Happy New Year Edwardx!

Happy New Year!

Edwardx,
Have a prosperous, productive and enjoyable New Year, and thanks for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. Zigzig20s (talk) 12:02, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

Send New Year cheer by adding {{subst:Happy New Year 2015}} to user talk pages.
Thank you. I'm sure 2015 will see us working together on many more articles. Edwardx (talk) 12:24, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
For sure. My keyboard is broken, so I will edit more as soon as I am operational again! Do add relevant WikiProjects if you can btw. Zigzig20s (talk) 15:36, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
Do we know Trevor Rees-Jones's children's names and what they do? Zigzig20s (talk) 11:54, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
I've expanded the article a bit (still has far too much about "philanthropy" and little about his career. I've added their names. In 2011, they were both TCU undergrads, so I imagine they are not (yet) doing anything of real notability. Edwardx (talk) 12:11, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
They might have been taught by friends of mine--it's a small world. If you can find anything about his religious affiliation/denomination, that'd be interesting too. (I really need to fix my keyboard lol.)Zigzig20s (talk) 12:17, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
Also his parents's names would be good. The genealogy of billionaires is often quite revealing, even though we pretend everyone is "self-made" lol (and he grew up in Highland Park of all places!). Zigzig20s (talk) 14:36, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
Not surprised that they are Presbyterians. I had created Highland Park's Presbyterian church because of Caroline Rose Hunt. Zigzig20s (talk) 12:13, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Interesting how these billionaires are connected, and how often they try to work together rather than compete. And as you suggest, many try to affect a self-made ordinary Joe persona. It worked pretty well for Dubya. Edwardx (talk) 12:25, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
We learn to play it down at boarding school. Is Caroline officially a billionaire?Zigzig20s (talk) 12:32, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Her only living sibling, William Herbert Hunt, is worth $2 billion, but it looks like she lost her billionaire status due to poor investments. However, I'm sure that she is far from poor. Edwardx (talk) 12:42, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Yes lol. I love hotels, so I find her interesting. FYI: this and this. btw, my understanding is that the Sands family that she married into are the namesakes of Sands Point, New York.Zigzig20s (talk) 13:05, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
Congratulations on joining the club Edward! 1000 articles of beer, ballet and billionaires. Here's to the next 1000. A chauffeur driven car has been sent to collect you for the initiation ceremony where you will learn the real purpose of Misplaced Pages and our plan for the new world order. Be ready. Philafrenzy (talk) 21:23, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
Thank you most kindly. No sign yet of the car, must be stuck in traffic. Edwardx (talk) 12:28, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Stay where you are and await our further instructions. Philafrenzy (talk) 13:59, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Congratulations from this weary thousand article keyboard warrior. In happier news, the aforementioned Maybach limousine has been impounded due to unpaid taxes. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 12:40, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
Oh well. Rumour has it there's a helicopter at 2000. Edwardx (talk) 13:46, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
Go to Waitrose, Edward, where one of our operatives will make himself known to you. Give him your password and he will show you the secret entrance to our underground compound. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:51, 9 January 2015 (UTC) for and on behalf of the Illuminati Tireless Contributors Society.
The Belgravia branch, I presume. Around the corner from Esmeralda's Barn. Edwardx (talk) 13:46, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
Of course. Who do you think really ran the barn, you didn't think it was the Krays did you? Philafrenzy (talk) 13:49, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

User:Zigzig20s/Anne Hendricks Bass

Hi again. If interested, feel free to help with my userpage at User:Zigzig20s/Anne Hendricks Bass until I move it to an article creation.Zigzig20s (talk) 16:31, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Added a bit more. Edwardx (talk) 19:01, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Also User:Zigzig20s/Gildo Pastor.Zigzig20s (talk) 17:58, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Not easily finding anything worth adding on Gildo. Edwardx (talk) 19:06, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
True; they are a bit of a mystery family. Do you speak French? Most sources are in French.Zigzig20s (talk) 19:11, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Up to a point. I'll try to look at the Pastors a bit more when I have time... Edwardx (talk) 13:19, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
Cool. I can type again, but I am moving, so not sure how much I'll be able to use the internet. It highly depends on many factors. Have a look at Orrin H. Ingram II and his family btw. Perhaps his wife could have a page.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:54, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Fascinating

