This template is used on approximately 49,000 pages and changes may be widely noticed. Test changes in the template's /sandbox or /testcases subpages, or in your own user subpage. Consider discussing changes on the talk page before implementing them.

This template should not be substituted.

Usage

Tag categories with {{Container category}} to inform editors that they should not contain anything other than subcategories.

The categories will be added to Category:Container categories. If the template is transcluded on a page outside of the category namespace, the page will not be added to Category:Container categories.

Categories that are part of Misplaced Pages administration should be tagged with {{Maintenance category}} instead.
