OK, that was badly late. I figured out and put this up, ] - and we won't be able to make it without you, because it is a damn long list, and Adam is not around for same reason. You were a great help until now and you pulled the hard weight in the last couple editions. I want you to do some things now - redact. We are in a hurry. Do work on a bit on the text before you add - because it will be double work if y¨not. Don't just copy and paste the lead, because we are not supposed to do that, we should use the text to write up a summary... if you do so, it will just have to be rewritten. Even if you do that... just try to avoid taking every thing that is not relevant, like pronunciation several name varieties and other thing that usually clutter up leads, because we have to remove that anyway. Try to remove them from the beginning ... we have to be fast and efficient - it is a scary long list. We have to work fast and concentrated otherwise we will be late... And thanks again in all the valuable work you put down on the Signpost. Go, go, go, - copy your work before save - we are likely to hit a lot of edit conflicts. ] (]) 15:26, 21 February 2015 (UTC) |

Purr Lexus - The most beautiful girl in the world
DOB 6/18/1996 - DOD 1/5/2015 - 9:28am. Rest in Peace little girl.
I hope no one minds. I would like to tell the story of my little girl Purr Lexus. I had spent the 1995 football season with the SF 49ers. The project was over and I moved back to So Cal. My salt water fish tank had broken and I was forced to give/trade for credit my sea life at Sand Bar pets. A year later, a young lady I was with convinced me that my home, over the San Clemente pier, "needed a kitty". I tried to resist and ended up at that same pet store a few hours later. I saw a lot of domestic cats and, in a special cage right up front were 2 little fuzz balls. I opened the door and said to myself, lets see if either of these two have any love. In seconds she had climbed into my hand curled up and just started purring like no cat I have ever seen. I was smitten and asked about the price and my pending credit.
Well she was a pure bred 900 dollar kitty, trying to put her down she would have nothing to do with it. I paid the balance and she went home in my lap, just the way she left us today purring all the way. The last few weeks have been hard, it was clear she was not doing well and when she stopped eating Friday, I knew it was time for her to go. We spent most of the weekend just cuddling and with her on my chest. She had a extremely advanced cancer and there was no hope for any type of recovery. Her entire life she had know nothing other then love and pampering, I treated her like the princess she was and always will be to me. She out lived many of my friends and family and I know that her pain is over, and she departed this world, in my hands just the way she came to me. Nothing but love to her final moments. I can not say that I have ever had anything for 20 years, much less a sweetheart like her. Good bye girl your forever a giant piece of my heart. I love you!

Adding pictures to Manhattan
First, your image alignment is wrong. It should probably go in the Culture or Landmarks sections, not the Demographics section; it will otherwise be taken out of context, especially in a printed version of the article. Second, we don't need many more images. While your additions are appreciated, it will be best if you leave this image out for now. (Also, just because the image was taken in Manhattan does not automatically mean that it should be in that article.) Epicgenius (talk) 19:21, 11 December 2014 (UTC) These are, as you have seen some of my first contributions to the area
- Thank you for the communication. I can appreciate that the page has a lot of images and after a review of the page and the area, I added it feeling that it was of a high enough quality that it enhanced the story. Regarding its placement that is IMHO a matter of interpretation, and I respect yours. If you would like to suggest a batter location, or perhaps a picture that is nominal or "past its prime" (dated) and replace the older photo with this one, its your call. Cheers! talk→ WPPilot 19:34, 11 December 2014 (UTC)
- Sure. Probably, from the sections selected above, I'd say "Architecture", since it is a short-range cityscape from midtown Manhattan (as opposed to a view from afar). I think it should be a thumbnail, though. Epicgenius (talk) 19:40, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

Naming issues
Forgive me; I always try to credit people as they've indicated, but I've forgotten if you're one of the photographers who has a real name I should credit them with in the Signpost, or one of the ones who prefers to be pseudonymous. It's easy to forget as some photographers only started using their real names after a while of pseudonymity, so older works being promoted don't always show it.
Of course, either is fine, I just want to get it right for your preferences. Adam Cuerden 05:12, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

