Cup, which the organisers plan to run next year. This competition is based on the WikiCup and aims to reduce the good article review backlog.

There is now a thread for brainstorming on how next year's WikiCup competition should work. Please come along and share your thoughts- What works? What doesn't work? What needs changing? Signups for next year's competition will be open soon; we will be in touch. If, at this stage of the competition, you are keen to help the with the WikiCup, please do what you can to participate in review processes. Our finalists will find things much easier if the backlogs at good article candidates, featured article candidates, featured picture candidates and the rest are kept at a minimum. As ever, questions are welcome on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Twinkle question

Hello IPadPerson. I have heard that WP:Twinkle can generate 3RR reports, but have never tried doing that. Was your recent report at WP:AN3 made with Twinkle? If so could you link to how that is done? Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 21:14, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

@EdJohnston: Yes it was. The way to report edit warring using Twinkle is that you go to a user's page/contributions, fill out the information about where on Misplaced Pages is the edit warring escalating, and you must also include the reverts by the one you reported on that page. You may want to be more specific about it in the comment box. You then click Submit and it will automatically direct you to the 3RR noticeboard. IPadPerson (talk) 21:42, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. I can see the 3RR submission screen now. I assume 'Submit query' opens an actual report on the noticeboard? EdJohnston (talk) 04:04, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

@CambridgeBayWeather: I meant to request for a change in protection, but I didn't know it would end up in the reduction in protection section. IPadPerson (talk) 19:57, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
I take it you were looking for full protection then? I wouldn't go with that right now. They only added it once and you warned them. If they return then it could be reconsidered. CBWeather, Talk, Seal meat for supper? 20:02, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

I understand that the well-established fact about Hannah Davis & Derek Jeter that I posted days ago, and that you removed, does lack published sources, ones that I will be happy to add ASAP: Has been in a relationship with baseball legend Derek Jeter since 2012, including very public appearances along side him and his parents during his highly celebrated final career games in September 2014.

...BUT, can you please tell me why you considered the post so outrageously "derogatory" that you had to immediately threaten me--in my first-ever such scolding--with the following?: "This is your only warning; if you violate Misplaced Pages's biographies of living persons policy by inserting unsourced or poorly sourced defamatory content into an article or any other Misplaced Pages page again, as you did at Hannah Davis (model), you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Thanks for adding the note, but it's probably unnecessary. These are socks of JoMontNW and their interest in editing these articles is apparently a manifestation of OCD, not a sincere misunderstanding of the facts or of Misplaced Pages policies. Dwpaul 21:11, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Twitter as a source?

Hi,actually sometimes twitter can be used as a source. However it should be used as a reference as long as:

  • the material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim;
  • it does not involve claims about third parties;
  • it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the source;
  • there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity;
  • the article is not based primarily on such sources.

I'm posting this on your talk page because I thought you'd like to know more about using twitter as a source. But regarding the revertion you did at Lucy Hale you did the right thing. Because the linked profile says she lives in Tennessee not LA. As the article already states, she is a native of Tennessee and there is no indication of anything related moving out of Tennessee. And please make sure to assume good faiths. Cheers! --Chamith (talk) 16:47, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Beating Heart (song), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Zedd. Hi there! I noticed you reverted most (if not all) of the edits by 174.25.126.174‎ (talk · contribs · WHOIS). I am not arguing this, because I myself have found many of the edits to be questionable at best. What I am not sure if you are aware of, though, is that (I believe) this editor edits from a large number and large range of IP addresses. He is an extremely prolific editor, and I am not sure that he can be easily deterred. Just my 2 cents.--Logical Fuzz (talk) 21:21, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014: The results

The 2014 WikiCup champion is Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions), who flew the flag of the Smithsonian Institution. This was Godot13's first WikiCup competition and, over the 10 months of the competition, he has produced (among other contributions) two featured lists and an incredible 292 featured pictures, including architectural photographs and scans of historical documents. Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions), 2012 and 2013 WikiCup champion, came in second, having written a large number of biology-related articles. Scotland Casliber (submissions), WikiCup finalist every year since 2010, finished in third.

A full list of our prize-winners follows:

Congratulations to everyone who has been successful in this year's WikiCup, whether you made it to the final rounds or not, and a particular congratulations to the newcomers to the WikiCup who have participated this year. We warmly invite all of you to sign up for next year's competition. Discussions and polls concerning potential rules changes are also open, and all are welcome to participate. The WikiCup judges will be back in touch over the coming months, and we hope to see you all in the 2014 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. WikiCup 2015 is just around the corner...

Hello everyone, and may we wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2015 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. We have a few important announcements concerning the future of the WikiCup.

  • We would like to announce that Josh (J Milburn) and Ed (The ed17), who have been WikiCup judges since 2009 and 2010 respectively, are stepping down. This decision has been made for a number of reasons, but the main one is time. Both Josh and Ed have found that, over the previous year, they have been unable to devote the time necessary to the WikiCup, and it is not likely that they will be able to do this in the near future. Furthermore, new people at the helm can only help to invigorate the WikiCup and keep it dynamic. Josh and Ed will still be around, and will likely be participating in the Cup this following year as competitors, which is where both started out.
  • In a similar vein, we hope you will all join us in welcoming Jason (Sturmvogel 66) and Christine (Figureskatingfan), who are joining Brian (Miyagawa) to form the 2015 WikiCup judging team. Jason is a WikiCup veteran, having won in 2010 and finishing in fifth this year. Christine has participated in two WikiCups, reaching the semi-finals in both, and is responsible for the GA Cup, which she now co-runs.
  • The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. While it may be impossible to please everyone, the judges will make every effort to ensure that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Misplaced Pages.

