Manual of style & cut-and-paste moves

1. Misplaced Pages (in line with most other publications, print or Web) has a Manual of Style; this includes (like most manuals of style) rules about the use of capitals, which exclude prepositions and articles.
2. When someone corrects an article that you've created, don't change it back.

Thanks for your message. I removed the lists of performances because it wasn't really clear what they were, nor if they were (or whether they could be) complete. Deja vu

Someone keeps adding things that are negative and biased as well that don't really give any good info on the song, so no i'm not making it biased. I'm just trying to keep the article from becoming a bash fest. Tigermichal 23:18, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

AMA request

User Tigermichal continues to remove anything negative about the song, and is showing strong PoV on the page towards the song, and will not stop removing other's work, examples: removes anything on poor chart performance, adding unofficial charts. I have not added anything to the page, just monitered it and reverted this user's deletes. Just by looking at Tigermichal's talk page it's obvious this user is a loose canon. Just compare my last edit to his most recent one.

Thank you for your message. I will now contact Tigermichal though I will taking a week long break from saturday the 26th of August. If I can receive a reply from the user either today or tomorrow then I will try to sort things then, otherwise, would you be able to wait another week, or I could ask one of my colleagues at the AMA to help you in my absence. Apologies but after checking today, I have found that I will in fact be away for two weeks from tomorrow rather than just one. Apologies for the delay in contacting you again but this is to check how the situation is progressing. If the problems you were having have ironed themselves out then I shall mark this case as closed on the AMA requests page but if you would like, continue to monitor it.

Unsolicited advice (but could be helpful)

Hi, I'm User:Pedant, and I work with the The AMA, but I'm not acting as advocate for either of you at present. I'm writing this to both User:Thankyoubaby and User:Tigermichal about your recent flurry of edit disputes. I can assure you, without any judgement, that both of you have actually violated some of wikipedia's policies, and either of you or both of you could be subject to being blocked if it continues.

However, from looking at your edits, I see that both of you are active contributors and you have both added valuable material to the wikipedia, and I hate to see your productivity wasted. You seem to have gotten into a situation where you are editing competitively rather than cooperatively with each other. That's a shame, since you both seem very knowledgeable and since you seem to share an interest in the same types of music.

My proposal

I'd like to work with both of you to not only resolve the conflict, and to advise you on how to avoid this type of conflict in the future. There are a few simple ideas I have that have benefited me in the past, and I've come to see them as valuable core ideas for wikipedia editors. My goal would be to get you two working as a team, by working with each other collaboratively I think you could absolutely rock!

I don't really want to put the effort forth to help you though, unless you are both into it, your disputes are really so minor and easy to fix that really, since I'm kinda lazy I'd prefer to just go around cleaning up after the two of you. That wouldn't be as productive of a solution though, and not the 'best thing for wikipedia'. If you'd like my help becoming a dedicated editing team, I am absolutely willing to spend the time to help you. What do you think? Answer on my talk page User:Pedant 20:10, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

I don't care if Jermaine Dupri confirmed it. If you're citing a chart position, then it needs to be confirmed by Billboard. This isn't a Janet Jackson fanpage, it's an encyclopedia. Once the chart is published and can be correctly sourced, then go ahead and put it all back. But until Billboard.com or Billboard.biz publishes the chart, don't post that it is #1 or I'll remove it. -- eo 01:26, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Regarding your userpage

1. With regards to your comments on User:Thankyoubaby: Please see Misplaced Pages's no personal attacks policy. "Do not make personal attacks anywhere in Misplaced Pages. Comment on content, not on the contributor. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users." Please keep this in mind while editing. Thanks.
2. It would be more useful for everybody if, instead of complaining on your userpage about users who allegedly "just go aroung making articles look bad, and try to start edit wars, but at the same time try and make themselves look like they know what they are doing", you discuss and explain your issues with them on their talk pages (or the talk pages of the related articles), or failing that go through one of the dispute resolution processes (such as WP:RFC).