Here you go Edward and @Philafrenzy:...OHMIGOD Gareth E Kegg (talk) 23:59, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

They make our articles seem boring. Philafrenzy (talk) 00:26, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
One of those links led me to Berners Street hoax, which is a most amusing hoax that I'd forgotten about. Yes, all my recent articles are rather boring. Edwardx (talk) 00:41, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Have you got Gareth's address? Philafrenzy (talk) 00:44, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Done. Edwardx (talk) 00:47, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. Now I've got 40 baby elephants backing down the road. Their sashes spell out the message 'Dating maintenance tags'. Cryptic. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 00:59, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Anders Holch Povlsen

I see you created redirects for his parents. Wouldn't they be sufficiently notable to have their own pages?Zigzig20s (talk) 18:19, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Great minds... I was just in the process of starting a page for his father, who is on Danish Misplaced Pages. Then I will do one for his mother - they co-founded Bestseller and are thus equally notable. And I will definitely be doing a DYK on the son, if you would like to add something and get a co-contributor credit. Edwardx (talk) 18:22, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
I just did. I wish the internet wasn't so terrible in this hotel though. Btw, the Glenfeshie Estate has quite a few google hits. Formerly owned by the Duke of Gordon, although we'd have to figure out which one.Zigzig20s (talk) 18:35, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Thank you once more. Yes, Glenfeshie looks article-worthy. Will try to find more time! Hope your hotel is good otherwise. Edwardx (talk) 18:51, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Hélène Pastor

Omg, this is stupid and annoying. That editor is focusing on gossip instead of what I tried to do--focus on her business career. Am I not allowed to comment on the deletion page because I created the article? It is especially stupid because while she looks sufficiently notable to have a start page, this could easily reach C status. The same deletion tactic could be applied to many articles you create--words fail me.Zigzig20s (talk) 10:08, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

