Roth and Fowles, epitaphs and graves

Hi Gerda. Do you remember what I said here? I took a long time to upload that image for the Ernst Roth article. Now I've finally managed to do the same for the Leonard N. Fowles article. It being a musical subject and both having epitaphs related to that, I thought you might appreciate a note about this. One happy editor

Dear Gerda, - I want to thank you, so much, for naming me an "awesome Wikipedian" for my work on the Mark Satin biography, and for giving me my day! As you may know, the article was "Today's featured article" on the Main Page that day, and I (with others' help) have had to spend all my Misplaced Pages time since then digging out from under various malicious edits and inappropriate edits. Receiving the award when I did made these last 10 days much more bearable for me.

I would love to put news of the award on my talk page! I've done so in the text, but I would prefer doing so with a Userbox, particularly if it has that gorgeous blue sapphire on it. Is there one? I'll watch this space for your reply. - Babel41 (talk) 04:21, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

There is a box, further down on the awards list, created by the earlier givers. There is no one with the sapphire, - the square box would not match the designer's ideas. Create something?

But I love the box above and as you'll see, I simply linked the "Awesome Wikipedian" phrase in it to the PumpkinSky Prize page, which appears to go from 2012 right up to the present. Barnstars are well intended but for my taste they are a little too impersonal; sort of like a store-bought greeting card versus a handwritten letter. So I am taking this opportunity to say that Misplaced Pages is a better place because you are here. I wish you all the best. PS: Have you ever sung Berg's Altenberg Lieder? I've uploaded the first page of the manuscript, by Johann Andreas Kuhnau, Bach's copyist in Leipzig, but the quality is terrible, and I don't know why. I asked for deletion on Commons :( There's another page from the manuscript in my source, by Bach himself (end of the 1st part + beginning of the 2nd (Aria for alto, oboe and cello/continuo)). Orwell does indeed offer a number of good recommendations for writing, which I try to keep in mind when I write and edit.

As one contributes to Misplaced Pages, one hopes that someone, somewhere will understand what one has written and will perhaps find it useful.

I woke up,

fell out of bed and didn’t even drag a comb across my head, but instead, headed for my computer and wikipedia. You can not imagine (as if I really know anything about your imagination) how good it felt to receive your note and gem. Last night a brother and I had been trying to track down a star sapphire ring of my mother’s and although we were not successful finding that, yours on my desktop this a.m. seems . . …. significant. Your summation of my wikipedia career was impressive and insightful and yes, I will miss TParis. Bruckner's Te Deum - Entwurffassung 1881

Beste Gerda,

Hans Roelofs provided me with a copy from a private CD of an "experimental" performance of the 1881 draft-version of Bruckner's Te Deum. See in Discography of Bruckner's Te Deum: "In dieser Übersicht läuft die Aufnahme unter Stolper (2003) gewissermaßen 'außer Konkurrenz', weil sie nicht in erster Linie ein ästhetisches Erlebnis vermitteln, sondern Einblicke in die 'Alchemistenwerkstatt' Anton Bruckners bieten will. Sie bietet eine frühe Version (1881) des Te Deums - vor allem Franz Schedel hat sich um diese Ausgrabung verdient gemacht. In ihr ist das Grundkonzept schon da, die Ausführung der Details allerdings noch unausgegoren; die endgültige Fassung ist schätzungsweise um ein Viertel länger. Vor allem IV und V erfuhren in den darauf folgenden Jahren eine wesentliche Umgestaltung und Erweiterung. Stimmen sind ausgeschrieben, die Instrumentierung angegeben aber nur rudimentär ausgearbeitet; die Begleitung wird in dieser Aufnahme vom Klavier übernommen und da, wo sie fehlt, durch die entsprechenden Stellen aus Schalks Klavierauszug ergänzt. Als Chor tritt ein nicht-professioneller Ad hoc-Chor auf. Die CD war nie im Handel und nur Interessenten zugänglich."

It is a live performance, which occurred on 07-10-2003 in Nürnberg. The draft version of 1881, which includes the vocal scores and some basic orchestration, is shorter than the final version (357 bars versus 513 bars). In particular the Aeterna fac is different and much shorter, and the final fugue is not yet composed. I find it very interesting. I have added a mention to it on the page Te Deum (Bruckner).

WikiProject Women's History/NIH Women’s History Month Edit-a-Thon 2015

I added all the new and updated/improved articles from this link Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Women's History/NIH Women’s History Month Edit-a-Thon 2015 to our page Misplaced Pages:WikiWomen's History Month/2015/Outcomes. Also put shells on them with the Wikiprojects as very few had them. BUT, what I don't know how to do is get the photos on the Outcomes page. (They added like 50 images) Can you help? Gerda Arendt, your suggestions about going the extra mile with Nora Volkow to get GA status inspired me to put pedal to the metal on a woman on our very large "to do" list who's nowhere near as famous, but incredibly awesome. I have nothing to do with biography project, and have never tried to get an article to GA status (although have been the reviewer for one in Project Medicine). I think this page is eligible for GA status: Margaret Morgan Lawrence. It hasn't been reviewed yet though. Any help/hints in getting her to GA would be greatly appreciated. @Hildabast: I finally managed to get all 50 photos on the outcomes page :) Just pulled up the category page in commons pasted the image string from there and then used the file name from the edit-a-thon page. @Hilda: I don't know what to tell you because I am intentionally on the receiving end of GA, - my initials ;) - I don't do reviews because as not a native speaker I would not dare to judge prose. You can do two things, simply put the nomination on top of the article talk (go to WP:GA and look at the instructions, you will have to pick a group, probably medicine) and see how it goes, or talk to a reviewer first, such as RHM22 (who did two exquisite reviews for me in 2015, see my user page). If things are missing in the article, a reviewer will give you a week to improve. The only biography I brought to GA status was Patrice Chéreau. Unionskirche, Idstein

Basically I changed the 17th century church to 17th century protestant church. I just updated that to 16th based on your comment. Since Category:17th-century Protestant church buildings‎ is by denomination and Category:17th-century church buildings is not, the first one should be used when known. As to including remodeling in a century category. I don't believe there are any specific guidelines. So someone decides about it being significant enough (actually was the remodel defining?) which would determine if the category was needed. I'm adjusting many categories so if I'm only looking at the existing categories and not reading the article I will not be questioning or changing the existing determination. How this makes sense.
