Dear Kerakatians we have marvelous heritage located in the form of kerakat railway station. Remember our vintage oldera classical Hindi films which shows the typical railway stations similar to our kerakat station!!Now days such typical stations are very rare almost extinct. I still remember those past days when I with my other bunch of lads use to run along side the steam engine rail coaches, such a pleasant sound of steam forcing out of the nozzles of engine, the chuk-chuk charm and the horn that can be heard far from few KMs.Once I asked one of the old employee of the station about the nomenclature of the station as "Kerakat". He narrated a logical story. When this station was build by English men and the train services started in it's full fledged, than the time come for naming the station. It was argued that since the locals are very found of killing snakes (kirain local dialect) and lying it on the rail track to get amused when train pass by and compress the snake to mere a strip of leather. Hence decided to name it kira+cut i.e, kirakat finally resolved to kerakat.I had seen now days the narrow gauze railtrack is replaced with broad gauze
