Deletion of Young Lady (Song By Kid Cudi)
Hi there! Please explain to me why a collaboration by two notable artists makes for a non-notable song especially as the song fuses two wholly different genres and is backed up with a background story by one of the artists. As for now I see no reason not to undo your edit. Thank you. Orangetengo (talk) 19:01, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
Courtesy blanking
It's not "silly", courtesy blanking is a thing we do when deletion debates and other internal workings cause upset to real people in the real world. Everything you want to see is still in the history. This is not controversial. Guy (Help!) 12:29, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: PlayGroundOnline
Hello TheLongTone. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of PlayGroundOnline, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Hi, I removed your speedy from The Village School (London), as educational institutions aren't eligible for A7 speedy: see WP:A7. Thanks, Ruby Murray 11:08, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

speedy
As reviewing administrator, I removed your speedy from FirstCity Financial and changed it to prod-- tho the consensus seems to be that banks like this aren't notable, speedy requires only a rational claim to significance, and it is rational for someone to think that a bank of NASDAQ might be significant for an encyclopedia
I also remved the speedy on Ankita Makwana[ for the same reason. The combination of things is enough that someone might reasonably think it worth an article.
Please remember that passing a7 requires only an indication of significance , which is much less than notability. This is true even if it is very likely that the article will inevitably be deleted. DGG ( talk ) 17:03, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Hybrid airship
Thank you for helping out. The new editor is insisting on painting their criticisms as "Engineering considerations" and absolute fact. I am in danger of being drawn into a personal edit war. I don't know if you feel up to reviewing the ping-pong match over the associated section title and content, and let me know how you think this should be handled, I would much appreciate it if you could. Feel free to come down against me if you think I am going wrong. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 15:26, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'll do what I can. Many of the edits seem pretty sensible to me...the more I learn about airships the dafter they seem...but the editor clearly doesn't understand that views must be properly cited.TheLongTone (talk) 15:58, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- What more concerns me is the one-sidedness - the editor will brook no NPOV and demands that their criticisms be presented as the only valid engineering considerations. I have started a new discussion on that specific point. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 17:09, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Agree, have commented to that effect on the talk page.TheLongTone (talk) 17:15, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Just seen the anti-LTA rant offered to you on their talk page. I am intrigued to see this from someone who, in this post, claims to have worked for a company that, according to this edit, was set up to sell Metal-clad airships but that subsequently collapsed. Love metal, hate LTA. The logical conclusion is that all that metal wasn't so LTA after all. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 19:14, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- Whetever their level of knowledge, they have no ides how to go about editing. And for somebody who claims 30 years engineering experience, they are very much the drama queen. Funny, I encountered a similar editor a while back who had performed a huge number of edits on the airship article, basically completely restructuring the history in a very unhelpful way & not leaving edit summaries. I left a couple of polite notes on his talkpage but he carried on & when I got fed up & wholesale reverted he did a similar flouncing off in a huff act. Some people just don't get it.TheLongTone (talk) 19:29, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Regarding article - Hammerhead USV-T
Why did you edit the page even after I posted an ''{{inuse}}'' already?? It's sole purpose is to avoid an edit conflict! You only did a very minor change while I was in it for a major copy-edit. In the mean time, I'd cleaned up and re-organized the article, divided in sections and also did manage to more-than-double the page content in addition to adding half a dozen references. And as I went up to save it, The page has undergone changes .. avoid edit-conflict. What? How? I posted...! It took me over half-an-hour to manage this, but was ruined because of a minor cleanup, so in vain. Starting from scratch for one more time now. Abhinav (talk) 18:45, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, just wanted to be able to read the text. FYI, if this happens again you can copy your edits & repaste them into the article.TheLongTone (talk) 18:50, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Can't do it. After you click the 'save page', the page is reloaded and renewed with the current content. No use in going back as all the changes have gone away. There has to be something to copy from.. :). Only way out is if you manage to write out the article again.Abhinav (talk) 19:02, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- You should get a message warning you of an edit conflict, at which point you can scroll down to the bottom where you'll find a window with your edits in it. And sorry again, it's happened to me & it's infuriating, the only excuse I can offer is that a lot of ediors put up th inuse tag and are in fact not editing.TheLongTone (talk) 19:06, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Pedantic Whinge (continued)
Hey man, I'm quite new to being a member of Misplaced Pages, so just bear with me if this is inappropriate.
Disregarding my rant towards your abuse of language, (which was kind of unneeded, given that I am the one in the wrong, here,) I would really like you to remove the page about that book, if possible. I've read through the rules and guidelines of article deletion, and noticed that there is a mention of a seven-day interval between announcement of deletion and the actual deletion itself. Is it possible, if I ask you as the sole editor of the page, that you can wipe the page completely? (I have a compulsive need for closure, don't ask about it.)
If my behaviour seems somewhat ambivalent to you, don't take it personally. I like drama and giving people a hard time :)
PS. If you read through the plot summary, what did you think of it?BTirbaoqlis (talk) 23:14, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
- I can't delete it (I'm not an admin)...if you really want it gone you, as page creator, can replace the prod template with the csd-u1 template (ie csd-u1 enclosed in double curly brackets {{. Cant simply write the code here , since it causes problems). Or you can simply blank the page & I (or sombody else) can speedy-delete tag it. altho I As to the plot...not really my cup of meat, but a) I'm no literary critic and b) even if I was, I very much doubt whether my taste is much in line with the reading publics'. Has the book actually been written, btw?TheLongTone (talk) 23:32, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
- The book has been written, yes. It is just not so popular, to be honest. You can imagine why, I assume... but the page is deleted now, so I'm fine. Have a good one.BTirbaoqlis (talk) 09:57, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

