Reducing Film Posters

You do realize that, when images are tagged with {{non-free reduce}}, it puts it in a category which enables a bot to reduce the size automatically, right? There is not really a reason for you to go in and upload smaller versions of film posters yourself. Elisfkc (talk) 20:53, 12 March 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for your concern but I've been doing this for years and I'm better than the bot. Also, there's a bot that creates the non-free reduce templates automatically. — Film Fan 23:31, 12 March 2017 (UTC)

Hello Film Fan. I noticed you 'undid' an edit I had made on The Mummy (2017) article. Though you state this, all you did was upload the same picture. What was the reason/purpose behind this? It was already done.--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 00:35, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

Always upload over the existing file. — Film Fan 08:08, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

Image without license

Unspecified source/license for File:The Fate of The Furious Theatrical Poster.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:The Fate of The Furious Theatrical Poster.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Misplaced Pages's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Misplaced Pages can use it. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot 16:45, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

PNG vs. JPEG

Serious non-snarky question: what's the significance of uploading a non-free image as PNG format over JPEG? Bluesphere 12:45, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Better color retention. — Film Fan 12:52, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

File:Dunkirk Film poster.jpg

Thanks for reducing the image - just to let you know that a manual reduction for most images (all bitmaps except gif) is not necessary as DatBot6 will reduce it to just under 100,000 pixels (in this case, that would have been 259x384) within 24 hours. Ronhjones  20:25, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

I'm aware. And 220px is better than 259px. And I use a better program than the bot. — Film Fan 20:48, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Naming schemes for film festival poster series

Hi Film Fan, since you upload some posters for film festivals, I'd like to let you know I've been renaming some files to normalize the naming scheme for each festival. Also I've created a category for festival posters: Category:Fair use images of film festival posters. Cheers, and thanks for all the posters! Hoverfish Talk 17:35, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

Good Time Poster

Hello Film Fan, you previously uploaded the teaser poster for Good Time in png format, but A24 the distribution company for the film released the theatrical release poster of the film and it was available in jpg format. So I uploaded the new poster in new jpg file format. Have a good day. Regards--Jockzain (talk) 13:44, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

Dunkirk Film poster

Any particular reason for changing the poster back? –Cognissonance (talk) 03:32, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Yes. It's the main theatrical poster with the billing block. — Film Fan 09:21, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Your Name poster: Japanese or English poster?

I'm pretty sure we usually use the Japanese theatrical poster over English one for Japanese films. That's why I replaced the British poster with the original Japanese poster as per WP:FILMPOSTER.
