Grand Forks Secondary School
Someone was vandalizing the page for Grand Forks Secondary School and changed the mascot from the Wolves to hobbits. It is the Wolves, and I am trying to change that, but you reverted the edit.
Canucksfan97 (talk) 03:02, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
Can you please stop reverting that? I used to attend the school, and the team name is the Wolves and not the hobbits. I'm trying to revert vandalism and you're stopping me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Canucksfan97 (talk • contribs) 03:05, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
- Stop vandalizing the damn article otherwise I'll have you blocked.... Now edit here constructively or find something better to do! –Davey2010 03:07, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not vandalizing the article, someone else was and I'm attempting to correct it. If you look on the official website of Grand Forks Secondary School you will discover that their team is called the Wolves. If you look through my contributions to Misplaced Pages you should be able to see that I have been a helpful editor, and have never vandalized anything. Please do some research before you revert my edits. My edits were correcting previous vandalism. Canucksfan97 (talk) 03:15, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
- Canucksfan97 - You're right there is!, I apologize! - There were alot of people vandalizing the article and without looking properly I assumed you were vandalizing it too... So I apologize,
- Keep up the great work :) –Davey2010 03:20, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for the info. This wiki edit is new to me and I have learned a lot today. I am still stumbling around, but plan on changing that to a cantor or lope. The info posted was not accurate, that was the reason for the change. Eatprayswimm (talk) 20:36, 11 February 2015 (UTC) |

JayBleeng
Looks like someone else started the article for the deleted JayBleeng page, which the original editor was blocked (possible sock puppet?) Wgolf (talk) 02:47, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Wgolf, Hope all's well, I'd say it's a sock puppet as if you look between Jaybleeng (Deleted) and JayBleeng - They've used a capital B which could be an attempt to avoid the watchers of the deleted article as the new one's now unnotoiced by everyone who may of been watching the previous article ? , Meh I'd list it at SPI to be on the safe side mate, –Davey2010 02:53, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- Agreed-I have noticed changing a vowel is another common way or even adding accents to the name (On another note I did notice someone added a page for a actress that they had to put a (I) for since the article was rpp years and years ago for being recreated-but that seems to happen every so often) but yeah I'm going to start one. Wgolf (talk) 02:56, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- That's the downfall with RPP is you can get that page "recreation blocked" but you can easily evade it just by adding "(singer)" on the end or as you say a simple lowercase to uppercase change, Thanks, –Davey2010 03:02, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

AfD: Non admin closures
Hi. Thank you for helping out at AfD. When closing as 'redirect' please remember to include the {{R from...}} template on the redirect page so that it populates its related category. See this example where the template should be {{R from school}}. Thanks. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:23, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- Kudpung - Damnit sorry I'd forgot there, As you'll see from my contributions I have been adding that template for quite some time so I'm not new to it.... :) - I would show diffs but my laptop's being a complete dick and it appears to try and find new ways of not working!, Don't ever buy Asus seriously! . –Davey2010 05:30, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

- Wow that's rather surprising!, Perhaps I ought to get one then , I'm running a 2010-2012 laptop with Windows 7 and only came off a 2006 Dell laptop with XP last year ... So I'm not exactly "with the technology" as they say . –Davey2010 05:56, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

