Red crossThis is a failed proposal.
Consensus for its implementation was not established within a reasonable period of time. If you want to revive discussion, please use the talk page or initiate a thread at the village pump.
This page is currently inactive and is retained for historical reference.
Either the page is no longer relevant or consensus on its purpose has become unclear. To revive discussion, seek broader input via a forum such as the village pump.
ShortcutThis page is intended to get attention quickly when dealing with personal attacks. It is not intended to serve as a form of mediation or a type of RFC. Only Personal attacks are dealt with on this page, on their own merits in accordance with Misplaced Pages's No Personal Attacks policy

For editors who want a personal attack situation reviewed:

    1. Consider that in most cases, ignoring the attack is better than requesting sanction against the attacker. Do not report people if you are likewise guilty of hostility towards them.
    2. Make sure the user has actually commited a personal attack. (Please note that "personal attacks" are defined only under the WP:NPA policy. If a statement is not considered a personal attack under the intended spirit of this policy, it does not belong here.)
    3. The editor must have been warned earlier. The {{npa2}}, and {{npa3}} templates may be appropriate for new users; for long-term editors, it's preferable to write something rather than using a standard template. Reports of unwarned editors may be removed.
    4. If the behavior hasn't stopped, add the following header to the New Reports section of this page in the following format:
==={{User|NAME OF USER}}=== replacing NAME OF USER with the user name or IP address concerned, with a brief reason for listing below. Be sure to include diffs.
    5. If an editor removes the IP or username and doesn't handle the matter to your satisfaction, take it to the editor's talk page or the administrators' noticeboard, but do not re-list the user here.
    6. NB - Due to misunderstanding of these instructions and/or mis-use of this process, comments not in strict adhereance to these instructions WILL be removed. This page deals only with personal attacks under the policy WP:NPA. Reports deemed to be inappropriate for this page are liable to be moved to an appropriate venue where one exists.

For those reported on this page:

    1. A reviewer or an administrator will review each report on this page. In dealing with the report, the contribution history of the reported user shall be checked along with the diffs provided in the report. Where no personal attack is evident, then no action will be taken - however, should an administrator see that another seperate issue is evident, appropriate action or advice for that issue may be taken/given at his or her discretion and in line with wiki policy.
    2. Reports on this page stand on their own merits in accordance with Misplaced Pages's no personal attacks policy. As such, disputes and discussions over reports are not suitable for this page except for such comments left by admins or reviewers describing their actions and/or findings. If you notice your account reported at this page, please trust that the administrators and reviewers dealing with reports will deal with it in an even-handed and fair manner on the basis of policy alone. If you feel strongly that another "side to the story", issue, or another piece of information is missing from a report please refrain from posting here, and instead leave your comment on your talk page under the title NPA Report or another other clear and related title. The reviewing party will see this message and take it into account where applicable.

    For users handling assistance requests:

    1. For each of the users linked here, open their contributions and check for personal attacks. Also check if the users have been sufficiently warned for the current personal attack and whether they've continued to commit personal attacks after being warned.
    2. Note that there is an important difference between a user who makes many good contributions and a few personal attacks, and a user whose last edits are (nearly) all personal attacks or other conflict.
    3. Do nothing, warn them again, or, if you are an adminstrator, block the user in question as you think is required. Explain things carefully to the user who listed the attacker if you feel there's been a misunderstanding.
    4. Move the report to the Open Reports section and give an update to the status of the report.
    5. Delete old reports that have been dealt with.

Please consider adding this page to your watchlist to make life easier for non-administrator RC-patrollers.

    New reports

    Reneec (talk · contribs)

Reneec has been editing as 66.239.212.34 (talk · contribs), 66.239.212.23 (talk · contribs), 66.239.212.68 (talk · contribs) et al (perhaps, if action is to be taken, it should be taken as to the range of IPs from 66.239.212.0/122) on the Memphis, Tennessee article and talk page. The editor has made numerous personal attacks on User:Vary and me (and perhaps User:Dozenist as well) on the talk page, such as calling me childish, saying that we've engaged in lackey, sycophantic crawling, calling Vary ignorant, a Wiki Cop on a cycle of deletion, and clueless, callling me ignorant, unfriendly, and an embarassing, obnoxious despot (I admit I got a chuckle out of that one), and so forth (there are more attacks, but I think that's enough to fairly asses the situation). While the IPs are not static, making communication with the user directly nearly impossible, numerous attempts to get the user to stop making the attacks have been made on the Memphis talk page itself. Additionally, the user has violated 3RR in the article itself. · j·e·r·s·y·k·o talk · 19:34, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

He just returned from his last ban, and he's back at it again here. He attacked my edits as "a charade" to push Satanism, and continues on with the same incivility that he was banned for in the first place. -- LGagnon 21:09, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Serious, unprovoked, personal attacks against myself. See 1, and 2. okedem 09:43, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Please note - I have warned the user, using the template. He responded to that very warning with another personal attack. He later deleted that section in his talk page. See here 3. okedem 16:12, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