I declined the speedy - your tag was correct but the authors added enough assertions of importance to void the A7. Not sure if the subject meets WP:POLITICIAN or even GNG, so an AFD might be appropriate. §FreeRangeFrog 18:30, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

Nomination of Cartozoology for deletion
Hello TheLongTone,
I came across the page Cartozoology today, and saw that you had previously proposed it for deletion and said "Probable copyvio, since most google (sic) hits have same text, but since the origin may have been on a non copyright (sic) site (I) am not going down that route."
I pasted the article in quotes into a search engine, and found that it was an exact match of the text at the top of this page. Per WP:COPYPASTE, if a website makes no mention of its copyright status, the material is assumed to be fully copyrighted. Even if the original source was under a workable license, since the content is also posted on a copyrighted site, I propose that it be speedily deleted. Your thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated on the the deletion discussion page. Passengerpigeon (talk) 03:24, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

I could use some help
I came across the stub Dragon Dream, a modern rigid airship, and I'm trying to work out its relationship to the manufacturers planned ML866 and ML868 designs, how much is of the work is down to the Walrus Hula, and then Project Pelican funding. And then how to fit that into the parent corporation and aeroscraft articles. Suspect you have enough of your own stuff to do, but if you know anything? GraemeLeggett (talk) 09:47, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Respected Sir, I noticed that you have nominated my pages for deletion / discussion for deletion: Rahul_Kumar_(businessman) & Joy_Ghosh_(businessman). If you refer to the history of page Rahul_Kumar_(businessman) the page was edited in requirements of Misplaced Pages. It is a short biography with links to all credible sources and was discussed with editor Ascii002 itself. - The articles are OK as far as tone goes (ie not promotional), but I fail to see that these men are notable: they are just businessmen doing their jobs.TheLongTone (talk) 20:24, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- Respected Sir, there are notable references from leading newspapers like Economic Times, Business Standard, Reuters and Yahoo, which is quite notable and old (may be 2 years old or more). They are well written by independent journalists and denotes notability. We can say that these articles are biographies falling under Start category but does not go against the Misplaced Pages rules, these people are notable in some sense which is covered by independent sources (written by journalists and not self written). The reference points are being well proved and I will try my level best to make it better further. I request you to please withdraw the nomination for deletion for both the pages Rahul_Kumar_(businessman) and Joy_Ghosh_(businessman). I assure you further editing. Please acknowledge my request, I will be grateful to you.
Both the people have contributed to the industry, Rahul_Kumar_(businessman) valued WhatsApp at US$ 11 billion before it was sold to Facebook and Joy_Ghosh_(businessman) is the co-fund manager behind India's largest private equity fund which is notable in itself. Sir, I understand they are businessman doing there job, then why we don't impose the same on articles like ] (having several deadlinks as references) and ] which has only two references and both are dead, which does not prove notability at all. I request you to revisit your decision, and withdraw the nomination for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. Your contributed article, Malaysian Airlines Flight ML17 shootdown
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Malaysian Airlines Flight ML17 shootdown. First, thank you for your contribution; Misplaced Pages relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Malaysia Airlines Flight 17. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Misplaced Pages. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Misplaced Pages looks forward to your future contributions. NickGibson3900 (Talk - Cont.) 22:15, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Nulli Secundus
Hi,
Just for your interest, Capper and Cody did overfly Buck House on the way in, but had no intention of landing. After flying round St. Paul's,contrary winds prevented them from returning to Farnborough, so they first tried to land on Clapham Common but the throngs of spectators made it too dangerous. They then diverted to the grounds of the Crystal Palace, which Cody knew well from when his kiting workshop had been based there. Walker tells the whole story in his "Early Aviation At Farnborough", Vol. I. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 08:02, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. I assume from the above that you have the Walker book, which I've skimmed but not read fully, good to know that I was right about Buck House...I was being bold removing the statement, from the (fair amount) I've read about Nulli Secundus & also a feeling that it was screamingly unlikely, even though it caried a reference: I was assuming that the statement had been dropped into a referenced sentence.TheLongTone (talk) 12:38, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- I seem to recall that at an early stage of planning the journey they toyed with the idea, more in jest than in earnest, of literally dropping in on the King's household but rejected it quickly as inadvisable. Certainly, royal friendship was a mark of Cody's Farnborough days; the idea was simply to pay a return visit, as something of a personal joke. It's not significant enough to try and chase down a reference, though. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 16:10, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Dan Cramer (politician)