- As of now Windows 7's on a 5 year extended support plan so once it expires completely in 2020 I'm then hoping to go straight to Windows 10 (I can't stand 8!), Although If I'm being totally honest I don't think this laptop will last that long! . –Davey2010 14:02, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Closure of Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Nobo Ice Cream
Hi, Davey! I appreciate your recent work doing NAC closures at AfD. However, I think this closure was premature. The discussion had been running for less than 24 hours; the standard is 7 days. Generally, nominations are speedy-closed only if the nominator withdraws the nomination, and that didn't happen in this case. And although three strong "keep"s is a good reason to close the article as keep when the time has run, it is not enough for a speedy-keep. I think you might want to reopen this discussion until either the nomination is withdrawn or the time course has run. That's mostly for procedure's sake, I have no doubt that the ultimate outcome will be "keep". But you might want to re-read WP:NAC just to refresh your understanding of what is and isn't appropriate; NAC is not a time to be WP:BOLD. And you might also want to review Misplaced Pages:Speedy keep. This is not intended as criticism, just part of the learning process, and I hope you will keep up the good work you have been doing. --MelanieN (talk) 15:40, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Melanie, I admit I was in 2 minds whether to close or not but decided to be WP:BOLD and go ahead and had assumed everyone would be fine,
Would've been nice if Ritchie333 had asked directly himself but there we go!.–Davey2010 15:45, 17 February 2015 (UTC)- I pinged you on MelanieN's talk about 20 minutes before she wrote this, so we could have a three way conversation - did you not get the notification? There are known problems with ping not turning up. Ritchie333 15:48, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Nope no ping unfortunately (Damn useless echo! - If you ever disagree with my closures please just ask and I'll happily RV/open :), Thanks, –Davey2010 15:52, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- You might report that missed ping at Misplaced Pages:Village pump (technical)/Archive 134#Echo is not working, with a diff. They are collecting examples, so they can research why some pings work and some don't. I missed quite a few over the weekend but they are working for me now. --MelanieN (talk) 15:55, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Brilliant will do!, Thanks :) –Davey2010 16:02, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Autopatrolled right
Hi, Davey! I have just granted you the Autopatrolled right. I noticed that you don't have it, but you are more than qualified for this right. This won't really affect you much; it just means that your new articles from now on will not go through page curation. They will be marked as automatically patrolled by you. Takes a bit of a load off the new page patrollers. Happy editing! --MelanieN (talk) 21:49, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hi MelanieN, Wow thank you so much! :) - Unfortunately I've never created an article so haven't really felt the need to have it (I guess I may create an article at some point in my life lol)
- Thank you - It was very kind of you and it's very much appreciated :)
- Oh BTW I apologize for the reply earlier as I know I sounded "happy" ... Everything that could go wrong with my laptop is going wrong so yeah sorry :)
- Anyway thanks again :) - –Davey2010 21:57, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Your stats show some articles created. Although most of your creations have been redirects. --MelanieN (talk) 22:20, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

- LOL, I see what happened! It listed some of your page moves and even some of your AfD nominations as if they were Misplaced Pages pages created. Well, what would you like me to do? Theoretically that right is only supposed to be given to people who have created 50 or so articles. --MelanieN (talk) 22:32, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Ohhhh!, May aswell remove it - To be honest If I'll never use it then there's not much point in having it lol, I suppose I could hat-collect - Na It's fine to remove it I totally understand! :) –Davey2010 22:39, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. Chalk it up to a dumb newbie-admin mistake. But I expect you to earn it one of these days! --MelanieN (talk) 23:13, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

King's Rochester
Hi Davey. I've just reverted user:Oscarthewise on Rochester, Kent. I then came to King's Rochester and noticed that it was a senior editor, yourself, that had made the change. "The King's School" is the correct, formal and historic name of the institution. "King's Rochester" is a a PR name for use on slogans, advertising and the media. The question then is: should an encyclopaedia use the correct name or a PR name? As the senior editor involved I'll leave it up to you. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 00:14, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Martin, Obviously the correct name - I hadn't even realized it was a PR thing - Just assumed they had basically renamed themselves,
- My apologies for that - I perhaps should've dug deeper before assuming!, Thanks for your message - I shall revert! :)
- Thanks, –Davey2010 00:22, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
- They may be an ancient school and a charity, but since they get no state funding they are to an extent driven by bean counters and publicists like all businesses. To be fair I think part of the reasoning is to get a short snappy name that distinguishes them from the other Henrician King's Schools: Worcester, Peterborough, Gloucester, Chester & Canterbury. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 19:11, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
- Well I guess it makes sense instead of all 5 being one name :), Anyway thanks, –Davey2010 20:15, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Cinema Museum Editathon
I have removed your name from the editathon list. At Wikimedia UK we are currently experimenting with the Education Program Extension, and before receiving the note you dropped on my talk page I did not realise that enrollment was not user-reversible. So, your feedback is very useful and so you get a cup of coffee rather than a fish. Fabian Tompsett (WMUK) (talk) 11:18, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Fabian, Brilliant thanks ever so much :),
- I'm very surprised it wasn't reversible so it would be good if there was a "Remove yourself" or a similar button,

