Hi Samir, can you see this comment of Nirav's, to which I replied on his talk page. Since he is on a wikibreak, can you see if any further changes need to be made to the DYK nom -- Lost 10:46, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey Samir.. just wondering... DYKs are on the main page for how long before being changed? Cause it seemed it changed within a few hours to me... --Deenoe 12:13, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

- If you're still around, you might consider adding the notices which I have set out in a separate section because I have got a meeting which unexpectedly turned up. The front three on the waiting list are mine now, seeing as I couldn't pick them myself, but Srikeit made Parthiv Patel my 25th yesterday, which is good timing as today is 3 months on the job. Just a note I had to rewrite the Ian Craig (shocking that as I have a conflict of interest), but the Australian adjective is needed, as he is not the youngest of all countries. Was that comment to Srikeit about the phone call? Blnguyen | rant-line 03:09, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks :-) I did make a couple of serious screw-ups like forgetting to remove a user signature before updating & not protecting the page before going live, but overall wasn't as big a disaster as I thought ;) Definitely looking forward to the next refreshment! Bypass redirects in DYK
Hey, Could you change
- ...that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is reanalysing Atlantic hurricane data to correct errors in the hurricane database dating back to the Apollo Program?
to bypass the redirects of
hurricane → tropical cyclone and Apollo Program → Project Apollo?

- Haha, two things. I'm not the author, I only contributed to the intro of the article, and the redirects haven't been bypassed ;) – Chacor 02:13, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Deleting articles
Spyderchat on deletion review
An editor has asked for a deletion review of Spyderchat. Since you closed the deletion discussion for (or speedy-deleted) this article, your reasons on how or why you did so will be greatly appreciated in the above review. We feel blindsided that your cited reasons for deletion were never mentioned in the deletion discussion, that you never commented in the article prior to deletion, and that the article was deleted in spite of a majority of comments to keep and the very thorough clean-up and overhaul of the article itself. Please undelete this article or at least provide better rationale. | My oversight with adding the sig, I just forgot (was probably typing too fast and distracted). Apologies. RfA thanks
Thank you very much for participating in my RFA, which closed successfully today with a result of (62/18/3). I will go very carefully at first, trying to make sure I don't mess up too badly using the tools, and will begin by re-reading all the high-quality feedback I received during the process, not least from those who opposed me. Any further advice/guidance will be gratefully accepted. I hope I will live up to your trust! Guinnog 14:57, 30 August 2006 (UTC)} |

Samir, I believe that due to the issue I raised on the article's talk page, it should not be featured at all. Please consider replacing it with another DYK (and adding yet another one, as the template looks quite "empty" on the main page now). Thanks, Bravada, talk - 14:30, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- I am afraid not, as it just reflects that the article is a half-hearted compromise. This is a controversial issue and I believe it's inclusion in DYK is a bad precedent. See the Macedonia example (and Macedonia-related articles are now cleaned to be NPOV etc.) on Grue's talk page to see my point. I believe such "facts" should not be featured on DYK. Bravada, talk - 14:39, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Scientific notability guideline
Hey, I noticed that we have notability guidelines on everything from hotels to porn actors, but none on scientific concepts, theories, and terms. I started putting some intitial ideas together at User:Trialsanderrors/SCIENCE and am looking for contributions and feedback now. If this essay can gather some steam we could move it into the WP space and make it an active proposal. There are lots of particulars in debates about scientific topics such as peer-review, citations, impact factor, etc., that editors should be made aware of before they offer an opinion based on the "Google test", and I think it would be a good way to collect all of this in one spot. Let me know if you're interested. Cheers, trialsanderrors 10:30, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Template question
Samir, I have a question. Should a template be included in an article that is not specifically included in the template itself? Justforasecond is being blocked for 3RR, but it involves his removing {{Christianity}} from Jews for Jesus. Can you tell me where the policy is on this? I can't find it. Thanks. Whiskey Rebellion 19:30, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- No policy that I know exists on it. I put the gastroenterology template on a tonne of articles that are not cited on it. I see the template issue for this particular article is being discussed on the relevant talk page, and I'd defer to the consensus reached there. Thanks -- Samir धर्म 10:10, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Crohn's
Hey Samir,
why are you deleting my edit on the Crohn's Disease article?
that website I posted, crohnsdaily.com, was NOT spam!!
I run a ligidimate network for Crohn's Disease support, no different then those other links..and I've even been online longer then crohnszone, and those other links, on that article have been..
so again I ask you "why was that deleted" I will dispute that with you until the end, I promise you that. I don't care for your discrimination against my forum.
take care. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bubazoo (talk • contribs) .

- Hi Sarah (and Samir :) ). Nah, i'm not sure how that stayed there: i put it there ages ago on the template (for next year), and I thought i removed it.. :P Again: ur comments are useful. I'll be at Monash Clayton next year for a kinda weird experience to do with VCAL and VCE the year after.. I'll be doing 3 days at school (home :) ), 1 day Monash and 1 day at Work.. It's a trial-type thing that Monash Clayton is doing next year, and hopefully it will stay, kind of like an extra year (even though it's only 1 day a week), but that works out to around a term of uni, kind of like a 0th Year :P, to see if thats the course i'm really interested in, and give me time to Change my preference if need be. Thanks for the note. All is well here :), and I hope all's well there. Thanks! --Deon555Review 11:14, 4 September 2006 (UTC) No worries about the whole 'eavesdropping' thing Samir.. Samir, you protected Folke Bernadotte on SpinyNorman's version, which amounts to rewarding his 3RR violation. Would you please consider either unprotecting or at least restoring and protecting the pre-3RR version? Spiny is a troublesome editor who tends to edit by revert, and so it's arguably important not to allow him to profit from the behavior. Cheers, SlimVirgin 12:49, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
