Hi! Welcome to Misplaced Pages. When you get a chance, drop us a note at Misplaced Pages:New user log to introduce yourself.

If you made any edits before you got an account, you might be interested in assigning those to your username.

You can sign your name on talk pages by using " ~~~ " for your username and " ~~~~ " for your username and a timestamp.

Welcome is a good place to start. Misplaced Pages:How does one edit a page gives editing help. Misplaced Pages:Manual of Style gives formatting info. Misplaced Pages:Policies and guidelines tell about the principles we operate on. It's important, but don't try to read it all now. Misplaced Pages:Help covers a broad range of useful topics. Misplaced Pages:Village pump is a place to ask questions. Misplaced Pages:Show preview explains how to double-check your edits before saving.

You should also feel free to drop me a question on my talk page. I'll answer if I'm here.

Happy editing, Isomorphic 04:10, 8 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Congratulations, you're an admin! Please try to be conservative in the use of your new capabilities. Best regards, The Uninvited Co., Inc. 22:41, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, dude! That's why I voted to promote you to Bureaucrat! :) - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 04:41, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your support, and you are welcome. And it's my first one too :) Redux 04:46, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

User Name Change

Thank you for changing my user name from Anaconda89 to User:Velociraptor89. Velociraptor89 06:49, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

You are welcome. Redux 06:52, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

BCrat

Now that you are a bureaucrat, you may want to consider using this script, it helps to sort through the mess at RfA and close noms. Happy BCrating (hmmm...that doesn't sound right...)!Voice-of-All 07:28, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

BTW, it also helps with user renames. Couldn't think of anything for bot flags though. All you have to do is copy the short version of the script (teh SRC= one).Voice-of-All 07:42, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

User Name To Be Blocked

I have recreated my former user ID Anaconda89 and I was wondering if maybe you could block it to stop anyone from impersonating me. Please do not block my IP address. Thanks Velociraptor89 07:58, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Have you unblocked my new account? It seems to be working and editing just fine. Thanks. Velociraptor89 08:57, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Re: List of She Spies episodes

Sorry for responding in a slow manner. I generally prefer to have the episode lists on a separate page, no matter their size. Some shows like Entourage have only 23 episodes so far, but they get their own page. Any thoughts? --MZMcBride 21:00, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

DVD+R/W's RfA

Thank you for your support in my RfA, which ended with the result of (74/0/0). If there is anything I can help with feel free to ask. Also, if there is anything I am doing wrong, please point that out as well. I look forward to working with you in the future.

Highest regards, DVD+ R/W 02:29, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Bot flag for Vina-iwbot

Thank you very much. Off to run the bot. :) --Vina 19:42, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Bot flag request

Since you're the new kid on the block, I'll bug you for this (hopefully this is the right place to ask). User:MarshBot has been approved and I'd like to go ahead and get a bot flag if that's alright. --W.marsh 01:12, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks a lot! --W.marsh 12:52, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Changing username

I've rolled back your last rollback to WP:CHU; there was nothing inappropriate about a thank you note, and could well have been from the user, logged out. As you used administrator rollback to remove the edit, I've used it to reinstate it. Please be more careful about reverting legitimate contributions to project pages, and especially about using administrator rollback to do so. Essjay (TalkConnect) 06:29, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Responded in user's talk page. Quite unlikely that it was a legitimate contribution, although not exactly harmful too (it was just a test). Redux 07:03, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

I disagree. It is very common for users to leave thank you notes after a username change, and after a few months, you'll see that. It is incredibly uncommon for anons to make a test on Changing Usernames, and even less likely that they would do so with a thank you message, properly indented, under a completed request. I've asked the user to confirm. Essjay (TalkConnect) 07:13, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Again, responded on user's talk page. Redux 07:45, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Wikimedia Foundation account

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner, but yes, I will vouch for you when the time comes. I do not think my account was created, but I will not persue the manner, I got bigger fish to fry now. User:Zscout370 18:32, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Viridae

Hi. I noticed that you approved (or acknowledged) the user name change of User:K.vale to the new account of User:Viridae. I became aware of this because the user in question helped revert vandalism on Timothy Leary, a page I have on my watchlist and have recently edited. This username can easily be confused with my own, per WP:U. I attempted to contact the user, but he has not yet setup his email. When you have the time, could you comment on my talk page? I'm currently on wikibreak, but I'll be checking in every now and then. Thanks for your time. —Viriditas | Talk 03:53, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging for Image:Real.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Real.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Misplaced Pages's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Ok, the wrong user had been notified, and the image got deleted today. <sigh> That image came from pt.wp, and if it's there, it means it is PD. I'll go over, see the tagging and reupload it with the proper information if possible. Redux 01:39, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Tracking Vandalism

Hi Redux,

Can we cross Misplaced Pages access logs and the network infrastructure information (squid, firewall, routers, etc) of the company where I work to identify those which may have taken any vandalistic actions against Misplaced Pages from our facilities?

I work on a large company and some time ago (April/2006) someone inside our network may be taken actions against Misplaced Pages Content, then at that time I have got a mesage from Lesfer warning about blocking "my" IP.

Now, I come to you as Lesfer suggested.