FD Pic
Hi, Actually it is NOT an modern FD the boat is NOT well sailed. It is NOT a good action shot but a pic of a cruising FD almost in trouble. It does NOT advertise the FD specially if you consider that this boat was build in the Olympic era of the FD. It does NOT reflect the high standards of that time. The other 3 pics does reflect there time period.
The pic with the green kite is one of a recent boat (this century and well sailed (like the other two).
I am in favor of an many pics as possible. But this one should not lead. If there is a better one okay.
Regards_/)_/)_/) ˷˷˷˷˷˷˷˷ _/) NED33 21:59, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
While that was the first time that boat was sailed in years, and you are no doubt correct on its not being well sailed, (it was in fact frozen in time with OEM rigging from Mader (1992) intact), I have a LOT of great shots, from the last 2 years of the same boat after it was totally redone. If you are the skipper of NED 33 PLEASE by all means post something current, but the fact is that Mader, has not in any way changed the mold, on this boat, and the boat you get from them today has only a few changes from that boat.: http://www.mader-boote.de/neue-boote/flying-dutchman-fd/ 1488 was rerigged just after this shot. talk→ WPPilot 22:04, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
- I'm skipper of NED 33 but not an FD anymore. My FD was NED 17 in the 80s (Kurt Hein). The late 60 boat pic was also a Mader and the 21 century as well. The Early 60 a Dusseldorp. Maybe the mould of Mader is not changed since 1990 but the layout definitely did in 25 years time. Also cruising FD pics are okay since it is also a wonderfull boat to cruise. But if you are looking for an well sailed FD leading picture (recent and probable Mader as well please look at this type of pictures:-) https://fdworlds2015.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/10405271_800578310011796_6517759723536759757_n.jpg
Sorry If I have offended you. That is never my intention. Again I am not against more pictures. It would be nice If the gallery really represent the development of the FD over the years. Regards _/)_/)_/) ˷˷˷˷˷˷˷˷ _/) NED33 22:18, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
- No offence taken and hello skipper, nice to meet you. I have some great cockpit shots after the retrofit that I can post soon. The worlds shots are nice, but we (Misplaced Pages) can not use them. I will get some new ones posted. The challenge is dealing with the photos (limited at that) we have on Commons. I can get a few other US Skippers to contribute pics. My comment regarding modern was more to the effect that it is not a delaminating Plastrend or a one off wood boat from days of old. The hull had measurement stickers from Barcelona 1992 when I got it, so it would be considered a modern version of a boat that has been being built since 1951. The boat, in the photo was in fact frozen in time, and as mentioned before had NEVER been rerigged. talk→ WPPilot 18:24, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Yacht
Would you like to write a couple of words, like four-five lines about the yach - Sailing yacht Zapata II - for its entry in Signpost? About the sailing event and the yacht and so on. You are obviously the expert on this theme.... Hafspajen (talk) 21:42, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yacht Zapata II: The 50-year-old Zapata II is easily one of the prettiest sailboats in Newport Beach Harbor. Originally commissioned for a prominent Southern California yachtsman in 1964, she would become the only other Calkins 50 built to this particular design configuration (with flush decks). Originally the all-wooden Calkins 50s were considered the Rolls-Royces of the Southern California sail boat racing scene. The “C-50s,”, were competitive racers, equally renowned for both exceptional craftsmanship and quality. Zapata II has a racing long history and is still raced every year in the opening day race for its affiliated yacht club. San Diego naval architect Skip Calkins built first her sister ship and won the 1957 Transpac. The design was considered so advanced, it was banned from racing for the next two years in the event. Zapata II hails out of Newport Harbor Yacht Club, in Newport Beach, CA.
- Wonder if it would be OK to add this one to the entry? Hafspajen (talk) 14:36, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
- HM; we don't have an article on Wendell H. Calkins or Skip Calkins - only other Calkins. http://sailboatdata.com/view_designer.asp?designer_id=279 this say A profile of Calkins appeared in an issue of 'Sports Illustrated' magazine, March 4th, 1963.. Maybe you can find that on some library? Hafspajen (talk) 14:40, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
- Adam decided to take Wikibreak and I am stressed because we all leaned on him heavily. Will you help with several entries? There is for example the Capitol .... here is a start. If I manage to at least start up evrey entry I can at feel relaxed after it, and we can make the article. right now I am a bit worried. Hafspajen (talk) 19:25, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