You are allowed to comment as well. For such an experienced editor, they really are wrong on this one. Perhaps the best approach is to spend the time instead on improving the article. Others will come along to the AfD page and add their views, and I would be amazed if the article itself were to be deleted. I've also started a page for her son. With Amy Pascal as well, you do seem to be unlucky in attracting the wrong sort of editor! My latest aggravation, Talk:Steve Mogford is quite mild in comparison. Edwardx (talk) 10:23, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
Well, the thing is I don't have good access to the internet at all right now. Perhaps some of those buildings she owned should have a page already--I was going to create them, but obviously Misplaced Pages is a work in progress. There are also books I want to look at to find more references, about the Pastor family and other key players of Monaco history. I don't understand why the editor wants to focus on her murder instead of her life achievements. Then again, the murder is part of her story--it should not be redacted.Zigzig20s (talk) 10:56, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
There are so many articles that we could create, which is probably why I try to encourage other people to join in with articles I've started. The Pastors seem to have been able to maintain a very low profile until the murder. However, a low public profile is in itself no bar to notability in Misplaced Pages terms. Funny how some billionaires want to keep their wealth very quiet, whereas Al-Waleed bin Talal sued Forbes for under-reporting his. Edwardx (talk) 11:07, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
Please try to expand it more if you can. I am unable to do a better google search right now; the internet is as slow as 1995 here. (It was already slow when I created it--that's why I couldn't load more online articles to use as references--but this is far worse.) More info will come from books, but that will have to wait a bit. Yes, they're private, but contrary to the media, I have tried to add only fact-based info, nothing slanderous. So they shouldn't complain. They are part of Monaco's history. When I have better internet, I will try to add more about their philanthropic engagements as well. I believe the Middle Eastern billionaires are more vulgar in their access to resources (that's very clear in Mayfair or even Holmby Hills for example),but they are usually friendly and fun to go clubbing with lol. I agree with you that the collaborative process of Misplaced Pages is good--when our internet works fine.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:24, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
There are also Misplaced Pages editors who are against content about so-called "luxury" and the "elite." Most Misplaced Pages editors are left-wing apparently. But I think as long as the content is fact-based, there should be no problem with that--Misplaced Pages should reflect the world as it really is, not some left-leaning ideology about "activists." Luckily, you seem to agree with me on this. I think it explains a lot about some deletion proposals.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:30, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
If you know anyone who has an online subscription to The Times, she had an obituary there, but I am only able to read the beginning (which I in-lined).Zigzig20s (talk) 13:26, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
I've a friend who I think is still a subscriber - I'll ask. Misplaced Pages leans left and libertarian, and broadly speaking, so do I. My guess is that if you write about business and the (super) rich, too many editors have a knee-jerk response that your some sort of shill for them or getting paid. Not me. I just think this sort of stuff is far more important and interesting than pop culture, sport and such like. Edwardx (talk) 00:14, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Well, polo is an interesting sport I think! I wish I'd not started editing about the antisemitic attack in Paris, it's attracting some weirdos. But I felt I had to. Hopefully I can get out of this new situation and re-focus on fun topics. OK, time to go to the beach...Zigzig20s (talk) 00:56, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
A fellow Wikipedian has kindly sent me the Times obituary, so I will see what we can add from it. Polo was the last sporting event I've been to (free tickets). I spent wasted a lot of time on Template:Did you know nominations/One Million Plan, trying to fight anti-semitism. Alas, there are certain areas of Misplaced Pages where one can expend a huge amount of effort for little or no return. The beach sounds a much better plan. Edwardx (talk) 12:22, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Where was the polo match, if I may? I have created some pages about polo clubs, for example the Perth Polo Club when I was there a few months ago (and the Will Rogers Polo Club earlier). That's another topic that needs huge expansion--most high-goalers don't have a page, whereas minor/local football players all do lol.Zigzig20s (talk) 12:41, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
It was "Polo in the Park" in Hurlingham Park. Local residents received free tickets. Also the venue for Upper Class Twit of the Year. Edwardx (talk) 13:22, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
George Meyrick and Max Charlton--very good. You could try to go to (free) weekly matches at the Ham Polo Club.Zigzig20s (talk) 05:50, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I do remember that we saw some of the world's top players, but it all rather washed over me. Not a good enough rider to play myself. And then there's the expsense of keeping a string of ponies. Maybe I'll cycle down to Ham in the summer. Edwardx (talk) 10:47, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
I don't play, just go to matches. The Guards Polo Club is amazing, but far to get to (perhaps on purpose). Anyway, lots of polo clubs should have a page on Misplaced Pages--I may work on that later. No internet in my new hotel room, so I won't do that now! Do keep me posted about the Pastors, etc.Zigzig20s (talk) 22:26, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for creating Jean-Baptiste Pastor. I think I may have his year of death in a file I prepared on my other laptop. I will have to double-check.Zigzig20s (talk) 01:40, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
Btw, the CEOs and Chairmen of the Societe des bains de mer de Monaco (SBM) are probably all notable as well. If you don't get around to that, I will once my internet connection is less iffy.Zigzig20s (talk) 01:43, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
Hi again. Would you mind adding in-line references at the end of each sentence for JB Pastor please? I know it isn't an absolute requirement, but I really find this very useful when we expand pages. Otherwise, we don't always know which reference applies to what. Btw, I find non-Western billionaires a bit boring--my lecturers of post-colonialism must have done a very bad job!Zigzig20s (talk) 03:39, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
Agreed - having each sentence referenced does make expansion easier. I'm generally pretty thorough about referencing, but there's always room to do better. Yes, I also have a pro-Western bias. Of course, there is usually much more written about them, so creating decent articles is easier and more interesting. However, I've decided it would be more objective to start at the top of the Forbes list and work my way down filling in all of the gaps regardless. Reached #368 and 4.1 billion so far. Edwardx (talk) 12:14, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
Good. Then we can expand through their family members, philanthropic engagements, etc. If you have time to create a page about the Mansour Group btw, that'd be good. (For the refs, I meant this. Btw, Helen Pastor has been saved!) Zigzig20s (talk) 00:42, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
As Helene was an easy keep in the end, the other Pastors should hopefully avoid AfD. You're right about the refs - I'll try to fix them later. And maybe start Mansour Group. Edwardx (talk) 10:12, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
Yes, most of them are notable.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:07, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Le Mirabeau

