Nobody has been announced to co-star, but the film, like the other sequels, will not star Jim Carrey (a few years earlier, ] considered a sequel with Carrey, but plans seem to have been ditched). The story will revolve around the pet detective's son and his attempt to take over the family business.

	Morgan Creek chose New York City as a fresh start for the revival of the franchise, with Brooklyn born and raised producer/rapper/comic/actor Lebroz at the core, the Creek taking a chance with James, just as they did with young James "Jim" Carrey just a short decade ago.