Capitol entry
The United States Capitol is a building, designed by William Thornton and built in the neoclassical style completed in the year 1800, around which the city was laid out, situated at the Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., USA: The Capitol is the seat of the United States Congress, housing the federal government of the United States. In spring 1792, United States Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson proposed a design competition to solicit designs for the Capitol and the "President's House", and set a four-month deadline. The prize was $500 and a lot in the Federal City. At least ten individuals submitted designs for the Capitol; A late entry by amateur architect William Thornton, submitted on January 31, 1793, won praise for its "Grandeur, Simplicity, and Beauty" by Washington, as well as from Thomas Jefferson. Thornton was inspired by the east front of the Louvre, as well as the Paris Pantheon for the center portion of the design. Thornton's design was officially approved in a letter dated April 5, 1793.

Breiðafjörður has a spectacular land and seascape consisting of shallow seas, small fjords and bays and an inner part of intertidal areas dotted with about 3,000 islands, islets and skerries. The islands in Breiðafjörður have an unbroken history of human use but now only few islands are inhabited year-round. Many islands are used for summer residences and natural resources such as eiderdown harvesting is the main source of income for many farmers.

Kuchipudi /kuːtʃiˈpuːdi/ (Telugu: కూచిపూడి) is a Indian classical dance from Andhra Pradesh, India. It is also popular all over South India. Bharata Muni who wrote the Natya Shastra about 3000 years ago had explained various aspects of this dance form. Later sometime in the 13th century, the impetus to kuchipudi was given by Sidhendra Yogi. Kuchipudi dancers are quicksilver and scintillating, rounded and fleet-footed, they perform with grace and fluid movements. Performed to classical Carnatic music, it shares many common elements with Bharatanatyam. Kuchipudi is as ancient as Natya astra (1st century BC)in which mention is made of a dance drama form besides solo. An invocatory verse also indicates that four forms of dance were prevalent then, of which ‘Dakshintya’ or South Indian form is apparently the earliest version of Kuchipudi.

I imagine a lot of this could be used.
Sailing yacht Zapata II is an offshore yacht and a featured picture nominated by our sporty pilot contibutor WPPilot (who actually IS a pilot). Originally the all-wooden Calkins 50 sailboats were considered the Rolls-Royces of the Southern California sail boat racing scene. The 50-year-old Zapata II was originally commissioned for a prominent Southern California yachtsman in 1964, she would become the only other Calkins 50 built to this particular design configuration e.g. a yacht with flush decks. San Diego naval architect Skip Calkins built first her sister ship and won the 1957 Transpacific Yacht Race with a young David Ullman onboard. The design was considered so advanced, it was banned from racing for the next two years in the event. The “C-50s,”, were competitive racers, equally renowned for both exceptional craftsmanship and quality. "Zapata II" has a long racing history and is still raced every year in the opening day race for its affiliated yacht club. Zapata II hails out of Newport Harbor Yacht Club, in Newport Beach, CA, and we are invited to a glorious free tour out on the Californian waters on this yacht!!!

- You did NOTHING of the kind to upset me. It is this circus with the van Gogh nom that is really made me fed up, because the circus about the van Gogh nomination that is about - basically - that you are not allowed to co-nom - oh, not because the co-noms wouldt's support the nom, but because they would have got 14 thiny stars. And that is coming from somebody who has hundreds and hundreds of those stars - an who made nominations up to 40 - 50 pieces per nom. I am tired of this kind of mentality. Hafspajen (talk) 23:25, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
- Well really don't let it get to you. I agree 100% that this seems like, at times the Wild West and common sense plays no roll. Frustrating as all hell but from my perspective, I do this for those who will come to this place a hundred years from now and have access to a perspective that evolved in one small sliver of time. I would prescribe 2 beers and a 1960's Movie that is completely free of technology, then do a recheck in the morning :) talk→ WPPilot 23:31, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

If you want to reverse them feel free to do so. Maybe I have hurt people and sinked their noms. That would be stupid. Maybe I am stupid all together. - I promise you that it is fully possible to make an awful presentation with the very same material. It is all about layout that brings it out. Hafspajen (talk) 21:58, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Zapata II, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rolls-Royce (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