Feel free to expand it. Not sure if the Barclay brothers still own it, or if they owned the hotel and then sold the building when it was turned into a residential building. Interesting to note that the CREM is headquartered there. Occasionally, I hear about their philanthropic events.Zigzig20s (talk) 23:41, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Something strange is that the Wikimedia Commons picture says it was taken in 1969, and yet the building was only completed in 1973 apparently. Either Emporis is wrong, or the Commons uploader is. Probably the latter.Zigzig20s (talk) 23:45, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
Looking good. I'm working on Gildo Pastor. Edwardx (talk) 00:05, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Le Schuylkill

Please expand if possible. This picture could be added as long as the photographer is mentioned; I don't know how to do this on Wikimedia Commons--do you? Zigzig20s (talk) 03:10, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Thanks. Not done it before either, but there is guidance at Misplaced Pages:Upload/Flickr. Alas, the license for that image is not ok for Misplaced Pages. The page suggests contacting the photographer to release it under a free license, but I guess that's a long shot. By the way, I've just started Victor Pastor. Edwardx (talk) 10:53, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
I saw. I don't think we should confuse his life achievements and his sons'. Frankly most members of this family are notable to have their own pages. Btw, born in 1936 or 1937?? And yes, both the Sporting Monte-Carlo and Jimmy'z need a page. Really strange that Monaco is so underrepresented on Misplaced Pages. Btw, I was surprised to find out Pearson lived in Monaco--I know of him through polo at Cowdray. There may be more to this.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:08, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Agreed. The stuff about his sons is more of a temporary parking action until there are separate pages for them. In my opinion, being a billionaire, if only through inheritance, is notable. I'll double-check his birth year. Yes, plenty that can be done on Monaco. Edwardx (talk) 12:27, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
I agree. You could also create a userpage until the page is neater and you can move it to a proper article, as I did with the Bass divorcee. I'm sure eventually it will lead to a good article.Zigzig20s (talk) 22:42, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

DYK rules

The rule about newly designated good articles being eligible is at 1g here. I think I possibly saw something about new featured articles having the same treatment but that point seems academic. Philafrenzy (talk) 21:10, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Just noticed that Demob suit got around 19K views! Imagine what it would have got if they had used the pic. Philafrenzy (talk) 14:41, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
I've not started on trying to identify a potential GA candidiate yet, but I will. Eventually. 19K is most impressive. Edwardx (talk) 14:51, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
There is a very interesting angle to it in all the great British comedians that started their career after they were demobbed and their badly fitting suits - Norman Wisdom, Frankie Howerd, Tommy Cooper and others I am sure. The disheveled suit became part of the act. Misplaced Pages, however, is probably not the place to explore that in detail. Philafrenzy (talk) 14:58, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
As long as you can find stuff that satisfies WP:RS, I think you could continue expanding the section in your article, and perhaps one day spin it off. Or just write a book! Edwardx (talk) 12:18, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
I have written a book! It's in 1000 chapters here. Some things are not a natural fit on Misplaced Pages, like Poverty in Cyprus. The role of the suit in the performance style of British post-war comedians may be another. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:33, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
Have you had any Top Totty recently? Philafrenzy (talk) 13:07, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
I wish. Perhaps we'll find some in the Penderel's Oak next month? Reviewing Poverty in Cyprus was a mistake; much better to stick with the low-hanging fruit on DYK. Edwardx (talk) 13:23, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
I have realised that under the new rules you can take your time polishing a DYK article as it doesn't go anywhere until you add a review. Philafrenzy (talk) 13:30, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