- Anyway thanks for your help :), –Davey2010 11:37, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Liza Arzamasova
The article Liza Arzamasova has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Very poorly sourced BLP
While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Sorry for the termplate. Max Schrems
Hi Davey2010: Just a heads up about Max Schrems. After you closed the AfD discussion, the AfD template was not removed from the article. I have removed it (diff). It seems likely that you're using the close afd script, but sometimes the AfD template needs to be manually removed from articles for various reasons (internet timeout, Misplaced Pages delays, etc.) As such, please consider double-checking the article pages (including talk) after closing discussions. Thanks, NORTH AMERICA 17:53, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Northamerica1000 - I've always checked but just lately I've been forgetting too as I tend go through the log and close one after another (Guess I should close, check, close etc etc), Anyway many thanks for removing it - Much appreciated, –Davey2010 18:31, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
RfA
Hi. Thank you for contributing to the process we use for electing our administators. Please remember that the RfA page is for offering your comment regarding the suitability of the candidate. Anything else is off topic and belongs elswere. Happy editing! --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 23:31, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
- With all respect Kudpung He's opposed a hell of alot of RFAs lately hence Admins, Myself and everyone else questioning him, If he Opposed AND Supported they'd be no issues .... but he hasn't - I will admit yesterdays pile on was a bit much and perhaps unneeded but at the end of the day If he Opposes every single RFA that appears then he deserves the questioning (to some extent),
- It's a 2 way thing - Him opposing is disrupting, Us all questioning him is disrupting,
- Anyway Happy Editing. –Davey2010 00:23, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
- I understad your concern, really I do, however, it's not a 2-way thing, it's a question of everyone wanting this. You'll never change the voting habits of some users - some of us have been around here a long time and know. I am the only user who has been constantly concerned with the quality of voting at RfA for over 5 yars and I know. If you have issues with a user's pattern of voting, the place to take it up with them is on their talk page, but even there you will have no success with users who have been aroud longer than you. You'll just encourage them to continue even more in defiance. If you want to scare new candidates away from running for adminship, a sure fire way is turn every vote - whether you like it or not - into a long discussion, especially ones tht degenerate in general discussions that belong very much elswhere. I would have voted on that RfA, but until someone takes the initiative to remove all the off-topic chat somewhere else, the candidate is going to have to do without my vote. Put it this way: what if it were your RfA? --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:41, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
- That's actually a very good point I guess it is everyone wanting the last word,
- I will admit especially lately it's become a bit much with everyone piling on him - We all (me inc) say "The RFA needs to change" but I guess we sure as hell aren't helping its process here!,
- Exactly if it were my RFA I to put it bluntly "Would want all that crap moved elsewhere", No one wants there RFA turned from them in to huge discussion over 1 Oppose,
- Anyway I'll perhaps quit with the comments as lets be honest they're not helping anyone,
- Anyway thanks for your message as well as for your reply - Much appreciated,
- I'll try and shut up more
- Thanks and have a great day :) –Davey2010 00:55, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

- Joking aside I apologize if at times I come across harsh - It's never my intention,
- When nominating articles you need to find sources before nominating - If you have found some and they turn out to be useless you need to say or again if you have looked and found nothing again you need to say otherwise everyone's just going to assume you haven't bothered looking at all,
- Anyway Happy Editing :) –Davey2010 21:23, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the swift reply. I am an extremely busy new page patroller, and I tend to start marking and reviewing pages en masse on occasion to relieve the massive backlog of unreviewed new pages that often collects, so after a long time tagging and editing, I tend to get a bit monotonous while working at NPP. But thanks for the discussion closure, since correct judgments need to be made by someone. smileguy91 21:29, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

Ivy Bank Primary School
I was actually making some amendments to the article to show notability. The school has the largest Resource base provision in the north of England, which I think would make it notable. TimMassey — Preceding unsigned comment added by TimMassey (talk • contribs) 22:49, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- Are you affliated with the school ? Anyway having a large base doesn't make it notable sorry. –Davey2010 22:56, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- My children go to the school, yes, but not to the resource base. Why would the the resource base not make this school notable? If you are unaware, the Resource Base caters for children with moderate to severe learning and behavioral difficulties.
- TimMassey — Preceding unsigned comment added by TimMassey (talk • contribs) 23:06, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- It's obvious you work for the school, Nope that wont work either, You've been here since 2009 so you by now should know all about WP:COI, I would strongly suggest you stop editing the school and just edit articles you like, Thanks and Happy Editing. –Davey2010 23:09, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Please join the discussion on Talk:Glengarry Glen Ross (film)
Hello, I am soliciting comments for an RfC that is currently open on the "Glengarry Glen Ross (film)" page. There is disagreement about where the film was set (New York vs. Chicago).
One of the issues is whether it is original research to cite to elements in the film itself (including props, dialogue, and a statement in the end credits that it was "filmed on location in New York City") to establish setting.
Response so far in the RfC has been mixed. Comments welcome! Xanthis (talk) 14:13, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

In regards to AfDs
There's a specific speedy tag for closed XfDs - it's G6 {{db-xfd}}. Just so you know. Also, it'd be nice if on bundled nominations you removed the AfD tag from each article (but someone will get them soon anyways probably). Cheers, ansh666 04:31, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks I'll use it!,
Well I've clearly not realized it was bundled so it'd be nice if you pointed me to the actual AFD instead of moaning over it!.–Davey2010 04:40, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
