Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Stingray (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    • Full protection (the article is currently semi protected), for a some of hours, maybe half a day, until this settles down, due edit war. Apparently someone called Steve Irwin died due a stingray attack, and several users are wanting to add that information to the article, while others (me included), don't agree. IPs were driven away by semi protecting the article, but now the war is between users. This will force people to discuss in the talk page to reach consensus. -- ReyBrujo 05:35, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
It is a content dispute. Whether the information is in the article or not is not vandalism. Ansell 05:37, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Generally, Full page protection is to stop edit warring or severe vandalism. I believe we need full protection to prompt a discussion and preventing people from breaking the three revert rule. -- ReyBrujo 06:04, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Also, you may not know the status of Steve Irwin with relation to his extensive work with animals, as such your statement about "someone" may be misguided. Ansell 05:39, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
I am more interested in stopping the edit war than knowing about this person's life. -- ReyBrujo 06:04, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Hey, I am not part of the edit war. And the speed with which a consensus is developing on the talk page, in the direction of having it there, means that maybe you were focusing on backing up a few established editors without knowing the full reasons why so many people feel that a sentence refering to the recent incident is relevant. Keep in mind the WP:3RR provisions are fully liable in content dispute situations. Ansell 06:21, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

    • Semi-protection A range of IP`s continue to vandalize this page, removing a high-quality PD image with a low-quality GFDL image with no explanations. --CFIF 01:08, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Actually, the page was sprotected for a while, sometime after I filed that abuse report. It has been unprotected since, and only vandalized once by the same user. Ryūlóng 11:29, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
That's alright then. If he seems to have stopped, no worries. If it picks up again, re-add him at Abuse Reporting and We'll try something, but there might not be much we can do, what with there being very few helpers from that area... HawkerTyphoon 20:10, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Semi-protection. Edit war between two anons over a fansite, MapleTip. --J.L.W.S. The Special One 05:30, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Just so you know administrator, I have stopped as I have requested Third Opinon, but there is a third person vandalizing Maplestory into something like "I like chicken". Instead of semi protecting it, can you settle this dispute in the talk page? Thanks. Mapletip 06:45, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

The two IPs which are edit warring are 219.75.107.97 and 68.78.148.16. In addition, the page has been repeatedly attacked by another anonymous vandal: 203.45.125.4. Admin: please semi-protect the article, and block all three IPs (if you think it's appropriate to do so). A registered user, Mapletip, is trying to resolve the dispute by seeking a third opinion. --J.L.W.S. The Special One 06:50, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

    Semi-protection of Hildanknight's user space.

The conflict on the MapleStory article resulted in my user page getting vandalized. My talk page has also been attacked by a troll rotating IPs.

There's no reason why anonymous users should be allowed to edit my userspace. Due a history of anons abusing their privileges of editing my userspace, I request my entire userspace be semi-protected. --J.L.W.S. The Special One 08:55, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Panic! at the Disco (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection Genre is of heavy debate, and mediation via WP:Mediation_Cabal is underway. I asked that genre be frozen until peer review can be made, but this is currently being ignored by many Anon IP. This genre war has picked up signifigently in last 12 hours. Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Steve_Irwin (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

There was an edit war as rumours of Steve Irwin's death emerged. This death has been confirmed by most news outlets. there has been no significant vandalism since the edit war. I believe this article should be 'unprotected'. I see no reason for protecting it just because it's a current event. PureFire 06:24, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Add Stingray to the list as it is in the same category, even though it is in requests above for full protection, it is the same issue. Pages linked from the main page should not be protected. Ansell 06:53, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Advocates for Children in Therapy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Reverting to version : http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Advocates_for_Children_in_Therapy&oldid=73600469 would represent the consensus of many previous editors. I would also suggest a poll to that effect and will start that on the talk page. Dr. Becker-Weidman 19:38, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

    Drishtipat (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Drishtipat's London branch has been criticised for the composition of it's membership http://www.drishtipat.org/blog/2006/07/27/monica-ali/. The majority of British Bangladeshi's originate from Sylhet Division in Bangladesh and are keenly interested in the human and economic rights in their region. Drishtipat's national Dhaka-centric focus has thus been criticised. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 87.74.20.118 (talk • contribs) .

Drishtipat is currently semiprotected from editing. If you register an account and wait a few days, you'll be able to edit it. (It's only locked against anonymous and very new editors.) Also, in the future, please format your requests correctly; as it stands, you're requesting an edit to a user talk page that doesn't exist. Zetawoof 05:55, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Advocates for Children in Therapy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Unprotection - The edit war was started/created by User:FCYTravis. The original page was the result of many editors and edits, many of whom had very diverse and differing points of view. The article should be subject to editors edits and not held hostage. Dr. Becker-Weidman 19:19, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, see below --Robdurbar 19:27, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Hans Henning Atrott (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Reference as it exists it to delete. Instead of that Atrott's webpage http://wwww.geocities.com/christianterror/englishindex.htm is put as reference. I doubt that German newspapers are reliable sources. German newspaper article belongs with the German section of Misplaced Pages. That is also to say to the other existing reference which is in German. German articles have to be content of German Misplaced Pages. The quarrels between Atrott and the former association he guided cannot only be represented only by Atrott's opponents or enemies while concealing Atrott's exposition on that. More over, the trial on A. and the result are reported wrongly. He did not get that sentence! For those changes the webpage is to open, again. The problem is not Atrott but Misplaced Pages co-worker Seewolf. He adds fuel to the fire, e.g. when wording that A. was fired by the association he guided, once.

The page appears to have been protected as the result of this exact sort of edit warring. Discuss on the talk page. There is, incidentally, absolutely nothing wrong with foreign-language references. Zetawoof 01:01, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm going to tenatively decline this for now, and not protect. This is due to the general context/circumstances of the page and the fact that protection has caused some contrversy here already. However, I think the users on this page should note that furhter edit waring will almost definately result in full protection and that it is on their heads to avoid casuing such a problem. --Robdurbar 19:34, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

    Animal rights (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

There is a revert war occurring where there are 2 sides, one thinks a block of text should be inserted, the other doesn't. Talking seems to have failed, or the new people who have turned up just plain don't want to talk. Requesting full protection until the matter is solved.-Localzuk 16:49, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Based on the comments on the talk page, there is quite a lot of talking going on between both sides, if page is protected it should retain the sections that were deleted by the above editor and others. I suggest the page not be protected, since the discussion has remained civil, and neither side is acusing the other of vandalism. Nrets 17:37, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

    Fred Durst (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Fred Durst needs to be at least semi-protected, and with a recent influx of registered users arguing about the topic, full-protected for the time being. The edit war from both Limp Bizkit and Rapcore that's been threatening to leave the article in the same place took two steps in the wrong direction today with registered users from both those articles stepping in over the order of wording Rapcore and Nu Metal. It has the potential to get really bad; please stop now before it does. -- Stick Fig 15:48, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