Jewish names

Could you look at this re Jewish naming conventions and Anglicisations: Moïse Levy de Benzion? Philafrenzy (talk) 15:17, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Tweaked it very slightly. Looks okay to me. Edwardx (talk) 16:10, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. Philafrenzy (talk) 16:17, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Archival

Hi! Would it be possible for you to perhaps set up automatic archiving on your talk page? It's getting a bit long (345 kB of wikitext), and the reason I'm putting this message here is that it's so long my bot coughed and died on it. APerson (talk!) 22:35, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Scrolling to the bottom of this page must be what death feels like. Philafrenzy (talk) 23:13, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
Okay, okay! Thank you all for prompting me (yet again). I've just set up MiszaBot. Starting at Archive 5 (3 and 4 do exist somewhere, but I've temporarily lost them). Edwardx (talk) 00:03, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Jean-Baptiste Pastor

Hello! Your submission of Jean-Baptiste Pastor at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Hirolovesswords (talk) 00:50, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

Jacques Pastor

Check this out, a town councillor for the city of Monaco. Are you able to figure out who he is in the family tree please?Zigzig20s (talk) 06:51, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

Interesting. Alas, no luck so far. He was head of mission for the Monaco Winter Olympic team in 2006 and 2010. On the Council, "Responsibilities: Municipal Department of Sport and Sports Establishments". The Commune That's it so far. Yes, we need to expand the family tree! Edwardx (talk) 07:32, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
This one is a mystery so far.Zigzig20s (talk) 14:27, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

DYK for Anders Holch Povlsen

Updated DYK queryOn 28 January 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Anders Holch Povlsen, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Danish retail billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen is the second largest private landowner in Scotland? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Anders Holch Povlsen. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:08, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

Troels Holch Povlsen

Yes, as it currently stands the article is not independently notable. Most references refer to the son, not the parents. GiantSnowman 19:58, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

I have to disagree. And the argument that most of the references are to the son is very weak. Redirecting the article to Bestseller (company) without attempting to merge any of the content to there or to the son's article just strikes me as lazy editing. As I said in my summary, there has been an article on Danish Misplaced Pages since 2009, with far less content and references than on English WP. Alas, I don't read Danish, but I will try to find more content. Edwardx (talk) 20:05, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
The article looks perfectly notable to me. He is the co-founder and director of a publicly listed corporation.Zigzig20s (talk) 07:50, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Ian Farquhar?

Hi again. I am trying to figure out if this man should have a page and what his relation to the Farquhar baronets might be. Any idea?Zigzig20s (talk) 16:41, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

If you can find another reliable source then I guess he could pass muster, but I'd say he's marginal. Personally, I've too many billionaires to add! Edwardx (talk) 12:41, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
Traditional hunts are really underrepresented on Misplaced Pages. Lots of lost/dying history to unearth. (Btw, Tatler tells us this man's daughter is Pippa's boyfriend's ex lol.) I'd be interested in creating more pages about London buildings/churches btw. (I have now created Emmanuel Church, West Hampstead for example.)Zigzig20s (talk) 14:40, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Times Rich List