.
- Yes 22 is a lot... a real lot. You were working hard. Of course, if there is anything funny to said about them...
Two things to think about: the featured pictures are linked to the paintings, not to the articles, as it is done the featured article list. This is why it is necesseary to link them to their articles, with a blue link, the first time we mention them in the description. The first worh in the description should be blue link to the ARTICLE of the picture. A simple blue link, noo need to be bolded. The same thing is not necessary for the article list, they are linked already IN the list. Because they are articles. And -second - just leave the layout to us. We already had discussed extensively with Adam -and both have rather strong ideas about the layout ... not that we can't agree in the end - because we can - but it took a lot of discussions and that is the first thing we do. It comes first, with the first set-up. Hafspajen (talk) 10:30, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yeeee Haaaaa... --talk→ WPPilot 15:03, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- SORRY. Wasn't clear. The FIRST should be bold the second not... You will get it soon... Hafspajen (talk) 20:02, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- Just following your lead here chief, I think then that, as far as featured pics section, I am complete and will stick to that area until I get it down, thanks for the tips and direction.... - ℅ ✰WPPilot✰ 20:10, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

I fix bear
The Kodiak bear, also called called Ursus arctos middendorffi - not to be confused with Venus willendorffi is one of the largest bears in the world. The Kodiak bear is a lovely looking giant bear, that has fluffy, soft and light brown fur and they are big and heavy, the smallest female is about 225 kg (500 lbs) and the biggest male 635 kg (1400 lbs). That is quite a lot, ladies and gentlemen. That is about as heavy as a horse. They sleep in the winter and come out in the spring, eat berries and veggies plus salmon when it is salmon season. They don't eat people - the Kodiak bears generally keep away from people. If you meat a bear, back away slowly and silently, without making sudden movements or noises. However don't go near any bear with cubs, they will attack. Also, don't try to take away their food and don't do stupid things like trowing stones on them, because they don't like it. Like one of the morons I had the unfortunate idea to go hiking with. A bear was passing by our tent in the evening, and the jerk throw a stone on the poor bear, who did nothing at all, just walked by. The bear didn't do anything during the night, (very diplomatic of him, I think) - but next day when we come back from a long hike we found the tent pulled out from the ground and totally ripped into pieces. He was whining and fussing, but I have to say it gave me a certain satisfaction to notice this happening, whatever did he had to throw that stone on the poor animal for? So be nice to the bears and don't force them to get angry with you. They are very intelligent animals too, the level of intelligence seems to be somewhere between that of an average canine and a primate. Due to their level of intelligence, individual bears have personalities and unique ways of dealing with situations, one may have lunch with you while the other has you for lunch. If you are stupid.

The new one's up. I'm going to try and do a bit more this week, as I'm both feeling a bit better, and have slightly more time. Adam Cuerden 10:27, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- Cool, glad your back in form. I have been enjoying my roll and will continue to assist in any way you see fit. My shot of Liberty Island is one of the new FP's, and it would be cool to lead with that, if your ok with it that is. --talk→ WPPilot 10:41, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- "Thirty-nine featured pictures" Holy smoke, I will be a expert on Vincent van Gogh after this issue! talk→ WPPilot 10:45, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- I'm afraid that image is for next week. Our cutoff is the end of Saturday, GMT. I certainly have no objections, though, when it's up, unless we have a ton of portrait-aligned images we need that space for (unlikely). Adam Cuerden 10:58, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Just a heads up that the new framework is in place. It's a relatively short one, so I'm sure we'll do fine. Adam Cuerden 09:31, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
- Oh, I don't mind at all. I really don't understand what Adam meant. I think it is better that you sort it out with each other, without me getting in the middle. Better to do it now in the beginning. Adam has his ideas about how he wants to do things. Hafspajen (talk) 23:37, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
- You know very well I don't mind editig it, I just realized I better let you work and Adam give you feedback. Hafspajen (talk) 23:43, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
- Ya he did not really note who he was addressing. I would rather do the rough drafts and let you guys trim them and add some comedy to them. It starting to look good, I was kind of blasting some of it as I am traveling for a few days on business and will have limited access and time.talk→ WPPilot 23:46, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Might want to respond here. Adam Cuerden 01:31, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
OK, that was badly late. I figured out and put this up, Editing Misplaced Pages:Misplaced Pages Signpost/2015-02-25/Featured content - and we won't be able to make it without you, because it is a damn long list, and Adam is not around for same reason.
