Some wikipedian user pages tell their life story or reveal all sorts of interesting details about themselves, whilst others define their interests and values. I want to do neither, because I do not want to tempt the reader to stereotype me — so a few boxes to the right is all you get.
However, if you read on down, you'll find more about my work on Misplaced Pages.
Misplaced Pages Admin
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to my request for adminship in May 2006. I am delighted that it was successful, and I now have administrator powers on Misplaced Pages. Administrators have access to a few technical features which help with maintenance.
I regard admin powers as a privilege to be used sparingly and judiciously, but if you require the assistance of an admin, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page.
If you want admin help, please do try to explain clearly what you want done, and why ... and I'll try to either help you myself or direct you to a more experienced person if appropriate.

My bot
I have created a bot called BHGbot, to be used for a limited number of specific purposes. BHGbot was approved on November 18, 2007 (see the request for approval at Misplaced Pages:Bots/Requests for approval/BHGbot).
Misplaced Pages likes and dislikes
I like:
I dislike
- missing edit summaries; they only take a second or two, but make life a lot easier for everyone else. (see link to my own edit summary usage).
- when people think they "own" a stub article (see WP:OWN)
I am usually a reasonably placid and easy-going sorta person, but I believe that when people repeatedly breach any of the foregoing principles, they should be cruelly punished.
It has been suggested that being forced to listen to Barry Manilow would be an appropriate form of retribution, but I am inclined to think that this is too cruel and extreme. Maybe something milder would do, such as being boiled in oil. (Supportively and non-violently, of course, with plenty of WikiLove, and tongue very firmly in cheek).
Currently working on
July 2010
- Cleaning up articles on UK constituencies, converting to {{Infobox UK constituency main}}
- Tidyup the 100 sub-stubs I found, listed at User:BrownHairedGirl/Sub-stub MPs. What possesses people to create so many pages such a pitiful state?
Recently done
July 2010
- Create List of MPs elected in the United Kingdom general election, 1832
- Create {{Compact election box}}
March 2010
- Categorising the articles listed in List of National Monuments of Ireland in new by-county sub-cats of Category:National Monuments of Ireland
- See esp Misplaced Pages talk:Categorization/Categorising human settlements
- Splitting List of National Monuments of Ireland
... into separate by-county lists, with an aggregated all-Ireland list generated by transcluding the by-county lists. See Category:Lists of National Monuments of Ireland
- categorisation
On the backburner
- Writing more articles on 19th century Irish MPs
Contributions
A full, blow-by-blow list of my contributions is available at the usual place.
This is just a few notes on my areas of interest and on new articles I have created. (or rather, it will be when I get around to writing it ...)
(British parliamentarians, Irish parliamentarians, US United Methodist Bishops, US prisons)
New articles
I used to try to list new articles that I had created, but since I create a lot of new articles, I found that the list was too much work to maintain.
Here are some of the lists I made earlier, before I gave up, in reverse chronological order:
- May 2006
- April 2006
- March 2006
- February 2006