Hello again. Have you been using Forbes or the Times Rich List? Any idea where we could get the TRL? I am back in London and could perhaps find it in a public library, but I am not sure which day it was published and where they would have it. I know some libraries keep all former issues of The Times...Zigzig20s (talk) 12:22, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Started with Sunday Times Rich List, but once all the "missing" billionaires from there were on WP, I moved on to Forbes. STRL is printed annually in a magazine format. Think it came out in two parts in 2014 - 11 and 18 May. I have a paper copy of the 18 May part (114 pages). It has details of the top 1,000, with an alphabetical index. All it seems to be missing is the bios of numbers 26-100, instead just the names and net wealth for each. So, I can probably answer any questions. Remeber, STRL is just for Britain and Ireland, but includes foreigners who are deemed to live here. Anything particular I can help on? Edwardx (talk) 12:39, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
I'd like to read it, especially now that I've moved back. (Not sure how long I will stay if there are no jobs, but that's another topic.) It may prove useful to improve/create pages about polo patrons for example. Do you think the British Library would have it?Zigzig20s (talk) 14:30, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
Welcome back! If you're here in London next Sunday, 8 February, I can lend you my copy at the meet-up. I'm sure the British Library would have one, but best to check ahead and order it, so they will have it ready for your arrival. Edwardx (talk) 14:41, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
Idk. I am shy?Zigzig20s (talk) 18:44, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
The shy and socially awkward are the norm at meet-ups! Edwardx (talk) 00:56, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
Sometimes we spend the whole meeting in complete silence staring at the floor. Philafrenzy (talk) 20:24, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
Then sudddenly, after about two pints, the first murmurings... I go along just to feel vaguely normal. Seriously, it surprises me how many people bring along laptops, even though the wifi there is terrible. Edwardx (talk) 21:05, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
It's fine if you want to demonstrate something but I agree there's not much point going then spending all your time tapping away. Philafrenzy (talk) 21:23, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
Who chose the location and why? I have never been to that part of London, although it is close to Soho apparently.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:47, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
The first meetup there was in 2004. It's close to Holborn tube on the Central and Piccadilly lines. That was probably the reason. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:08, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Convenience. Large pub, so never too crowded. Inexpensive (for central London). No music. Even if they show sport on the TV screens, it is without sound. Good beer. Zero history or "character", but something has to give! Edwardx (talk) 12:20, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
I resent you saying that we have no character Edward. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:28, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Characters certainly, "Phil". Alas the pub itself is somewhat soulless when we are not present. Edwardx (talk) 13:11, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Please explain how you know what it is like when we are not present. Indeed, I have no reason to believe that the pub even exists when we are not there. Answer with reference to German philosophy. Philafrenzy (talk) 14:45, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

Grand Hotel National

Fancy hotels seems like the sort of thing you might be interested in? Especially those based in Switzerland. Philafrenzy (talk) 20:24, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Went to a medical conference in Luzern in 2001. Unlikely that I stayed in that hotel. Yes, I should be interested in hotels, but the only two hotel articles that I've started are really pubs. Will have a look. Edwardx (talk) 21:15, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
Lucerne has little. It could be done like London, streets, monuments etc. Grand hotels definitely have a history - famous people who stayed there etc. Philafrenzy (talk) 21:25, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
Phil, I am interested in hotels too. (I created the Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel for example--another editor said he would add a picture soon.) Edward, how do you know when a pub is sufficiently notable to have its own page? I was at The Churchill Arms last night--would it be notable? Zigzig20s (talk) 08:46, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Almost all of the pubs that I have created articles for have been on the basis that they were listed buildings. But not all, such as my "local", the Bricklayer's Arms, Putney. I'm sure that you can find plenty about the Churchill in reliable sources. It may well have won some awards. It has a great collection of Winston Churchill memorabilia and was one of the first in London to serve now ubiquitous Thai food, and it might one day be notable for having been my local when I lived round the corner for a few years (ha ha). Edwardx (talk) 09:21, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
It should be a listed building. However, there is Grade I listed buildings in Kensington and Chelsea and Grade II* listed buildings in Kensington and Chelsea, but not Grade II listed buildings in Kensington and Chelsea...It might be listed as Grade II. I should add that I am more interested in historic church buildings than pubs.Zigzig20s (talk) 09:34, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Grade II is about 95% of all listed buildings, so for Kensington and Chelsea it would be a huge list. Find a postcode (eg the Churchill's W8 7LN) and try National Heritage List for England Map Search to get an idea. There are plenty of listed churches in London without articles. Edwardx (talk) 10:04, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
I asked. It could be broken up in several lists as was done with Brighton.Zigzig20s (talk) 10:31, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Keep asking/prodding. And no one is stopping you from starting a list! I tried for Hammermith and Fulham, but quickly gave up. Edwardx (talk) 12:23, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