I see that you have PRODded this article. I agree it does not qualify for an article at this time, but what would you think about redirecting it to United States House of Representatives elections in Tennessee, 2014#District 7 instead of prodding it? I believe that is common practice for candidates for office who are otherwise not notable. I didn't want to do this on my own, but wanted to see if you agree. Thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 17:59, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- Sounds reasonable, although another possibility would be to userfy it in case he does get elected. Since the ins & outs of US politics are not an area of expertise, I don't know how likely this is, altho I did note that i's Republican at the moment.TheLongTone (talk) 20:43, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- WP:NPOL says "In the case of candidates for political office who do not meet this guideline, the general rule is to redirect to an appropriate page covering the election or political office sought in lieu of deletion. Relevant material from the biographical article can be merged into the election or political office page if appropriate." This approach leaves a history which can be restored if they get elected. The relevant footnote adds "Deleting a biography in these cases instead of merely redirecting it makes recovering useful information from the page history difficult, and should be done only when there are relevant reasons other than lack of notability for removing the article from the mainspace." I will remove the PROD and go ahead and redirect this article. I'll also watchlist it in case somebody tries to restore it inappropriately. --MelanieN (talk) 21:42, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Origins: Discovery
Greetings TheLongTone and thanks for your comment on the article on Origins: Discovery. You guys are faster than the speed of light! I was asked by fans to support the Wiki page as the author of the novel because the work is highly controversial. It deals with the Armenian Genocide that occurred nearly 100 years ago, and those that are aware of the work from the early releases have realized as we approach the centenary memorial that there was a need for some information to compliment your excellent article on the Armenian Genocide itself. I agree the article needs work and will promise to assist the submitter to improve it, but please understand that while I certainly concur with your blunt appraisal of the work as being 'non-notable' at present, that is not likely to remain so, especially with the interest from New Zealand/Australia (whose soldiers fought the Ottoman Army at the same time as the Genocide) and Armenia itself, let alone a certain nation's reaction that was at the centre of the Genocide. I will have no complaint if you do delete but humbly request that you allow the article in the circumstances please (even better if you would take action after reading the novel :-)). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kiwiodysee (talk • contribs) 13:09, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Ostrich?
Hi. It wasn't a threat, or an "inexplicable" comment, as you speak of in your talk page history. Don't take it the wrong way, but I only wanted to make it up to you for the way I acted in the past about having "The Little Things Give You Away" being redirected to its last album, like Minutes to Midnight for example. I want to make it up to you, as I am still confused about that "Ostrich" section you left on my talk page before it was removed because of me. The question is... what did you mean by the term "Ostrich" when I was blocked for 30 hours in the past? Thank you, and I apologize for any cause of trouble that I have done. Thank you. - The comment was clear: it was a reference to your ostrich-like behaviour in blanking comments on your talk page rather than modifying your behaviour to avoid others feeling the need to leave such comments. Since that one comment on your talk page I have had no interaction with you, so I do not see what point you are trying to make. I certainly hold no grudge agaist you. My Article
Hey as I am new to Misplaced Pages i try to publish an article about a trading platform You marked it as spam, and i dont understand why. I did my best to write a good article. If you have any suggestions for me let me know. Wish you a nice day Sincerely Achilles25 (talk) 12:42, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- Problem is that the article reads like a brochure for the software: I do accept that you have not used any promtional language. It also looks as thoug many of the sources are the company who developed this: it seems to be new & independant sources are needed to establish that it is notable.TheLongTone (talk) 12:53, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for your quick reply, well i have few more sources, but they are on german. But as you can see i posted one interview with the CEO provided by a Broker, and also a demonstration that this software is used in japanese TV I can also provide more sources which are provided by some brokers if this helps. Is here some kind of a PM system where i can send you the sources and you can maybe give me feedback on them? Sincerely Achilles25 (talk) 13:04, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- Computer software sources are not something I know much about, so can't really help, but reviews in good technical publications or websites would help. I'll remove the spedy tag to give youtime to source it.TheLongTone (talk) 13:39, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
Thank you very much, i will try to do this by today evening or tmr. Have a nice day and thank you for your suggestions Achilles25 (talk) 13:56, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Accounting Professionalism
Thanks dear for your contribution through writing signal of Proposed deletion of Accounting Professionalism on the basis of WP:NODICTIONARY. I want to tell on this issue. Yes, I started it from definition of accounting professionalism. But I want to grow it with other wikipedians who are interested in accounting. Article on accounting professionalism will be notable for all those who are learning this profession. So, please remove your proposed deletion and send link to other wikipedian for my help. Thanks.