If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Oh Land (album)

I noted your revert of my edit where you say "Source does not say such". If you click on the link provided in the article you can easily see that "executed" is misspelled as "excecuted". What is so hard to see about that? Please check the ref again and you will see that I am right. Just to make it easy for you, you can see the same link here. Then use ctrl-F to search for "excecuted". When you find it perhaps you will consider reverting your revert. I put the sic tag there so that people would realise that the misspelling was originated by the text in the ref and not by Misplaced Pages. Jodosma (talk) 12:27, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

Spark/Jessica Morgan

Hey there! I noticed that you have reverted my edit on The Family Jewels Tour article stating that the information I added was incorrect. Spark has very recently rebranded herself as Jessica Morgan, therefore I felt it was appropriate to include the name that she goes by now onto the article. I didn't want to merely replace "Spark" with "Jessica Morgan" as that was the stage name she went by at the time of the tour. I hope this clears up any confusion. =] Thanks, Jonny (talk) 23:53, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2015 launch newsletter

Round one of the 2015 WikiCup has begun! So far we've had around 80 signups, which close on February 5. If you have not already signed up and want to do so, then you can add your name here. There have been changes to to several of the points scores for various categories, and the addition of Peer Reviews for the first time. These will work in the same manner as Good Article Reviews, and all of the changes are summarised here.

Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round, and one of the new changes this year is that all scores must be claimed within two weeks of an article's promotion or appearance, so don't forget to add them to your submissions pages! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! Rollback

Hi IPadPerson. I believe I left a message here a few days ago cautioning you against improper use of the rollback feature, but it seems you removed it, grouping it with what you deemed "a bunch of shit". It is certainly your right to remove messages from your talk page, don't get me wrong, but I don't feel that was a kind remark to make about a good-faith warning. Also, it appears you have still been using rollback to revert constructive edits or edits that are not explicitly vandalism, such as here, here, here, and here.

I realize it can be frustrating when new, inexperienced editors add unsourced content or make formatting errors, but I'm sure it's equally frustrating for those editors when their work is removed with no explanation of what they did wrong. Per WP:Rollback#When to use rollback, the main use of rollback should be "to revert obvious vandalism and other edits where the reason for reverting is absolutely clear". In other instances, you should provide an edit summary explaining why certain edits are unhelpful, preferably with references to guidelines and policies.

Hello IPadPerson!

My apologies. I was simply trying to create a new category and put all the honorees of that category. No malice in mind...completely innocent editing...truly positive in my intent! My last edits on Umbrella (song) article

If you think that my changes on this article is vandalism or something, please write detailed explanation (item by item, line by line) what's wrong I doing. You can see my changes here (1) & here (2). Most last changes: I think that sources which I use is appropriate (link to video on YouTube (this link also in main Info box, i.e. appropriate), link to production company -> Nabil Mechi (official Web site, i.e. appropriate)). If link to Nabil Mechi is promotion than for example: link to official Rihanna web site on Rihanna article is promotion too. What's difference is?
P.S.: Umbrella (song) this is only 1 page when I editing encountered with so big resistange and mucks for editors. Υμβρελλα (talk) 23:49, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

@IPadPerson: You so …

Ehhh… lets I write list of my changes:

  1. Addition of “Rihanna Interviews” section. I absolutely NEVER saw any explanation about deletion of this. In this section I use not my words, only Rihanna's words.
  2. “Music video” section -> Addition of screenshot to Illustrate section. Without this screenshot section is less undersandable. + Early 2 editors tried to add different screenshots. First of these hung around ½ year.
  3. “Music video” section -> Addition of photo behind the scenes to Illustrate progress of silver paint painting.
  4. “Music video” section -> Addition of “Awards Table” I think that this table shold be in article cuz' video have 4 wins from 14 nominations. These numbers talks only about 1 think: video is one of the greatest videos of all time.
  5. ELs in Credits. Links to official sites of production companies which contain lists of creedits.
  6. Sentence about editor Nabil Mechi from Murex.
  7. Sentence about choreographer Tina Landon.
  8. Sentence about title “Orange Version”

Please explain step by step. I wrote this phrase cuz' you absolutely don't want to responce me.
P.S.: If again continue silence, I will think that you simply makes enemy from my and even I doing you will think that I want to vandalize article. Υμβρελλα (talk) 00:36, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

The article was only failed a week ago and it's been fully protected since then. The stability concerns have had no chance to be resolved and nowhere near enough time has passed since the last nomination. Sorry MaranoFan, but you should probably remove the nomination template before it gets quick-failed. Gloss 05:00, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
@Gloss: Hi, the only concern was an ongoing edit-war. It has resolved and the consensus is settled. As the failed GA template says, I can even seek an immediate reassessment if I think the article can easily pass. Since most concerns were addressed and there is no edit-war. I have decided to reinstate the GA template. Marano 05:04, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
There has been no time to prove that the edit war is over, regardless of a consensus. The article was just unprotected earlier today from a full protection. Gloss 05:28, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
As quickly as I said that, the edit warring is continuing. Gloss 05:34, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
@MaranoFan and Gloss: Then I guess it won't happen after all if the edit wars continue. IPadPerson (talk) 14:37, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