Baron Vestey and his family

Hi. Are you interested in working on the Baron Vesteys? See Samuel Vestey, 3rd Baron Vestey: "Lord Vestey, along with his brother Edmund Vestey, are worth £1.2 billion according to the Sunday Times Rich List 2013". I suppose that must make him a billionaire in US dollars. His father's page needs to be created. More needs to be added about their meat/station investments in Australia. Also his wife's name and children, etc. I have actually seen one of his grandsons or grandnephews play polo at Guards.Zigzig20s (talk) 14:06, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Yes. Just given the article little whack with my mallet. My string of ponies is well-rested. Let the first chukka begin! I shall have more time later today. Edwardx (talk) 14:19, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
Sounds good. I'll wait for you to create his father's page and expand the others too, and then I'll add more about polo from Horace Laffaye's books.Zigzig20s (talk) 14:21, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Template:Did you know nominations/John Shannon Munn

Edwardx, I was wondering whether you could revisit this review and possibly approve one of the most recent hooks. Obviously, you can't approve any of the ones you wrote yourself, but the nominator seems to like one of the two recently proposed by Fuebaey. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:35, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Leon Max

Is he on the Times Rich List?Zigzig20s (talk) 22:58, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

Yes, #251, with £400m. Just two sentences. Only thing not in the article is that he is/was 60. I'll bring the List along for you on Sunday! Edwardx (talk) 00:40, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
Can you please add an in-line reference? I am not sure yet if I will be able to make it on Sunday. Btw, should I created the 2nd Vestey, or will you do it?Zigzig20s (talk) 14:12, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
Cite added to Leon Max. Samuel Vestey, 2nd Baron Vestey started. I'll bring the Rich List along anyway. Don't worry if you can't make it on Sunday, there are usually at least a a dozen of us and always plenty to talk about. Edwardx (talk) 00:41, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
I might go but: 1) It's in Holborn and I'll probably have to take a taxi to find it. 2) I don't know if you're 80-year-old Huguette or 26-year-old Hugo lol.Zigzig20s (talk) 01:11, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
My real name is Edward (and by the way, Phil is not Phil) and my age lies right in between those two numbers. Edwardx (talk) 01:17, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Secrets revealed lol! How close are you to Hugo or Huguette? Are you in your forties? Zigzig20s (talk) 01:23, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
40s - quite recently, but alas no more. Edwardx (talk) 01:34, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
A fortysomething who likes Hélène Pastor...family?Zigzig20s (talk) 02:08, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Per WP:OUTING "attempted outing is grounds for an immediate block.". I would encourage Zigzig20s not to ask, and Edwardx not to reply. —Sladen (talk) 09:55, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Andrew Law (financier)

You may find this interesting. I am trying to find his e-mail address to see if he'd like me to take his picture and add it to his article. For some reason, Caxton Associates does not have an e-mail address... I think it would be a little strange to call them.Zigzig20s (talk) 16:35, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

And also John Griffin (businessman)...Zigzig20s (talk) 19:40, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
More great work. I've not thought of asking to take photos for BLPs I've started - I'm intrigued to see if such an approach yields results! Edwardx (talk) 00:45, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Thank you. I e-mailed a Conservative politician about that yesterday and did not get a reply. His staff is probably not interested...Zigzig20s (talk) 01:09, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
