ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Bullaful. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Sex worker, did not appear constructive and has been undone. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. I undid some of your change to the lede again. Per WP:BRD once you were undone the first time you should have taken it to the article's talk page to get consensus for the change. Your edit summary "Just because it is of long standing doesn't make it correct. It is unsourced and not mentioned again in article" is completely false. There were two sources for the definition that you removed. Sources are not normally used in ledes, so I suspect that the issue of the definition has come up before. The fact that this version of the lede has been stable for several years just reinforces the fact that you should not have restored your version after it was undone. And just so we're clear, I wasn't 100% in agreement with Diannaa indefinitely blocking you since you did prove to be a decent editor for years (though we clashed over a few things, including you often failing to source your material). See here. You should try to appeal your block. If you do not, and you keep editing with this account, I will start a WP:Sock investigation on you. Because you often add unsourced material and sometimes edit in other problematic ways, I feel that I should not let this go. Hi Flyer22 Reborn. It's good to hear from you. It has been a while since we clashed, and I still think you were wrong (though I cannot remember what the issues were). Yes, I am User:Enthusiast01/User:Ewawer. You are right that I will not seek to get myself unblocked, as it was stupid how it happened. My fault entirely; I pressed the Save button prematurely. Anyway, I think its time I gave Misplaced Pages a break. I have been giving it too much of my time, and I have a few personal issues to sort out. LOL at the you "still think wrong" aspect. We can both be headstrong, so I understand. Diannaa is understandably strict when it comes to copyright matters, but she might be interested in hearing your case/explanations. It's frustrating for some of us when we explain the rules to an editor and that editor violates the rule(s) again without responding to whatever concerns we expressed.

What the hell is happening to Misplaced Pages? When I first starting editing way back when I as well as other editors were encouraged to WP:be bold, on the proviso that if the editor went too far, the edit would be reverted or fixed. I have spent many, many, many hours of my time making good faith edits to enhance the standing and quality of Misplaced Pages articles. But, now a new breed of administrators seem to have taken over, whose guiding principle is to show who is the boss. Instead of encouraging good faith editing and reverting or fixing edits which may have crossed the line, the main approach is increasingly to block accounts and make repeated threats of dire consequences. It feels like the encouragement of good faith editing and courtesy is becoming old fashioned. Now. Diannaa is going one step further, threatening to blanket delete and revert all edits made by me, whether made in good faith or without regard to any merit. I have spent many of my hours on Misplaced Pages edits, and it would be such a waste if all of that was now to be dumped because of the bloody-mindedness of one administrator.

Let me also take this opportunity to say to Diannaa that I am conscious of the meaning and significance of copyright and the consequences of its violation (BTW - I was a lawyer in another life) and have respect for it. I also appreciate her (I assume Diannaa is a her) efforts in keeping edits on the right side of copyright. I do have regrets for having crossed over the copyright line, and attribute it to starting to do a major edit but having to rush off to do other things in the real world, and having to "Save" WIP as a temporary step, intending to come back to finish the tidy up very soon, but being caught short. You are d--- right I'm upset. Despite all my efforts to improve Misplaced Pages, to be treated this way makes me very angry. Well, I'm glad at least that Misplaced Pages is at the stage now that it can dump on long-standing editors. Anyway, thanks Flyer22 Reborn for your efforts in this respect. As you can see at WP:AN, they are looking for you to acknowledge that you understand copyright matters, including the ways you violated them, and for you to vow that you won't violate the copyright rules again. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 01:08, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

I thought I would point out that you have missed a very important point. When you press the save button, that releases, publicly, your edit and that edit becomes preserved in the article history. If that includes a copyright violation, that is what becomes preserved. Even if another editor comes along and edits the article the copyright violation is retained until it gets brought to an administrators attention who must then revision delete at once. Even if the copy right violation is not visible on the most recent viewable version of an article the fact that it exists in the history places Misplaced Pages in legal danger. This is not about. Being bloody minded but about protecting the project from legal repercussions. If an editor has a history of copyright violations then the administrators may be forced to throw the baby and the bathwater out. For example, an editor going by the name Dhlomo had a CCI case opened against them, because they were a serial copyright violator, it took almost 3 years to go through all their work to purge copyright violations. Another example is the user Primetime whose work was entirely copyright violations resulting in the entirety of their article contribution being deleted. In both cases, there were hundreds perhaps over a thousand edits purged from Misplaced Pages to prevent serious legal repercussions.

TLDR, please be mindful that clicking the save button isn't just a temporary measure but may have unintended consequences. Regards, Blackmane (talk) 04:08, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Seasons greetings and thanks to all those administrators who have taken time seeking to restore my standing in Misplaced Pages, especially Flyer22 Reborn and now Blackmane. Your efforts and advice is appreciated. I have been blocked from posting these comments directly to the WP:AN page. I thank Blackmane for making it clear above why copyright violations are so critical for Misplaced Pages and why they should not be allowed to stand even as a stop gap measure. Let me also say that the copyright violations by me were not intentional and the edits were made in good faith, and it is not my wish or expectation to repeat the practice.