Thanks and waiting your answer, Agaro 17:24, 5 July 2006 (UTC) (sorry, session expired with my slow english)

Template:BrazImpFam

Hey Redux, sorry to be aggravating. I've tried a trick with "div style" that seems to work, but only if the image goes on the right-hand side. (I learned that from template:Malawi regions.) By all means, we should go back to the .jpg if it's historically more accurate; however, I've been indoctrinated to believe that .png's are the wiki-preferred format. (Actually .svg's when they're available.) My apologies, I hadn't noticed that the alignment was thrown off -- my screen's pretty wide. I do agree that images aren't the stars of the template, but as long as we've got them, I think they should be visible! Best; and again, sorry to cause problems, QuartierLatin1968 El bien mas preciado es la libertad 16:22, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

False Accusations of Vandalism

Hi Redux. Damburger referred to one of my changes on the Bill O'Reilly controversies page as vandalism, when it was merely a content dispute. Could you drop him a note on his discussion page informing him of the wikipedia rule to not refer to content disputes as vandalism? He seems to be unaware of it and I think it would help him to learn more quickly if it came from an administrator. Thanks. Stanley011.

Yes. And there were several more after that. Stanley011.

I agree with the last message you left on the discussion page of Bill O´Reilly controversies. The situation has basically been the following the last few days: when I attempt to note that Al Franken ´´claimed he performed a search´´, Sysrpl changes that line to ´´Franken performed a search.´´ However, the only verifiable fact (which is the cardinal rule of wikipedia: all things stated must be verifiable) is that Franken claimed he performed a search. I think Sysrpl does not understand the verifiability rule, so maybe you could inform him of it? Additionally, when I note that Franken is a comedian, Sysrpl removes that notation but leaves the notation of Franken as a political commentator to give the reader the false impression that Franken is only a political commentator, when, in fact he is more known as a comedian--here, I am referring to the first mention of Franken in the article, in which it should be made known to the reader who Franken is. He then accuses me of attempting to poison the well when I make this needed change. Would you kindly inform him of the civility rule on wikipedia as well? I thank you for your assistance. Stanley011.

Additionally, he misuses edit summaries egregiously--would you kindly inform him that edit summaries are just that, and should not be used to send personal messages? Just check the page history and you will see that he frequently abuses edit summaries. Thank you. Stanley011.

IP check

Hi there! Would you please check IPs from users Abreuzinho (talk · contribs) and GADA (talk · contribs)? GADA asked me to translate a large text and gave me an e-mail that reminded me of Abreuzinho. So I wonder if both users aren't actually only one person (as both are linked to Cruzeiro's article). Cheers —Lesfer 23:19, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Sysrpl

Redux, I am afraid that this user is not in his senses--kindly read some of his latest edits to the dicscussion page of Bill O´Reilly controversies, in which he accuses me of MASOSCHISM and writes other incoherent sentences, showing that he does take wikipedia serisouly, or does not have the ability to. Is there a way you can permenantly, or indefinitely, block him from editing, for he clearly is in no position to be editing encyclopedia articles as you can see from his recent contributions to the discussion. Thank you. Stanley011.

I am specficially referring to his Revision as of 19:01, 11 July 2006 on the Discussion page of the Bill O´Reilly controversies article. Thank you. Stanley011.

Please read the comments Sysrpl posted on the talk page of Damburger under the section ´´Stanley011´s war.´´ Is this allowable under wikipedia policy?Stanley011.

Never mind--I just read you comments on the discussion page and realize you have already addressed this. My mistake. I think from here, we´re going to need to have a majority vote on the matter at hand. Stanley011.

Bill O'Reilly Controversies Editing War

Redux, I am somewhat perplexed that you would allow one user's editing activity result in a suspension for all try to stop him. I suppose you already looked back at the edit history and comments detailing the conflict. I, as well as at least three others, believe this single user's remarks to be snarkey and sometimes plain false. He insists on presenting sources to the audience prefaced with negative information, the intention of which is to discredit or ridicule what that source is about to say. When pressed to stop this activity and discuss it further his arguments go in circles and he endlesly reverts leaving comments that are quite disingenuous. For example, he says he isn't attempting to imply a source is lying, but if a source works with a research group to prepare his case, what does saying the source "claims" to have researched the subject do other than imply he is lying? He says he didn't create statements for the audience which labeled sources as "conspiracy theorists" and linking to blog website, but an examination of the edit history clearly shows he did. I find this all quite disingenuous.

Finally, I wanted to remind you that this user initiated a campaign to have the article deleted, the result of which was his initiative's massive defeat. Sysrpl 16:29, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Oh, and this user, freshly back from his suspension, is doing the exact same reverts again without regard to what was said. He didn't attempt to discuss this further than leaving "rv to last version by JChap due to pov insertions " in the edit history line. :( Sysrpl 16:54, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Your oversight request

I noticed your request for the oversight permission on Misplaced Pages talk:Arbitration Committee#A situation and, being the majority contributor to Misplaced Pages:Oversight (proof!) I'd like to ask you a favor. If, during your request, you come across information that can make that page more accurate without spilling the beans involving your top secret plans for world domination (or sensitive Wikimedia Foundation info, etc...) I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd keep me in the know, this way I can continue to maintain said page. :) While I'm mentioning it, if you'd give it a peek and tell me if I've made any blatant, glaring errors, I'd appreciate that also! ~Kylu (u|t) 06:12, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

I forwarded your request to the arbcom mailing list this morning, with a note that if nobody objects in the new couple days I'll go ahead and put the request on the meta requests for permission page so a steward can do it. As I write this, nobody has objected. Raul654 22:50, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanksmuch! :D ~Kylu (u|t) 07:10, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Congratulations on getting this tool (even though ideally, it wouldn't really be something you congradulate)! I knew you would be a good person to have it regardless of the outcome. I am glad that the arbcom thought you trustworthy, as you are. (technically, the Steward hasn't came yet, but that won't change anything).Voice-of-All 02:29, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