Vegan spam
While I get your point, that might be somewhat harsh language to hit a new editor in a class project, don't you think?
Bigger question - how would you make vegan spam? Tempeh might give you the right consistency, but how would you make it taste bad enough? Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:23, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

- Sure, it was a bad article, no doubt, and it should never have been created in article space rather than a sandbox. The whole situation was bad and I appreciate your willingness to step in to clean up a problem article. And it's certainly helpful for the student to see, in stark terms, what's wrong with their writing. So no criticism there. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 12:14, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Throw A Penny
Why are you so hell bent on deleting the page for the song "Throw A Penny"? This was an official US single by a major recording act. There are several thousand pages for songs out there that are of no real significance, were never hits or are from minor acts that never even had a hit on the charts. Lou72JG (talk) 12:21, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
- See WP:OTHERSTUFF and WP:SONG. The song is non-notable. That other non-notable songs &c have articles is an argument for deleting of redirecting the rather than keepimg one.TheLongTone (talk) 14:09, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Simon Freakley article
Speedy deletion notice suggests that the subject of the article is a musical recording, whereas in fact he is noteworthy as a businessman with an international reputation in business reconstruction as shown in the online newspaper sources. Mirrortoamermaid (talk) 15:08, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
The reason for speedy deletion has now been changed, however it remains a fact that the subject has an international reputation for company restructuring as shown in the many online newspaper interviews attached as sources. Hi there, I've declined your speedy deletion request on this article because it says she is a journalist for the Guardian, a major British newspaper. This is a reasonable assertion of significance so CSD:A7 doesn't apply. Feel free to nominate at WP:PROD or WP:AFD if you still want the article deleted. Stifle (talk) 15:43, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

I have removed the speedy deletion tag you placed on this article. I admit my tendency was to do the same, but I decided to see if Google News would have anything, and it does.