    Azskeptic (talk · contribs)

Azskeptic has threatened another user on this site using personal information:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/User_talk:ParalelUni#Blocked

"Spike, stop it. Your identity is known and if you keep making threats a mental health evaluation will be asked for in your county court to see if help can be given to you. Sorry to the administrators to witness such a meltdown in public from a SC medical school student. Azskeptic 22:51, 11 August 2006 (UTC)"

I ask that this statement be removed and this user be banned. He knows this user from another site and this is def. cyber-stalking. Local police will be involved if this issue is not resolved in a timely fashion. 24.23.65.115 23:12, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Comment: This complaint is almost certainly from a sock of ParalelUni/Spike himself, who is currently under a well deserved permablock, as a review of his talk page will show. Az's comment isn't a personal attack, IMHO, and Az certainly isn't threatening to reveal personal information on Misplaced Pages. (Az does have what looks like an inadvertent WP:LEGAL problem, which I suspect he will correct on next sign-on, and which is ameliorated, in any event, by 24's own violation of WP:LEGAL in this very complaint.) TheronJ 23:41, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
My complaint here is not a violation of WP:LEGAL, the online resrouce for cyberstalking says that incidents that are a threat should be reported to the local police. It also cannot be said when the user above will sign in again or if he will correct it. It should be deleted by an admin. as an obvious violation of WP:LEGAL as mentioned by Theron. Refusing to delete it according to wikipedias own policies puts Misplaced Pages in a situation where they could be sued for failing to act and allowing harm to continue.24.23.65.115 23:43, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Talking about getting people arrested and sued sounds an awful lot like a legal threat, to me. It's more than enough to just cite WP:NPA, in the event of personal attacks; we already know stalking is bad, and will already deal with it, even without the threat of legal action. Luna Santin 00:02, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Then why hasn't anything been done about it? Regardless, I really have no faith in the admin. here to do anything they should. You guys will most likely just leave it right there and not do a damn thing about it. 24.23.65.115 00:08, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

It'd help if you were a little more patient; the more time spent assuring you that action is being taken, the less time can be spent actually taking action. In the meantime, please bear in mind that ranting about the ineffectiveness and incompetence of fellow editors usually isn't a very good way to get their help. I'd really prefer it if we could all remain civil about this, especially on this particular noticeboard. Luna Santin 00:44, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your help. I'm sorry for my attitude, but you could probably understand if you knew how the admins have treated me throughout this.152.163.100.135 00:56, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

    BhaiSaab (talk · contribs)

Has made personal attacks many times(,,,). He has baited users on numerous occasions (, , , , , , and an unwarranted warning ]). He also has stated his unwillingness to contribute to articles .

None of the diffs are after his warning? Anything recent? LactoseTI 02:12, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Umm I believe that the middle couple of "baiting" diffs are after the warning. The admin Blnguyen has stated, "BhaiSaab has been advised to not to respond unnecessarily and incessantly to Bakasuprman, especially in the case that there are no diffs or evidence presented" after a warning here . So I have warned him thrice and Blnguyen (not using template) has warned him twice. So its 5 warnings, he has not been on for 4 hours, but given the chance he would love to bait me again.Bakaman Bakatalk 02:23, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
This is just a poor attempt at retaliation for . Regarding , I meant "you" in a general sense. I have no comment on the other edits, except I find it odd that that Bakaman is using each diff several times. BhaiSaab 03:08, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Using several times? Each diff was cited once. Since you have been warned five times, I decided to take your advice and go to the noticeboard. You told me to, so don't call this a "poor attempt at retaliation". You should be flattered (even after attacking me and rampant harrassment) that I took your advice. Bakaman Bakatalk 03:22, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Right, so is that why your 1st and 6th links point to the same thing, and 2nd and 4th links point to the same thing? Regardless, I suggest the reviewer look at the diffs before making a decision in case of possible misrepresentation. BhaiSaab 03:28, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
An example of misrepresentation would be you (just now) stating a response but calling it a minor edit. Bakaman Bakatalk 03:32, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Indeed, there are several duplicated diffs in Bakaman's list.Timothy Usher 03:33, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
See WP:AGF. Also, don't vandalize your talk page like you did (here and here ). Your actions show that you unconditionally support User:BhaiSaab. Bakaman Bakatalk 03:37, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Timothy Usher unconditionally supports me? You must be kidding me. BhaiSaab 03:40, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Really, show me any evidence you have differed on anything with your sparring partnerl concerning any sort of India related article or anything concerning dab. Bakaman Bakatalk 03:45, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
It's quite irrelevant here. BhaiSaab 03:47, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
No its quite relevant. Timothy Usher is your sparring partner (especially when dealing with me and D-boy) so feel free to prove me wrong.Bakaman Bakatalk 03:50, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
As I've not been involved in India-related articles, I have no idea what opinion I'd reach about your dispute there. DBachmann I hold in high esteem. If BhaiSaab agrees, great.Timothy Usher 04:11, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
